The ceviches were the highlight of the evening. The fish was fresh, seasonings and sauces right on point. Empanadas were also delicious, and the fruit passion and chocolate desert was finger licking good!

Accueil sympathique et rapide, cadre spacieux mais un peu bruyant, personnel à l'écoute et... plats originaux, globalement bien relevés voire même épicés, mais la carte est bien expliquée par les serveurs qui mettent en garde pour les plats vraiment épicés. Mets de qualité. Nous avons passé un très agréable moment en amoureux! Nous recommandons vivement ce restaurant!

WE ALWAYS LIKE LA MAR...BUT THE SIZE OF THE PISCO SOUR AND CHIPS CONTINUE TO GET SMALLER.
My wife and I would ha be enjoyed our visit if the service would have been at least mediocre. Instead our experience started out with out server Fernando, who never greeted us or provided his name (I got it from the check) walking away when we said we had some questions regarding the menu and then seeming flustered and impatient when he returned and we still had questions. The level of service kept steady from there. Menus we’re taken before we could order, dessert menus had to be requested, and several other servers had to be flagged down for simple things such as a replacement napkin or water refills.
Great dinner at La Mar! Ceviche was awesome and good selection of entrees. Service was excellent. Drinks were great too!

The cevich tasting menu and the grilled veggies were great. As were the drinks... but we ordered the grilled octopus and even for 3 ppl, it was way too much and not worth the $79 price tag. And on top of that, they didn’t time the food correctly and one of the dishes didn’t come in time. By the time we were close to being finish with dinner and the last dish didn’t arrive, we cancelled. The server was nice enough to offer it since he said it just got made but we didn’t want to waste food so we decline.
Would come back but probably for the smaller dishes for sharing and definitely the drinks.
We've been visiting La Mar for years and it remains consistently enjoyable, inventive and delicious. The service was terrific and the food never disappoints.

Family visit
I came with a friend for her birthday and we have been to La Mar a few times before. Having been to Peru before and knowing how well the Peruvians know how to cook La Mar definitely doesn't disappoint. The food is delicious and consistent with the service always being top-notch. My only gripe is that they don't have many female servers. Out of all of the times that we have dined at La Mar we have only had one female server (Amanda who is excellent!) and she was the only female on the floor in a sea of male servers. It would be nice to have more female servers to balance out the male energy especially in a progressive city such as San Francisco.
Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend the restaurant to our friends. If you go, be sure to request Amanda!
Best Peruvian Restaurant in the Bay Area. I've been at least 20 times with friends, family, by myself, on dates and to celebrate birthdays and special occasions. Food is just great- expensive, but worth it.
The restaurant itself is very nice waterfront view. The staffs are extremely friendly, professional and the foods are very good. I love this restaurant.

Everything was AMAZING!! I went with my best friend for the first time to get brunch the food was delicious and our server Harold was outstanding, he was on top of everything, very nice and we didn’t feel rushed in any moment, I will definitely come back again and bring more friends! Five starts !

Really loved the food here. Service was good, not excellent but good. The ambiance was very nice. They are not stingy with the amount of alcohol they put in their drinks, which is a big plus!!! I will be bringing my parents here very soon!

Excellent food, nice service. A little bit loud but a conversation can be carried out. The champagne on the house was a nice touch for our anniversary.
Was very hyped for the well reviewed some latodo, but was a disappointment. The meat was delicious, but the veggies were very bland and the potatoes did not have much of a kick. The fried plantains and sauce were exceptional though! Service was very good, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Sadly I've had better Peruvian food for a fraction of the price.
The food was interesting and so tasty. I especially thought the service was ideal. The restaurant was full and festive, but not too noisy.
The food and service was great. Unfortunately, our night was ruined when an obnoxious patron on the table a few feet behind us came to our table and made some vulgar comments to me and my girlfriend. I informed the host on our way out. He apologized profusely.
Great seviche choice, very fresh seafood. Had a bit of a disconnect around seafood dish, as it came breaded not just fried, and we are allergic to gluten. Otherwise, food is good.
