About
In late Spring, Summer, and early Fall, one can dine outside at the sidewalk café. In true French style, the terrace is lined with flowers echoing the romance of La Mangeoire’s interior.
La Mangeoire offers 3 uniquely decorated dining rooms for private gatherings. Two of these rooms provide intimate settings for business meetings or small social gatherings. For larger celebrations, such as bridal or baby showers, prenuptial dinners, engagement, wedding and anniversary parties, the restaurant can accommodate up to 60 guests
The restaurant is permanently closed. Open table should not have it as a listing. If I hadn't driven past it and seen the Kraft paper in the window we would have showed up for nothing. Open table kept sending me notices including this one to rate my experience at a CLOSED RESTAURANT.
bye bye! You were my favorite, sorry to see you go, but when u return I will give you a try!
Always WONDERFUL, sad to see they are closing,,,but will return with a different menu.
Unfortunately this neighborhood gem will be closing soon to open as a grill serving American food to aim a younger clientele, as the regulars have been aging.
This was a particularly good French restaurant of which we do not have any more. Food was excellent - could go for a light and/or healthy fare or not.
I wish them the best of luck with the new restaurant to open. But La Mangeorie will be missed. The area has no French restaurants but many grills.
Decided to go for nostalgia visit, having had good meals here in the past and heard they are closing. We all had the prix fixe meals and everybody was more than satisfied. Food well prepared and generous portions. They were out of the first 3 wines i ordered-understandable giving their closing and 50% off on all bottles. Manager kindly gave us a decent burgundy at more than the stated discount. Very sorry to hear about their closing and transformation.
Took my boss here for lunch just because. We have been here many times before and it's always a great experience.
Wonderful, reliable food. Sorry to see it closing.
Greta Prix-Fixe, apps, mains and dessert were all outstanding. Charcuterie, Bavette and Apple Crepe were all delicious. Very friendly, professional staff. Beautiful space.
Delightful surprise after an afternoon at MoMa. This place has a wonderful wait staff, which added so much to the experience. Very adult and civilized place.
We enjoyed a delicious brunch outdoors in front of the restaurant. The ambiance was lovely, the food was delicious, and the service was very good. We are looking forward to returning.
We enjoyed a delicious meal of mussels and wine. The ambiance was special and conducive to table conversation. Service was attentive and professional. Lovely dining experience!
Lovely quiet atmosphere and good service. The desserts are really wonderful and the entrees were acceptable.
The food was delicious as always. The service was excellent. The only flaw was that we were overcharged. I had the prix fixe brunch but my wife ordered a la carte but was charged the prix fixe price.
Our food was served promptly served, hot and flavorful. Duck was well prepared with a delicious gastrique sauce. Trout was also delicious. Only flaw was that our waitress did not tell us about specials (which we overheard being discussed at another table near us)
Very welcoming staff. Service was excellent and the food delicious !!!
Service was amazingly rude comparerd to any restaurant at which we have dined in the past couple of years in NYC. It was not crowded at all, so it was hard for us to understand.
Have been here a few times, but not in at least a year.
The coq vin was pretty gross, drenched in salty sauce, pretty much inedible.
My sons steak was fine, but the escargot reeked of jarred garlic.
Our waitress was charming, but didn’t make up for poor food
Thank you to Anna Who was most gracious and responsive. She provided attention and concern where others did not.
The steak luncheon on the price fixed menu was disappointing
and should be removed. The chicken was good.
Brunch was very good and the two entrees we ordered were excellent. The waiter was very good and suggested a wine that was not on the menu, but similar to pino grigio, which I usually order and really enjoyed the generous pour as well. We spent almost 2 hours there and there was no suggestion to rush us out and we could have stayed long if we wished. Truly enjoyed the brunch ad the ambience.
always a great choice, good French food, lovely, attentive service - a favorite place!
Excellent place for a delicious French meal. Agreeable atmosphere and friendly and efficient service.
Mother’s Day
Outstanding French cuisine
The Coq Au Vin was excellent and the staff could not have been nicer
One of our best meals in a long while
This was my second visit - the first was with a fried for lunch and all was superb. This time I brought my husband back for dinner and he believes he now has a new favorite restaurant in nyc. we loved the entire experience!
We remembered it from years ago, when we ate there quite frequently on business trips. The beautiful fresh flower bouquet which greeted us then, is no longer there. The service is still very attentive, our drinks were well-prepared and the food, especially the roasted pork chop was quite good. I am glad we went back for nostalgia's sake, but with so many other choices in NY, I wouldn't rush back again so soon.
Our dining companions had been seated when we arrived but they wanted a different table with more leg room. It seemed to take a bit of their effort in the otherwise "empty" restaurant. When the four of us were finally seated, it took an inordinate amount of time for the waitress to come to the table; her demeanor was less than engaging shall we say. However, when the meal was presented by the servers, all was fine. When my partner and I left the restaurant and our companions, the first thing we said to each other was the waitress should be trained or fired. Sign of bad management!
Otherwise the room is cute and the noise level great for conversation; food was good. I would have raised the level of the value to three stars had the service been better and the wine less expensive.
Good food, excellent ambiance. The wait staff were all very friendly courteous. Our only complaint was that the service was a bit slow, including 20 minute wait to before they came to take our orders. Still, it's a very nice restaurant. We'd like to go back.
I love this restaurant! The food is delicious and well-presented, and I love the rustic French ambiance.
What a treat! The best roasted chicken I've had in years. Delicious and plentiful food. Unique salads. Good choices of wine by the glass. Friendly service. Hadn't been in a while and happy we went. We will be back.
Attentive service but very long wait for the mains. Food average to fair. 50% Monday discount on wine bottles.
We love this place. Dine here every time we are in the city. Food, service everything is always the best
La Mangeoire is a cozy French Bistro serving authentic French Fare. The wine list and cocktail choices are limited, but well chosen. While the food is still very good, the service is not what it was under the previous French regime. Gone are the excellent French waiters and extremely accommodating French host/ manager. The new waitstaff is very pleasant, but service on a Wednesday evening was spotty, disorganized and lacked the polish of the prior staff. The new host/ manager lacked the attentive, warm and accommodating vibe of the prior management. Happily, however, the food remains delicious, from the onion soup, to endive or Boston lettuce salad to the steak frites. Also scrumptiously notable was the crepe with caramel ice cream.
La Mangeoire is a neighborhood restaurant serving truly good French food. I hope that the pleasant staff becomes more attentive and organized and the host/manager develops the attentive, accommodating demeanor we have become accustomed to at this neighborhood gem.
We went to La Mangeoire to celebrate my birthday... we were seated in a small room off the main dining room and enjoyed a leisurely dinner and drinks with the family. Three in our party got the trout almondine, and we all had the house-special crepe... which was divine.
I wouldn't stop by here if you're in a rush... but if you enjoy eating like they do in Europe... this will be a must-stop for you!
My last review for La Mangeoire was not so good, but they got their groove back and it was over the top delicious. We ordered amongst 3 friends, two of whom are food writers, ( not me), boef bourguignon , trout amandine, beet salad, onion soup, endive salad, profiteroles, and glasses of Sancerre.
Everything was delicious. The restaurant is civilized and not noisy. The service is excellent. And it is moderately priced...for a Bistro in New York City.
I look forward to a return visit.
One complaint is that the restaurant is under new ownership, and the new matire d, or owner, is short on charm...so ignore him.
This restaurant has been there forever and had become a sleeper. It has recently come to life again, re-energized by Gary, the new owner, with good French food, very decent wines and an interesting bar. Some dishes are exceptional, such as the lamb chops. The service is friendly and efficient. The place is worth a visit, you will probably return.
This restaurant exceeded my expectations. It was charming, the service was very friendly and professional and the food was excellent. It's the kind of place you like to go when you love very good French food, but don't want the trappings of a formal restaurant. Three of us went, and loved it. I had a lamb special that was gorgeous pieces of very pink lamb tenderloin alternating with roasted tomatoes served over a bed of cocoa beans, which are small white beans. Very flavorful.
As always, La Mangeoire didn’t disappoint.
Good food, great service, good value
Service and food were great. Accommodation made for a GF member of party.. well done. Only wish has more GF choices.... but they handled nicely....
We enjoyed a wonderful brunch here. The eggs were cooked to perfection- everything was delicious. The service was excellent. French country atmosphere- highly recommend.
