Very comfortable setting and the service was fantastic
Went with the entire family (7 people) and everyone licked their plates clean! One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to.
This is the second time I've been to this restaurant. The food and service were excellent (both times). This time, when I reviewed the bill I noticed a charge for an "upgraded" drink that we did not order. I explained this to the waiter, who agreed this was not what we ordered and advised he would have it removed from the bill. The manager or owner then approached the table and aggressively stated that he did not "rip me off and I shouldn't try to rip him off." I explained that this wasn't what was ordered, and even though it wasn't what was ordered, he insisted that the drink was good (and we agreed) and we should pay for it and he wouldn't remove it from the bill. The additional $4 wasn't the point, but the aggressiveness should not have happened. Come for the food, service and ambiance, but make sure you get the drink you order.
Highly recommend the lobster risotto! Love supporting locally owned restaurants.
Great food. Poor service. The last thing I want is a server that makes a point to make us feel uncomfortable when my date orders a couple apps vs an entree. Or tap VS bottled. We ll probably order take out if there is a next next time because the food was very good.
I go here twice a month always great food and service
Really good food, memories from the original La Locanda at Shea and Scottsdale with allegedly same
We were 6 people and when the bill came it was all thrown in together. At a close look we noticed that they were 2 items not ours. 2 items that were returned immediately. when we asked to have 3 checks as we were 3 couples than it got ugly because it was not done correctly. I asked to speak with the general manager very kindly and no return phone calls. The food was good however, the complete value was not worth it.
It just saddens me that we waisted our time there where as we could be in another independent restaurant.
Food was amazing! My husband wanted to tell the other diners to get the gnocchi because it was that good! I had the carbonara, the brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly. The only thing I would say that didn’t go quite well were the cocktails. The blueberry mule had too much alcohol that we asked to put more blueberries in it. I had the manhattan and way too much alcohol, couldn’t really taste the maple. Music was a little loud, they can definitely turn the volume down a bit. Our server was great and food came out fast. We will go back for the gnocchi!
Good excellent as was the service
Great experience at Scottsdale...WE WILL HIGHLY RECOMEMD TO ALL!
The chicken pesto dish as well as the Mozzarella Di Bufala and garlic bread are always excellent.
The Fettuccini Cajun lacked flavor and was not spicy at all.
It was unusually loud with a couple of tables with large parties that had zero consideration for anyone else in the restaurant. We tend to go there because it is usually nice and quiet, but not this time.
The wine list is full of extremely expensive bottles, but lacks the typical “daily drinkers” and the ones they do have are way overpriced at $15 or $16 a glass (the bottle sells for $11 retail).
Enjoy going there and some of the dishes, but a few minor changes could draw additional regular patronage.
Excellent service and food
Noise level was the worst I’ve ever encountered at an evening dining location. Absolutely no chance to enjoy a relaxed dinner and converse among our group. The food was excellent but the server at our table ended up being the bartender who could only take our orders when he could come out from behind the bar! This restaurant is in need of significant changes to its decor and acoustics to equal its quisine.
I love this place so much! The food was delicious and so was the wine. Our server was great. Will be back again and again.
Very slow service.filet of halibut loaded with bones. Not Cool
The food was great. The location one block west of Goldwater Blvd. is the only reason we were able to make reservations the same day. If La Locanda was located one block east of Goldwater Blvd. we would need to book at least one week in advance.
Very good experience!
Over priced for ambiance. Food was ok, but not great for the price.
Steep prices for what you get. My chicken parmesan was a joke. I would be embarrassed to serve that to anyone, especially for that price. Two thin squares of cheese that looked like grocery store sandwich slices on top of a thin soggy chicken breast. Before writing this review I tried contacting the restaurant but got zero response. All I wanted was someone to acknowledge the problem so they could fix it.
The manager was consistently loud yelling across the restaurant at employees. This was a diner trying to dress up as an Italian restaurant. We liked their new space in Old Town, but this original space was not a good experience.
Had a terrific dinner. Food and service were outstanding, would highly recommend.
Good food. Great service
It was our first visit and we will be back. Owner was so accommodating and very nice. Food was amazing
This was our second visit. The First visit the food was delicious! and the service was outstanding. This time our server was not paying attention at all. He did not put the wine on the tab and we had to remind him we had a bottle of wine. At the end we left because he was never bringing our dessert-to-go to the table because he was talking. There were 5 people working and 2 tables, including us when we arrived - we expected much better service. My dinner was very good, but my husband's scallops were not cooked through and he did not eat even half of the risotto-covered meal.
Above & beyond. Exceeded all expectations.
Thursday night and the live music (Jazz with trumpet, sax, keyboard, base) was WAY too loud for the main room so we requested the adjoining room and still had trouble speaking and being heard. Server was not on her game (new?) and the wine we ordered to be served with the food was 5 minutes behind the food. My seafood linguini was fine but my wife's halibut was disappointing. Oh, and I made it a point when I made the reservation that it was her birthday . . . nothing.
The food was very authentic- we loved it all! The muscles, chicken parm, seafood linguini were so good. There was a really great jazz band too!
Great service and excellent food
Food was outstanding and the atmosphere was also really nice. The pasta was homemade and enjoyed by all. Highly recommend!
Food was delicious, and the service was great. It was a little chilly in the restaurant is my only complaint...probably due to a change in the weather.
We’ll be back!!!!
Been here a couple times always great. It did take like 20 minutes to even get water or get someone to notice we had been seated. it was a server who actually came out of his section to accommodate us. it looked like you might be short staffed not sure but food was good: felt like I wanted more but did not want to ask the waiter since it seemed busy.
Very loud and very slow service. Food was ok, but didn’t wow. The mozzarella eggplant app was better than expected, the chicken parm was meh.
I might give them a try again, but not a “regular rotation” add based on the noise, service, and food for the price.
The food and cocktails were fantastic. Only complaint regarding the food was the portion size of the grilled calamari appetizer. My wife and I shared it and it was not much food at all. Overall experience would’ve been 5 star had it not been for the kind of weird ambiance of the back room we ate in. The fact that there was no music playing made it weird because you could hear every detail of the conversation at the table next to you. The furniture was all mismatched in there, and the main dining room was hopping, it was polar opposite which just made it weird. Food was absolutely delicious tho so the overall experience was still fine. But seriously, if they just would’ve had some speakers installed in the back room it would’ve been sooooo much better.
The food was AMAZING. Gnocchi was to die for. Service was alright, but the food!!!
The food and service are amazing. Our favorite place to go!
Understated from the outside…but overall a great meal. All 4 of us had different meals and all were excellent! Good wine list too.
Great food! Our 1st server greeted us by confirming that we wanted "canal water" = tap water...which was not very welcoming! However, we ended up having another younger, less salty waiter serve us, and he was very helpful!
Good cannolis !
Visiting from the east coast and everything was great! Had the special lobster risotto, it was excellent with large pieces of lobster served with the shell. Service was excellent ! Everyone at the table loved their food !!
