With its rustic décor, lush flower arrangements and romantic ambiance, dinners are easily transported to the warmth of the French country side the moment they walk through the door.

In late Spring, Summer, and early Fall, one can dine outside at the sidewalk café. In true French style, the terrace is lined with flowers echoing the romance of La Mangeoire’s interior.

La Mangeoire offers 3 uniquely decorated dining rooms for private gatherings. Two of these rooms provide intimate settings for business meetings or small social gatherings. For larger celebrations, such as bridal or baby showers, prenuptial dinners, engagement, wedding and anniversary parties, the restaurant can accommodate up to 60 guests

A cozy French Bistro serving authentic French fare. The French onion soup was delicious and a meal in itself. The lobster bisque was also very tasty. While they have a reasonable price fixed dinner ($47 pp) that includes a choice of appetizers, entrees and desserts, we opted for the regular menu. The tasty pork tenderloin was tender and accompanied by vegetables. The duck breast was beautifully seasoned and also served with vegetables. The beef borguinon was tender, rich and well flavored with a ramekin of mashed potatoes. The hand cut frites were hot, well seasoned and cooked to crispy perfection. The cocktail offerings are simple and traditional, and the wines, while a bit limited, are well chosen. The atmosphere is warm, cozy and pleasant and the service is accommodating and attentive. (Notably missing were our lovely French waiters and warm, charming French host, although our new waiters were quite good). La Mangeoire is a little neighborhood gem, serving very good French food, and we all enjoyed our evening

My wife and I first went to La Mangeoire in 1978 and have returned periodically ever since. We no longer live in the neighborhood. I understand that it is under new management. The food is still very good and the interior is still charming French country. Dinner on Valentine's Day may not be the best time to judge a restaurant but this was a very nice experience.

We had a lovely evening celebrating two birthdays. The staff was attentive and the food delicious. This is a comfortable restaurant to spend a few hours enjoying the company of friends and family.

Wonderful bistro — casually elegant. Great food and reasonable prices. Half price wine nights are terrific.

Although food satisfactory, has changed hands, and atmosphere dull, restaurant almost empty. Won’t go back

Good food, good service and nice and cozy decor. My favorite was the bead salad. They also have a nice selection of wines and let you try it even when ordering by the glass.

La Mangeoire has changed hands. It is not nearly as good as it used to be. I have been there at least 10-15 times and I probably won't go again. My friend's steak was so tough that she couldn't eat it. They did comp half her entrée cost.

Brunch was tasty and a great value for the area (midtown east can get quite pricey!). Servers were kind and they accommodated out large group with no issue. Eggs Benedict with salmon and egg in a hole were crowd favorites! Definitely would recommend!

unfortunately the food is not consistent. I had the roast chicken which used to be the best in mid-town, now just average.

I come here every Sunday for brunch. The food is amazing and the prices are low compared to everywhere else nearby. $30 gets you bottomless mimosas or bloody marys, an entree (try the eggs benedict), and coffee/tea. The service is superb and the new manager, Gary, is so kind and accommodating!

We tried La Mangeoire for the first time while visiting NYC recently. We were very pleased with our delicious meal and the excellent service. There were many good menu choices but we decided to share the beet salad with greens and toasted hazelnuts which was very tasty and ample for sharing. For our main course we both chose Le Au Vin De La Mangeoire which has been on the menu since 1975! The dark meat chicken, mushrooms and vegetables were very flavorful since they were perfectly cooked and seasoned in the red wine sauce. Again it was a fairly large portion so we asked to take the leftovers with us. We were too full for dessert but it was a wonderful meal so we hope to return during our next visit. Thank you to all of the staff for making it a memorable occasion for us!

They were closed by the Dep’t of Health for over a week, BUT NOBODY BOTHERED TO NOTIFY PEOPLE WHO HAD RESERVATIONS. The fault lies with both Open Table and the restaurant. Obviously, the restaurant has given up, but it would not have been difficult for Open Table to notify those who held reservations through its platform.

I was very disappointed in my dinner the other night. This is about the fifth time that I have eaten here, but I shall not ever go back.
I don't know what happened to this lovely French bistro, but the two dishes I had were dreadful.
I ordered the escargots....One wouldn't think that a French restaurant couldn't ruin them, but they did. They were served in a plate with lots of chopped greasy vegetables over them and hardly any garlic. They were almost inedible.
Then I ordered the coq au vin. There was one dinky piece of chicken thigh and again it was covered with a sauce with lardons of bacon that had not been properly prepared for the coq au vin. The bacon tasted like a raw slab of fat and I couldn't find the mushrooms, or the carrots because they were all chopped up into the sauce which was too fatty and greasy and needed deglazing.
Since I wasn't drinking that evening, I cannot comment on their wine list.
I'm sure that there might be some simple and plain dish there, that could not be ruined, but if a French restaurant can't prepare escargots and coq au vin, they're in the wrong business.
I am very sad to write such a scathing review, but perhaps if the restaurant reads this, they might look and taste their cooking.

Opportunity for us to reconnect with relatives from out of town over a very nice lunch. The restaurant was quiet so that everyone could speak with, and hear others. Menu chocked full of "French comfort food" like onion soup, charcuterie, and salads, along with larger entrees. Service was very attentive. Only bone to pick was the extremely limited wine list, with a mark-up of four times retail.

We have been here 4-5 times over the past three when a group of 5-7 friends gets together in NYC. Always a good time—it’s clearly a French place and they do it well. The service seems to adapt itself to the group’s pace and we’ve always enjoyed it so much, both as a backdrop for our get together sand on its own terms that we’ve never felt the need for a new spot. Very enjoyable evenings.

I always looked forward to dining here when visiting NYC. The change of ownership explains why my experience was so poor at all levels. The food was not what I was used to and the staff was clearly overwhelmed.
