Fantastic restaurant week meal!
The dishes are interesting, fresh, and flavorful. The pisco sour cocktail is the bomb. The ceviches were delicious. Our tasting menu had 11, yes 11, dishes for $65. Practically a bargain. A couple were good, the rest were great, hence the four stars not five. This was our second visit, and we will certainly return and take friends. Go!
Service is a little bit more casual compare to other fine dining places. Beautiful restaurant and the food was pretty good, we enjoyed it and the group thought it was a good pick.
I have made a reservation in a week advance with an additional note asking for a nice table as we were going to be celebrating a special event. When we came in for our reservation, we were given the WORST table, at the very end corner behind the exit door. The host apologized for the Opentable’s mistake and promised to make up for this unpleasant experience by offering us complementary drinks and appetizers. He did not only fooled us by this false promise but also did not even showed us enough respect to stop by our table to apologize again when we asked our waitress to call him to explain what just happened and the reason why he lied to us. Overall it was a horrible experience and as a regular customer of La Mar, we are highly frustrated and disappointed with their poor management and unprofessional behavior and service.
Lots of families and children outside, had to move inside. Too much noise. Other than that, the food and service were great!
Didn’t really have anything great for restaurant week. On top of that the tapas are overpriced, especially in terms of quality. Would not recommend
We chose to go here to celebrate my sister-in-law and brother-in-law’s engagement. I had noted this in the OpenTable app but no service members seem to acknowledge this whatsoever throughout our entire evening, pretty disappointing. The place is a little bit overpriced but solid food for sure. The dessert sampler and empanada sampler were both high notes.
Great food, nice plate, nice color, noisy, service ok
The Restaurant Week "Experiencia" was a variety of delicious dishes. There was a tremendous amount of great food. The service was similar to a local neighborhood cafe and the noise level was just right. La Mar has always been consistently a wonderful dining adventure!
We went for the restaurant week set menu. Tasted 11 different dishes, loved it. Great friendly staff and service!
Food is authentic and truly full-bodied. I highly recommend La Mar to anyone!
Went for SF restaurant week and the appetizers were good but was very disappointed with the small portions of the entrees. The steak in the Lomo Saltado was way overcooked and dry despite the sauce. There were only about 4 strips of beef. The entrees were like the size of an appetizer. I understand a restaurant needs to make money but don’t participate in restaurant week if you’re going to make the portions tiny because you are missing the whole point entirely. Other restaurants I went to for restaurant week had the decency to give their diners normal portion for the $25.25 value, thus enticing patrons to return. Sorely disappointed at La Mar.
The food was excellent, but the service was too much... Between the waitstaff, bussers, hostesses it was way too much. The noise level made it so we could hardly hear each other.
Excellent service, great food, lovely decor.
I was a little disappointed with the cut of meet used for restaurant week specials. I've had it many times before and it was never gummy / fatty like this time. Everything else was perfect.
We have always had a great experience at LaMar. The staff are so welcoming, the food is superb and the view is lovely. Another great meal!
It’s my favorite place in SF.
Always a great dining experience.
Our server Michael was awesome and the food was awesome !
Overpriced but great location and cool ambiance. A nice place for taking out of town visitors after walking around ferry building.
Great food , great ambiance chef Gaston Acurio never disappoints
I have been to this La Mar at least a dozen times and the one in Miami twice. This was the worst experience I’ve had. I didn’t realize that my reservation confirmation said bar area - I would have not gone . My group of 6 was seated at the worst table- right next to a continuously opening door letting cold air in. The waiter was inattentive and the food was off. So much for being an OT VIP and repeat customer. Not likely to return
Great food. Lovely looking and great taste. This was my third time and fore sure not the last.
My options for reservation were bar and counter so I chose bar. We got stuffed in a dark back corner of the bar area that didn’t have enough chairs for the 3 of us. Was a disappointing first time at La Mar but the food was good.
First time here and everything was delicious. Great staff and ambiance!
Mario (Marian?) was spectacular! Patient, knowledgeable, helpful. The food was superb. Thank you!
Had a very long layover in Miami and decided to come here for brunch. It does not disappoint.
Great food - outstanding ceviches. Appropriate wines to accompany the food.
I loved this place. We mostly had ceviche, which was all excellent. The beverages were good too.
The food is good and the service is great. It just is really overpriced for what you are actually getting. Its one of those meals where you spend 300 dollars (without drinks) for 5 people, and then are still hungry and need to eat elsewhere afterwards.
Great restaurant with a nice view off the pier if you get a table outside. Will start out quiet but noise will pickup as lunch hour continues. Parking nearby can be a pain though.
Everyone had a good time at this restaurant we celebrated my wife’s birthday with a variety of foods.
First time I've done lunch here. Order the crab sandwiches and enjoyed the beautiful view of the bay. Twas awesome!
Outside was VERY cold. Started off warm but then the heaters were turned off and it got cold quick.
Increíble servicio! El lugar está padrisimo y la comida es DELICIOSA!!! Muy recomendable!
Fantastic place to have a special brunch with that special someone. Food was great, especially the cebiche. The team was kind enough to give us a cake to celebrate my SO’s birthday. Very memorable experience
Fabulous! Fresh everything with each dish a spoonful of delight filled with flavorful ingredients.
Staff attention to detail is top notch.
Magnificent plates and scrumptious!
Food was good but not outstanding. Realize it is in SF and is expensive, but not a great value.
We visited La Mar vor dinner on January 1st and that was the perfect start into the New Year! To celebrate the new year we had the Experiencia La Mar - and the food was just wonderful! Great taste, wonderful presentation. We also did the wine pairing with some really good pairings. We loved the Peruvian INTIPALKA with the cebiches, had a good rose wine and desert wine. We did not like the Red Wine pairing so much, but that is probably just a matter of individual taste.
Check-in and service during the first two courses was excellent, also the sommelier's visits. After the restaurant had filled up, service got a little less perfect but was still ok.
This is not the perfect restaurant for a romantic date night, as there is not a lot romantic about the atmosphere, but definitely worth a visit for great food, good service and a fun night out.
All in all we had a wonderful dining experience and will definitely come back!
The chips that accompanied the meal fall way short of the variety and freshness that once made me think, “ah, Peru!”. The monochromatic chips served could have come out of a bag.
The courses served were quite good, but a little pricey for street food
The fixed menu for NYE was good but uneven and not great. Service was excellent, especially given it was a busy night. La Mar is typically better than the fare served for NYE. Go somewhere else next year for NYE...
