I love this place, amazing french onion soup, and an amazing dessert.
La Kitchenette has become one of our favorite places to eat. As a foodie, it's so much fun to find a place that makes me smile--that certain something that makes the food especially tasty.
Desserts are wonderful!
Great food and nice intimate location. Would definitely go there again!
We loved Tuesday date night, the food, service, ambiance were all excellent.
My all time favorite restaurant! Great food, excellent service and fabulous ambience! I feel like I’m in France when I’m there. Five stars all around!
l thoroughly enjoyed La Kitchenette! The authentic French food was delicious! I found everything to be fresh and enjoyable. The ambience of this small French restaurant is great and the service was very good. The crepes in particular were amazing. Highly recommended!
Brunch date, fantastic menu offerings, superb food, stellar service, quaint ambiance; LOVE this place!!
We found this gem "on the fly" while driving from the National Mustard Museum on a Sunday morning. We enjoyed the brunch menu options, the wine/bubbles list, and the ambiance. It is a small space and feels very urban and open. On Monday, we were raving about it to coworkers who live in Madison. Sharing the love.... this is a keeper.
We had a wonderful meal here! Kind servers and a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious, particularly the dinner and dessert specials they had. Definitely recommend!
We stopped midway to the northwoods and it was perfect!
La Kitchenette is a very small place. They were very busy on Sunday before the Symphony but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our server. The food was very good and we appreciated our server's advice on the menu though she was very busy.
We were seated near the door and it tends to stick and fail to close. It was pretty chilly since there is no airlock and we had to ask people coming in or going out to close the door.
Very enchanting small and authentic French restaurant with excellent food, though limited options. Very attentive and quick service.
The food is great and the atmosphere friendly. And you can practice your French!
An all-time favorite.
Ranged from 3.5-4.5 stars. It really felt like we had stumbled into a great neighborhood spot. It’s rather small; which made it pretty noisy when it was full. But the staff was friendly (and French!), it was cozy, and it felt authentic; even without the staff. The menu was somewhat limited, but what they had seemed to all be great. One dish ordered twice with different results. It was nice to see good quality food reasonably priced-entrees ordered ranged from $12-24. Desserts shouldn’t be missed. Will be back for sure.
The food was fabulous and we had over the top service!
This restaurant is a gem -- excellent food, service, and cozy ambience.
Great experience. Great food and service. The only problem was there was a fly flying around the restaurant the ENTIRE time and no one was trying to get rid of it. Sort of gross
We had fun. It was our first visit. I don’t get much French cuisine and was intrigued. Food was fantastic. Service was great with a friendly staff. Atmosphere was cozy. My only mild complaint is it was a bit difficult to converse with my wife due to surrounding conversations. The price seemed reasonable. We will return.
Great service, great food. Perfect portion sizes and reasonable prices.
First time for dinner at La Kitchenette! What a wonderful gem! The food is outstanding, ambiance is so charming and service was superb! Took a friend that came to visit for the day and we had a great time! Thankfully we made a reservation because it was a Friday night and I think the word is out. We thought the prices were reasonable, as well. Try it! You will love it! Can’t wait to go back!
Great way to try French cuisine. Cute restaurant with very attentive waiter. Great value for the Tuesday Date Night menu.
Saturday night “date night.” We couldn’t have been happier! The first thing that hit us was the smell when we walked in the door, it was amazing. The atmosphere was warm, cozy, rustic and inviting. The food was fantastic, the service was great. I honestly can’t say enough about this place. If you are looking for a high-end, snooty French food, you are not going to get it here. If you’re looking for a place that will just make you happy and serve you comforting, rustic French food, this is it. This is so it. What a gem.
If you use OpenTable to make a reservation, be sure to contact the restaurant to check if it worked. In our case, it did not. Luckily we were able to get a seat at a different time. La Kitchenette was great, OpenTable, not so much.
Great food and lovely ambiance! Forgot I was in Madison.
Great experience. Our favorite place in town. Try the specials, especially dessert!
Cute little place. Unique food. Great ambiance and decor.
Bathroom a bit studfy
Went for a mid-week lunch. The croque madame was one of the best I've ever had. A small, but well-chosen and modestly priced list of French wines. The place is very small, but nicely decorated and comfortable. If I lived nearby I'd probably be here once a week.
A great French restaurant with excellent service and stable tables and chairs. Parking could be an issue as the street is very busy.
A simple but elegant menu. Service w/ a smile. Yummy desserts. Fine wines.
Our second time here and just like last time, it was perfection! The food was extraordinary, the service friendly and professional and we all loved everything (there were 5 of us).
We love the French ambiance of La Kitchenette. The food is spectacular and the atmosphere is charming. We love being able to ride our bikes to dine here. Highly recommend it!
Nice date night special on Tuesdays: bottle of wine, two entrees, two desserts. Everything delicious. The persillade potatoes side is incredible.
Super charming. fresh ingredients. Delicious coffee and fresh squeezed juice! Our server was from Toulouse and indulged my husband’s fledgling French. If you’re hungry, order dessert or an extra item because these are not Wisconsin-sized portions. Would love to return and check out dinner!
Being in La Kitchenette was like stepping out of Madison and arriving in Europe! The atmosphere was lovely. The menu had many great options and after my first visit, I will definitely be returning to try more!
We love La Kitchenette. It's a super cute tiny place with great decor and attention to detail. The food is out of the ordinary, simple, fresh, and delicious. We love speaking French when we dine there and there was a male server who was particularly sweet.
A classic French bistro, what more can you ask for. Madison is lucky to have such a little gem.
We went early (6:15) and we were the only ones there. Throughout our meal more and more people arrived so that by the time we left (@7:30), it was quite noisy. One particular loud talker at the next table kinda spoiled the end of the meal. We have been many times and overall it’s worth going.
Always an excellent experience at La Kitchenette. Highly recommend the Beef Bourguignon!
Dinner with friends, we chose La Kitchenette for their carefully curated menu of fresh foods served beautifully. Virginie is a master at combining flavors.
