La Masseria - Palm Beach Gardens Ratings and Reviews
We were very pleased with our first experience there. It was an anniversary celebration. The wait staff was very attentive and our waiter, Alfonso, in particular was very personable and knowledgeable. The restaurant, however, was very noisy; nothing different than a NYC popular eatery.
This was out first time at this location. We enjoyed a excellent drink at the outside bar while waiting to meet our friends. While we had a reservation for 2, I called earlier in the day to add on 2 more and the hostess called me back that a larger table was opened up. I was impressed that she called as most places would just let it go. The waiter from Sorento was excellent and attentive "just enough". All our food was excellent and having traveled to Italy a number of times, the dishes were authentic. The wine list is impressive and good price points for all. It is a high end check, but worth it and didn't have to drive to Palm Beach for similar quality. The décor is lovely, the noise level was just perfect for conversation to be easily understood. We will definitely be back. Thank you.
Our second time here and the food again was excellent. Our only complaint was that with a reservation the hostess seated us at a table right next to what she knew was going to be a large party of 15 people. We were eating our appetizers when this group came in and to say it was disruptive and annoying is putting it mildly as people were walking around shaking hands and yelling to each other. There were several other tables for 2 and she really should have taken it into consideration. Our waiter was very sweet and apologetic. Next time we’ll request to either sit outside or away from large parties!
We started by Ordering a bottle of Pana water with lemon had to ask 5
times and ultimately they bought lime which was dried out-The waiter took our order and from that point on till the end of the meal we dealt with busboys which was not fun -food was mediocre at bestAlthough I must say the ricotta cheesecake at the end of the meal was top notch
A great night out to celebrate Valentine's Day. Our server was attentive and always willing to find out answers to questions we had about the menu (for example, he said the red snapper was "locally caught" which seemed odd for Palm Beach County -- he checked with the chef and acknowledged it was fresh caught in the Gulf of Mexico). Bartenders recommended a great white wine for dinner and a lovely Calvados for an after dinner drink. It was a little noisy but that was to be expected on a busy night. Overall, a great experience.
It is my understanding that this is a branch of La Masseria in New York City. We have dined there and enjoyed it. This was our first time at the Palm Beach Gardens location. It was disappointing. The quality of the food was inconsistent - delicious: Homemade Stuffed Fresh Mozzarella Cheese; Veal Scaloppini with Artichoke Hearts & Lemon Sauce... and dreadful: Mesclun Salad with Balsamic Vinegar Dressing - insipid, mealy tomatoes, soggy and drenched with dressing; Spaghetti with Clams, Garlic and White Wine Sauce - extremely over-salted. On the good side, the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is lovely, the service was impeccable, and we were cheerfully given a refund for the soggy salad.
Everything about this restaurant was good except for the main course that I had. The service was excellent. When I requested that we sit outside, they were quite willing to move us from where they had planned to seat us. Even though the restaurant is located near a busy road, we didn't notice the road noise at all. The other two in the party were satisfied with their meals. Unfortunately for me, I ordered the whole wheat pasta with vegetable sauce. No, I'm not a vegetarian nor a committed health nut. It was just that I have been eating out so often that I thought: well, if they are offering this dish, they probably know how to make it well....... That was a poor assumption. The pasta itself was one of the worst whole wheat pastas I have had in a while. It tasted bad and the pasta was way too firm. The sauce was anemic with almost no vegetables whatsoever, just a weak tasteless tomato sauce that lacked any seasoning. One of my dinner companions tasted it and reaffirmed my assessment. If you go here, avoid this dish!
The ambiance was wonderful. We also loved the wine selection. We were disappointed in the food. It tasted like a meal from the early 1980’s. There was too much food and my artichoke appetizer was made with lots of mayonnaise. The pasta was very bland. We will try again with hopes that the food will be better.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed are experience at La Masseria from the moment we were seated.
Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and made good suggestions. The cocktails were of a good size (which is not always the case when you are drinking a beverage on the rocks) and the wine list extended. The meal we had was delicious.
We will certainly be returning. A very enjoyable evening indeed.
We have been to La Merseria many times but Saturday night was not a good experience.
Having guests with us from out of town we wanted them to experience a really good restaurant.
The restaurant was very busy but expected at any good restaurant.
The wait staff and managers were rushing back and forth past our table and as I was facing forward it was not a pleasant experience.
We felt very rushed with attendants wanting to remove our plates before one guest had finished eating. They watch over you like Hawks until it looks like you are finished them swoop in to clear the table. Not even offered a refil of coffee.
We will probably go again but not on a Saturday night and would not take guests.
Sitting outside if the weather is OK is a better choice.
Excellent meal, good sized portions, good prices. Excellence service. Easy parking. Get place, pleasantly surprised form one of the reviews we read, will go back. Only downside was our hostess. We had an early reservation and the restaurant was almost empt but she took us to a table next to the service doors for the outdoor bar and it was a cold night! We asked for, and were given, a different table but what was she thinking?
Our server was great. However one pasta dinner was tough, the other dinner wasn’t that good. Pork chop was good but the mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant. That was our second visit. First visit we had a really bad, unfriendly waiter. Have to say we won’t be going back.
Overall the food was good but I being that I am vegetarian, I was disappointed to find out they put pieces of pancetta in their bread. I ordered a side of pasta arriabiatta that definitely had cheese on the sauce. In tiday’s World I think they should be sensitive to potential allergies and disclose any hidden near products. Especially for the high prices.
