Above & beyond. Exceeded all expectations.
Thursday night and the live music (Jazz with trumpet, sax, keyboard, base) was WAY too loud for the main room so we requested the adjoining room and still had trouble speaking and being heard. Server was not on her game (new?) and the wine we ordered to be served with the food was 5 minutes behind the food. My seafood linguini was fine but my wife's halibut was disappointing. Oh, and I made it a point when I made the reservation that it was her birthday . . . nothing.
The food was very authentic- we loved it all! The muscles, chicken parm, seafood linguini were so good. There was a really great jazz band too!
Great service and excellent food
Food was outstanding and the atmosphere was also really nice. The pasta was homemade and enjoyed by all. Highly recommend!
Food was delicious, and the service was great. It was a little chilly in the restaurant is my only complaint...probably due to a change in the weather.
We’ll be back!!!!
Been here a couple times always great. It did take like 20 minutes to even get water or get someone to notice we had been seated. it was a server who actually came out of his section to accommodate us. it looked like you might be short staffed not sure but food was good: felt like I wanted more but did not want to ask the waiter since it seemed busy.
Very loud and very slow service. Food was ok, but didn’t wow. The mozzarella eggplant app was better than expected, the chicken parm was meh.
I might give them a try again, but not a “regular rotation” add based on the noise, service, and food for the price.
The food and cocktails were fantastic. Only complaint regarding the food was the portion size of the grilled calamari appetizer. My wife and I shared it and it was not much food at all. Overall experience would’ve been 5 star had it not been for the kind of weird ambiance of the back room we ate in. The fact that there was no music playing made it weird because you could hear every detail of the conversation at the table next to you. The furniture was all mismatched in there, and the main dining room was hopping, it was polar opposite which just made it weird. Food was absolutely delicious tho so the overall experience was still fine. But seriously, if they just would’ve had some speakers installed in the back room it would’ve been sooooo much better.
The food was AMAZING. Gnocchi was to die for. Service was alright, but the food!!!
The food and service are amazing. Our favorite place to go!
Understated from the outside…but overall a great meal. All 4 of us had different meals and all were excellent! Good wine list too.
Great food! Our 1st server greeted us by confirming that we wanted "canal water" = tap water...which was not very welcoming! However, we ended up having another younger, less salty waiter serve us, and he was very helpful!
Good cannolis !
Visiting from the east coast and everything was great! Had the special lobster risotto, it was excellent with large pieces of lobster served with the shell. Service was excellent ! Everyone at the table loved their food !!
Server tricked our guest into ordering an off the menu special and failed to tell us we would be charged for the water. A friend ordered a Jameson and ginger ale and was brought two drinks that were absolutely disgusting because the server failed to tell us it’s homemade ginger ale with so much bitters you won’t make it past the first few awkward sips. Dinner was lackluster and all 5 of us left hungry even after ordering two appetizers for the table on top of dinner. We left feeling mislead, unsatisfied, and even worse hungry. No repeat diners from this group.
Too loud. Probably due to labor issues wait person seemed stretched. Friendly but needs more attention to clients.
Our first visit to La Locanda and it will NOT be our last. Everything was great - food - service - drinks... everything! Treat yourself and go. We will be back... often.
it was so noisy we couldn't hear the other couple we were with speaking...there were some VERY loud people at the next table....music was too loud....after all a VERY unpleasant evening
We experienced terrible service. We arrived on time and we’re seated for 15 minutes before anyone arrived to take our drink order. Our server rarely stop by to check in with us. I noticed one male server flirting with two young women at the table behind us for quit awhile. The wait staff appears to have a lack of training and time management. We were very disappointed.
Fabulous food and service. We arrived at 5:30 p.m. and it was lovely. As the evening goes on, the noise level goes up. Just a heads up to those who prefer less noise -- go early and enjoy!
Our favorite Italian restaurant in Old Scottsdale. Very good food, friendly service staff and enjoyable background music. Unfortunately no outdoor seating. But we will come back soon.
We had a delicious dinner. Our server Angel was great! I would highly recommend La Locanda!
The service was great the prices higher than expected
Probably not going back
Food and beverage was excellent. Great cocktails and service. Love music was too loud and distracting.
Friendly service. Good food. Excellent deserts. There for Restaurant Week.
Went for arizona restaurant week and it was pretty good. Not very busy at all and the food was good. Favorites were chicken parm and the Caesar salad
The server lady was very nice.
The food was absolutely delicious but I would not go back. Our waiter took at least 15 minutes to take our order, never checked on us after the food came and we were 10 seconds from walking out because he never brought the check.
La Locanda serves splendid Northern Italian cuisine. Carlos is a wonderful host.
The food was great; it was restaurant night. We had two packaged deals. I had chicken parmigiana and the wife had lobster risotto. The desserts were excellent too. The only negative; you have to pay for bread 🥖
Angel was the best. Pampered us and steered our choices to the best dishes
My friend and I went to La Locanda for restaurant week. We loved the 3-course menu options and the food was tasty. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant was busy so it was loud but everyone managed and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend. 5-stars.
They are full/busy and seems like there’s only one person in the kitchen. As u can imagine, there’s quite a wait even for dessert (took a while to make the panacotta and cheesecake?)
Our waiter was nice, but he wasn’t wearing a mask and sadly huffing and puffing in our face whenever he stops at our table.
This was my first time here and will be the last. Their food was good. We were seated promptly and then almost had to ask them where our next course was, for the rest of the meal... our waiter ran by when he did come by. It took 2.5 hours for us to finish 3 courses. It was a disjointed experience. We even had to ask for our bill. There were lots of staff running around so they didn't seem short - they just weren't coordinated in any way we could see.
Such a cute hidden gem! Amazing service and delicious food
Sergio is the best waiter. We always have amazing food and service. It’s so personal. You interact with everyone. The live band in certain night is amazing. It’s like the family, local Italian restaurant you never knew you needed. The food is so delicious and flavorful. Everything on the menu is worth ordering. We always have a hard time deciding. I highly recommend going and supporting a great local business.
The service and the food were both excellent. It was a nice place to celebrate a birthday.
Found this gem while searching OpenTable for restaurants in the vicinity of an art show we were attending. The reviews drew me in, and the experience did not disappoint. We started by sharing a chopped salad and house garlic bread...SO SO GOOD! My husband had the Filet special, and myself the Lobster risotto. Both meals were amazing! The service and drinks, ambience were perfect. Will definitely return. HIGHLY recommend.
