We loved this place....so convenient across the street from the Currran Theater and close to Union Square. The owner is attentive and personable. Limited number of tables reduces the noise factor. Nicely decorated and friendly staff with great Tunisian inspired dishes!
Ambience was very nice and food was very good. Convenient location accross from Curran theater. Only criticism I have is that the tables are extremely close together.
Very limited menu and pricey for Middle Eastern food
Lovely spot for dates or small groups. Place only seats 25 or so. Easy to have conversations. Menu is small which I greatly appreciate. Good wine. People there really care about you and it shows.

I took my girlfriend here for Valentine's Day, and I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. The head chef was very involved in making sure we were ordering the best things for our pallet. We loved everything we had. The deviled eggs were amazing, and the lamb with the toast points was incredible. Literally melted in your mouth. We had such a fun time. Very close and personal place, and the flavors are none the less. Will definitely be back, thank you Chef for making our experience so memorable!!
A small fun restaurant with a great location for theaters in the neighborhood. The intimate room means you may get to talk to your neighbors, which we did and had a lovely time. Food was delicious and I enjoyed learning about Tunisian food -- lots of meat and root vegetables, but the vegetarian option was also delicious.

Our second time here, we enjoyed it again. the menu is small, but enough options for all. We had the deviled eggs, very good. Then the lamb shank, short rib and snapper. All were very good. The service was efficient and friendly. Simple atmosphere, but nice. Very small place
Very small place and there was one man preparing all the food and plating it. Another to serve. Didn't see a kitchen exactly, just a broiler(?) it seemed. Everyone there at the same time waiting. Disd get our food in 20 min which was ok. Food was very tasty but the portion was incredibly small. Prices were $25 and $28 for our dishes. Location was convenient for the theater.
We had the fish with mushrooms and the flavor was just ok. I was expecting some great flavor from spices and really lacked. We got both desserts, baklava and creme brûlée. The baklava was missing those yummy honey layers and looked like a square dumpling. It tasted nothing like baklava and can only equate the flavor to fruity pebbles. The creme brûlée had a similar flavor but not as strong. We were not impressed and we talked with the people next to us who also said there dishes were bland.
We saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child across the street and this was the perfect place for a nice dinner in between the two parts!
Excellent meal. The 2 guys who run the place weren't speedy but managed well, and we weren't in a hurry. We'll definitely be back!
Great Tunisian food and excellent service. Not a very extensive menu or wine selection, but what they have is very flavorful and well worth the visit. Will for sure come back soon. 👍👍
We came here in between Harry Potter shows, as did most people there. We really liked the food, very well prepared and tasty! If we're in the area again, we will be sure to keep it in mind.

It's a small restaurant, seating about 20 persons, and you need to be patient because there's just 1 cook and 1 person for service. But it's absolutely worth waiting for! The lamb shank was perfectly done, cooked for 24 hours and falling off the bone. The turmeric spice was simply delicious. My husband had the eggplant dish which was also flavorful and tasty. And the portions were enormous, so come hungry! They have a very nice wine selection, too. We liked the cheese plate, although the portions were a bit dainty.
Super friendly cook and wait person, we sat at the bar facing the kitchen, and had a hilarious conversation with the cook. Clearly, they love their restaurant, take great pride in their recipes. Definitely a unique restaurant in San Francisco and one we'd happily visit again. Not too noisy but not too low energy either, just a nice balance and an enjoyable evening.
Food was unremarkable, portion size varied radically, hard to get server attention despite tiny restaurant. Not really memorable.

This little restaurant is a unique and interesting experience. The menu is limited as the kitchen is tiny. I recommend sitting at the chef’s counter. The owner is the chef (working the kitchen solo) and is engaging and charming, sharing information about the food and culture.
My daughter had the fall-off-the-bone tender, rich but not greasy lamb shank, and I opted for the eggplant dish. Both were delicious. Pricing is fair and the limited menu works.
I look forward to dining there again upon my next trip to San Francisco.

Loved this place. I booked a table here because it was directly across the street from the Geary and I had theater tickets. We were greeted warmly and throughout the meal received the perfect level of staff attention. We started with the deviled eggs. Wow! The spices and the shrimp put a great twist on the common deviled egg. I had the stuffed eggplant and my companion had lamb shank. Both very good. The restaurant is small which helped keep the noise level down its nice to be able to hear your dinner companion. I will definitely come back.
Wow! Unexpected little spot that offers a delectable array of choices. The food was delicious, with layers of flavor. Very elegant, simple, unpretentious, lovely place.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our waiter was friendly and are sure we had all we needed without being overbearing.
Dinner after work. The snapper was very good but could be spiced up a bit. There was no rice, potatoes nor cous cous to the fish. That would have been nice.

This was my first visit to La Marsa, and I will definitely return. The ambiance, value, and food were truly excellent. The restaurant is small and is staffed by only two, so the service was a bit slow, but we anticipated that possibility. If you are dining before attending the theater, I would recommend reserving for 6:00 p.m. or 6:15. p.m. to allow adequate time.
Everyone in our party seemed to enjoy everything they ordered, but the highlights were the deviled egg appetizers (one per person should be adequate), the lamb riblet appetizers with pesto and crostini (very rich), the stuffed eggplant, and the chicken.
Very small restaurant in the theater district of SF right across from the Curran Theatre. This is run by two brothers, who do a great job serving their patrons. The food is delicious and well portioned. Their menu is small, but what they do is fantastic. I highly recommend La marsa.
La Marsa was an absolute treasure of a find during the crazy Dreamforce week. We ended up dining there two nights in a row! At first, I was a bit sceptical of the small menu, but once the dishes started coming out from the kitchen it was evident that the menu was incredibly thought out and well-considered.

My husband and I had a fantastic evening here Saturday night. Food and service is outstanding. You must get the deviled eggs, and I really enjoyed my braised short rib.
