Of the new additions to Pilsen, La Luna one of my favorites. The only issue has to be the inconsistency of the menu. Something that you may love today will simply be off the menu the next time you come in. If you ask about it, the servers have no idea what you are talking about. This happened to me twice, specifically with the bone marrow elote and the panella cheese. I wouldn't call it a destination restaurant and it's not a consistent local favorite either. Hopefully they will find their voice and stabilize their menu.
That being said, I'm always happy with the food and service. It's not meant to be a rushed, quick meal. They completed dinner service and drinks for my group of four in about an hour this Tuesday. To me it felt natural and perfectly timed. The limited food options that they do offer are delicious. The elote (even without the bone marrow) is one of my favorite elotes I've ever had. The restaurant has been around for about 3 months and I've been 5 times. Each time was great. I hope they expand the menu a bit and finalize it.

For brunch I had the menudo which was excellent. The other items on the brunch menu were pretty standard. It is worth visiting La Luna and the interesting neighborhood.

They unfortunately shortened the menu, but everyone in our group was able to find something they loved. If you come on a Tuesday between 5 and 7 they have a dozen tacos for $20, $4 modelos, and $8 margaritas. The Bone Marrow elote is my favorite dish so far. Really looking forward to trying the paella.

Once we received the food it was good. We ordered two dishes and were told it would take awhile because if the dish. No prob. It gave us time to visit. The one dish, paella came out about 20 minutes or so. It was good. After another 20 minutes we asked to check in the other order and asked if the order was placed. After another 15 or so minutes the second dish came out with apologies and an offer of free drinks. Our reservation was for 4:30 so it wasn’t busy. Both dishes tasted good.

Unfortunately I can't remember my waiter's name. Needless to say, I'm not a fan. He almost ruined the experience for us. The food, ambiance and vibe were truly amazing for us. This was a great place. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The music was great, decor and flow was all a vibe. Did have a few concerns though-- they ran out of the carne asada tabla. I'd say it was 9p.. on a Friday. Why are you running out of food? Also, they apparently ran out of limes. Margaritas & tacos are just different with lemons. About this waiter. He was very curt. At first it was something we let slide-- it was busy, maybe he had a bad day-- but it was consistently bad. He even walked away from us once because we took too long to decide our replacement dish (he told us they ran out of the carne asada tabla and expected us to think of something right away). He was clearly bothered by us, despite the nice bill we were racking up. He really didn't want to play nice. I was shocked. Never have been treated so rude before at a restaurant. Like I said, the quality of the food and the vibe and the overall company I shared kinda made up for his attitude, but I just couldn't shake it. He bothered me-- thus the 4 stars.

The Al Pastor tacos had a bit too much cartilage to be enjoyable for me personally but the seasoning and marinade were otherwise on point. The space is cool, food was delicious, service was fairly quick. The bar downstairs is cool but small. Give La Luna a visit!

Nice, clean restaurant that adds a slightly modern take on the average Mexican eatery found in Pilsen. Small menu, which is great, as it adds more focus to dishes available. Despite that, there was nothing unique or incredible. The setting feels great and sets up the food nicely but the food won’t blow you away, so expect simple dishes that won’t introduce anything new.

I think they are still on a bit of a learning curve being such a new restaurant but there were a few things that keep it from being less than stellar. It took our server more than 15 minutes to bring us our drinks and take our food order. Not a huge deal as they were fairly busy and it was a Saturday night. Only three of the tacos were something I would order again but specifically the cochinita pibil was SO GOOD. We did order an appetizer that came out after the food and there was supposed to be shrimp and octopus but there was only shrimp, the waiter did not tell us there was no octopus so we were unsure whether it was not available or they simply forgot. I ordered El Diablito and it was delicious, a bit strong but not overwhelming.

Cocktails were fantastic. Ambiance is lovely (beautiful natural light, clever green wall installation). Service wasn't great. Staff seemed frazzled and we received the preface more than once "sorry, we're really busy." It was a Tuesday and I imagine they were possible understaffed.

Was never asked "have you been here before" or even told about how we should course things out (ie. plates to share or even any recommendations). There was no excitement about the food. Our server seemed eager to get us in and out.

All of the drinks were brought except for one and we were told after the fact (when everyone else received their drink) that the original drink order was not available for the other person (not a biggie but you'd think as drinks were being made we could have been informed BEFORE 3/4 of the order was delivered).

Same thing with our food order. Orders placed and then guess what....no ribeye. So we placed an order for more tacos (all come out together so if you have a large group, you better know exactly what tacos you ordered and what they should look like.)

You receive chips when you arrive which is nice. Ordered guacamole. Guess it doesn't come with chips?
It's a little weird that it's market price. Market price for guacamole? Good for them!

I recognize that new restaurants have kinks to work out. Totally get it. But for a restaurant in Pilsen to have ok tacos and mediocre service, I'd rather go down the street for taco and go to Green Room afterwards for a cocktail. Or maybe, maybe...I would give the bar at La Luna a try but just for a drink. Drinks rocked! Ambience rocked. Service needs some TLC.

So the service at this place was just fine. The ambience was really nice also. I didn't favor the food much, I feel like they need to upgrade that pretty soon. The drinks were also so and so. Overall it's not a bad little place but I'm not going to be rushing back anytime soon.

This place was okay. I had a reservation, got there a few minutes before and still had to wait 30 minutes to get seated. In my opinion, there wasn't anything extraordinary/different about the food. I ordered tacos and they were okay. I could get better tacos down the street and for cheaper. The drinks were okay. The ambiance was good but the space seemed a little crowded. They also have a lounge area downstairs and that seemed cozy but I was not looking for that. Maybe if they revamp their menu, I'll go back.

I visited La Luna with a group of friends on Saturday night and had such a marvelous experience. First of all the upstairs restaurant is beautifully designed with a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. There is also have a well appointed bar area downstairs. Our group of 6 ordered practically everything that was on the menu to share and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we were served. The barbacoa burger was hands down my favorite, well along with the elote steak and veggie taco. Simply delicious! La Luna has a number of signature cocktails that we all tried and enjoyed. Our server was friendly, quick and knowledgeable and the owner visited our table a couple of times to see how we were enjoying our meals. Give La Luna a try you will not be disappointed! Make reservations because it was quite busy. There wasn't an empty table in the place.

I was really looking forward to trying La Luna as the photos of the space looked quite appealing and the menu seemed interesting. The experience however did not live up to my expectations.
We were greated at the door and immediately sat at a table. The music was at a noticeably high volume, to the point where i couldnt hear the person sitting right beside me. There was a lot of "what did yoy say?" Could you please repeat yourself?" After we were sat we were not greated by anyone for over 10 minutes. Plenty of the staff made awkward eye contact with me avoiding any interaction. A lot of "not my section not my problem". We were past by hosts, bartenders, servers, and bussers. I finally had to wave someone down.
Our server once she arrived was friendly but as I stated with the volume being so loud it was hard to hear her; side bar- i am 33 and not a million years old. We ordered our food only to find out they were out of most of the items we ordered. We later found out we had been given old menus that had outdated food choices on them.
The food and drinks we received were good, not outstanding and for the hefty price at the end of the meal I would have expected a better showing.
At this juncture I can not recommend La Luna.

Place looks cute, our server who was nice assumed we were only having drinks so she didn’t bother asking what we’d like to eat until we asked. The food was tasteless, dry and cold. Street corn has better taste and better price. Limited menu, overpriced.

The drinks were good. The mural was pretty.

I would not go here again and discourage people to give into gentrification with these type of menus- support your hardworking elote man over overpriced industry’s menus basically stealing the authenticity of our Pilsen community.

Valentine’s Day night might have been too much for La Luna to handle; the restaurant seemed quite understaffed both on the floor and in the kitchen. Our food took forever to come out and once it got to our table the tacos were very cold. The cocktail list wasn’t so impressive. The ambiance was nice. It appeared to me that all they’re really banking on is location and nice interior setup. So much better value at Del Toro and La Mejikana.

I wanted to do something special for my girlfriend's birthday so I made an 8pm reservation to La Luna. The staff even called me a few hours prior to confirm my reservation. When we arrived at the restaurant we placed an order for cocktails and shortly after the waitress comes back to our table and tells us that the restaurant is closing for the evening because they ran out of food. C'MON SERIOUSLY?! How do you run out of food on a Friday night at a place that is supposed to be open until 2am? You would think that they would at least comp our cocktails, but they didn't. They did, however, give us free shots but I mean cmon now... get it together.
