Fabulous, unusual food and probably the best Mexican I've eaten - and I've eaten a lot of Mexican food. Service was very good. The music was so monotonous that electric beat music which offers no variety at all. It is annoying at 10 minutes - much less 90 minutes. But the food and the margaritas are soooo good!
Love this place! Haven't been in awhile, but the food was as amazing as I remember...Highly recommend!
Fish tacos are so delicious! We always get the same server and she’s so sweet!
From the service, drinks, and food - absolutely amazing!!
Food is decent, but not special enough to justify the prices ($18 for guacamole). The bill for 3 people was $262.00 (1 person wasn't drinking cocktails).
Extremely disappointing: Food was bad! Table unfit for three people! Very disappointing.
I am allergic to spicy food but waiter was patient and went through the menu with me and even went to the kitchen to inquire. Enjoyed happy hour house margaritas since a Monday. The ceviche was a little spicy which I was warned about but it was absolutely delicious and ate some chips in between bites. The shredded pork tacos, plantains and churros were very good.
The fish tacos were really good! The grilled cheese with nachos (and guacamole on the side) was also a highlight.
Upscale Mexican that was simply delicious and SO much food during restaurant week. Wow
Very lively bar area. Nice enclosed outdoor seating with heat lamps. The food was good, but definitely not a good value. We loved the duck flautitas ! They were delicious, but $19 for 2 spring roll size pieces was crazy!
The food was ok; recommend the fish tacos. The ambiance is definitely a vibe
Restaurant week
The waiter charged us for a 20 dollar guacamole we didn’t order. We ordered of the prefix menu during their restaurant week special.
excellent service, honest review about gluten free foods safe for celiac disease! Will definitely be back!
I don't normally write reviews, but I felt compelled to write one because my experience at La Loteria this past Sunday was pretty disappointing. The appetizer I ordered (La Crudite) took a while to come out, so I had to ask about it. When I received it, there was no jicama in it as advertised. Nonetheless, I ate it, but mentioned it to the person who brought it out. I'm not sure if she didn't hear me or just did not care. The cucumbers in the Crudite were also flimsy, which means they were old. My second issue, besides the food also taking much longer than necessary to come out, was that they were out of breakfast essentials like bacon, chorizo, and a one other product. Apparently the brunch from the day before wiped them out, but how do you not have bacon at a breakfast spot? I am disappointed because I've been to La Loteria a number of times before for dinner and it has become one of my favorite spots in the city, but brunch was just a fail. Not sure if there is new management or what. I hope dinner is still just at good.
Food was great but can’t say the same about service. Slow, unwelcoming, and forgot many items.
We love the food and the staff here; they are simply the nicest people. We’ve eaten here at least once a month (often more) since it opened a few years back and we’ve never been disappointed. It’s a great addition to the west village. Long live Loteria!
Great New Year’s Eve experience!! Great for big groups.
Delicious meal & good vibe. Portion sizes are actually pretty big so don’t get too aggressive when your order 🤙 enjoy!
Fantastic food. Yuri the Batman is one of the nicest people you could ever meet, attentive and efficient. Just love this neighbor gem.
My friend and I wanted to try something new in the neighborhood and we’re SO glad we picked La Loteria! We had prix fixe and we’re both stuffed when we left. The black bean soup was sublime!!! I could have made a meal out of the black beans and delicious rice - OMG! I’ll go back just for that! My friend had the chicken tacos which were perfectly seasoned and the chicken was so moist delish! I had the ceviche which was good and came with perfect chips (not at all greasy). The place has a great vibe and the service was attentive. Only comment is that the music was a wee bit loud for lunch time. Also, I’m a bit OCD and noticed some of the pictures were not quite level (I wanted to fix them but my friend talked me out of it - LOL!). Overall we loved it and will def return.
Great restaurant. Food was yummy and service was friendly. Space was very tight though having to move when waiters or people needed to get around us and it was super loud in there. Felt like we needed to scream to hear each other.
Hi. The service was excellent (as always). Every time I come to "La Lotería," they greet me in a way that make me (and my guests) feel very welcome. I wanted to point that out, since my friend I was with that night made the observation. The food was delicious, the Skinny Margarita with Cucumber is super refreshing in every season. The "Ceviche de Pescado" is one of the best I've tried (it always tastes super fresh and the avocado in it is always perfection). I did also love the "Tostadas de Atún," which were Mini-rounded toasts with tuna on top and some micro-greens, delicious. Then, the tacos: I went this time with the Chicken Tacos and the Baja Fish Tacos. I have to say, now I can see why people love those Fish Tacos! The battered fish is cooked (maybe light fried?) as a croquette and wrapped up in a corn tortilla, served with some mild (and more spicy) sauces. It never disappoints, always a great experience there.
Great food. Great service
As a frequent NYC restaurant patron who both grew up in NY and utilize restaurants exclusively as our kitchen, I had a very good experience at this restaurant meeting with a friend. There were just enough options on the menu for wide selection, and yet not overwhelming so you are studying the menu like a course rather than focusing on conversation. The drinks were innovative, delicious and hip. The week night was just the right level of noise for light music and good conversation. The wait staff were very attentive and experienced. The pricing is very reasonable for the scale of food and ambiance. If possible the chairs can be slightly more comfortable but their appearance is lovely for the ambiance.
Comida buenísima y muy buen servicio. Además, la noche que fuimos había música en directo.
some of the best margaritas in town. Yummy! Fresh totopos, and the FLAUTAS are to die for.
The food and drinks were really good. I recommend the guac and salsa's to start!
Always amazing. Food and staff!
Always a pleasure to din there!! Always delicious and consistent!! Staff makes u feel like u are at home !!!
Only reason I gave three stars for value is because the empanada appetizer I got had literally one small empanada as an appetizer. I’m not a big eater but at least a few on a plate would have made more sense for the price.
I feel like if you're going to pay this much, head to fedora or just better yet go to tacombi. Nothing special.
Overpriced and not that good of food. Good drinks.
Great frozen margaritas and food!
Been here several times, great food...best tacos, specials...good value for food too, but the noise level really detracts from the experience. 3 of us ate and left asap since any conversation was impossible. Maybe wait until the outdoor tables are empty?...ahh 7th ave car exhaust...like Mexico City?
I'd choose another Mexican restaurant.
Very poor service, didn't refill waters, and food came out 1.5 hours later and not together. Seems like they forgot about half the meal
Food was also a few steps below Taco Bell. Cold fajitas and the enchiladas may still be in the kitchen
favorite restaurant and staff! always amazing and always treat me great!
Great happy hour specials - especially ceviche! Beware tacos are not happy hour prices - same as regular menu. Yummy margaritas
I indicated when I made my reservation that it was my friend's birthday, but nothing happened with that. It is very loud inside. You have to speak over everything to be heard. The server was very helpful explaining the menu options. The food was very good. The chicharron taco was delicious. The pescade taco was nice. The steak taco was very good and the scallops entree was delicious.
For dessert, I had the churros, which were better than Boqueria. I just wished it was not as loud.
This is my go to place love the staff and the food. Recommend the Ribeye Loteria it is amazing. Honestly all food is amazing just happen to like the Ribeye the best. Highly recollection to give this place a try if haven’t so already.
