The atmosphere was great not to loud we were 2 of the 8 people that were in the restaurant at the time are sever was nice food came out quick but was not good my wife got the shrimp pasta and the shrimp was raw it took a while for the server to come check on us. When we told them that it was raw they didn’t act surprised that it was. Like it has happens before or frequently. They didn’t discount it off are bill or even offer to take it off. The amuse was a pitiful excuse of one and lacked imagination. This was my second time and both experiences were awesome I won’t be going back anytime soon

Our server was not great. Food was fantastic! It was loud due to lots of high school kids for homecoming. Not a huge deal. Overall recommend this restaurant. Will definitely go back.

Excellent in every way. The menu has quite a bit of variety and all of our food was very well prepared. The service was professional and friendly with those extra little touches that make a good dinner a special experience. The kitchen adapted meals to make them gluten free. We will definitely be back!!!

Every entree was excellent. Nice attention from waiter as our coupled guests were celebrating their recent marriage, and he comped them on dessert. Ambiance, as always, was delightful.

We had a party of 7 for a birthday celebration, took forever to get food and when we finally did steak was overcooked and cold, one chicken meal was undercooked and cold, other chicken meal was cold. Then we were told it would take another 20-30 minutes to get the food replaced and if we wanted they could just put it to-go and we could microwave it (and still pay for it) so three out of the seven didn’t get any dinner. They didn’t comp us anything not even appetizers or deserts. The manager didn’t come to speak with us until we asked. This place has been my go to for celebrating and have been there many times. Will probably not go back.

We typically come here for lunch (it’s been about 9 months since we’ve been here) but came for dinner with a group of 8. Three of us ordered the chicken tortellini which was hardly edible because the pasta was so undercooked. We didn’t have time for them to cook more because we had an event to go to. Even if the pasta was cooked correctly, the sauce was marginal. It was loaded with an inordinate amount of onions which over powered the flavor of the sauce. Another person in our party ordered the shrimp scampi which was marginal. The shrimp were cold and the sauce wasn’t a typical white wine or light garlic base, but tasted like a stew with a red base. Again, tons of onions with that dish as well. The Portobello mushroom entree had so many flavors going on that it was just so-so. The two dishes that were good was the salmon and the carbonara pasta that was ordered without meat. Gratefully the manager at least took off the tortellini dishes from our bill. Won’t be going back for dinner anytime soon. Nervous to come back for lunch as well. Pluses are the quiet ambiance and our server was good.

We have loved coming to this restaurant over the years. But this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. There were six of us and my son’s steak did not come in till 15 minutes after everybody else’s food came. When it did come, it was cold. They took it back and either reheated it for re-cooked another but it’s still did not taste very good. And I felt they did not feel bad about the situation at all. They gave us a free dessert. But that’s nothing compared to the $45 I wasted on a steak. I spent almost $200 and was so disappointed. We will not be returning to La Jolla Groves

This was for my sister’s birthday and I was hoping they’d ask about a special occasion but the service felt rushed and minimal. The food wasn’t terrible, but for what we paid I felt really disappointed. Wouldn’t go again and probably wouldn’t recomend. Kind people, but the experience wasn’t as great as I was hoping for.

Every time I go to La Jolla for lunch, it's like a 2 hour lunch. The service is always extremely slow. Business people don't have 2 hours to sit at a table waiting for food, etc. I don't see why the service is so slow when there are generally just a few tables at the restaurant and usually a 1:1 waiter and table ratio. It took almost 20 minutes just to get our drinks form the time we ordered them. The food and atmosphere is amazing, but I can see why this restaurant is so slow at lunch. Not many have time to just sit around all afternoon waiting for their food. Even after we were done eating, it took forever to get attention of staff to get to-go boxes and a check, delaying our lunch even longer. I am actually going to avoid taking clients here for lunch from now on because they get frustrated with how long the lunch takes, as do I. It throws off our afternoon and makes us late to other meetings. Would recommend to a friend for dinner, but not lunch. Would warn about time.

We had a terrific time celebrating my wife’s 1/2 marathon finish and job promotion. The appetizer was a fantastic blend of meats and cheeses along with berries and nuts. My wife had the blackened salmon salad and I’ve never seen her make that face on a first bite. I had the Shrimp Carbonara. It was perfect. Our server was perfect. We will be back.

We found La Jolla Groves on the Open Table app pretty last minute. We were startled by the quality of food and service! Salmon and Beef tenderloin entrees were literally perfect, and Adam our Server was on-point. Highly recommend.

Presentation was mediocre; beef was overcooked, vegetables were cold yet potatoes were hot. Waitress was great and apologetic for the mess up. Food runner had no idea about anything to do with service. Did not know the details of what was on the plate (sauces, temperature etc.) Overall a disappointing experience for the price. Finally, the menu was all sticky and stained.

We had the tenderloin medallions and the salmon filet and both meals were delicious. Both were cooked perfectly, the mango sauce on the steak was to die for. We also started with a blackberry and ricotta flatbread that I will dream about for a while. It was very quiet and the dining room is beautiful.

The food was great and the service was professional. Food was top notch and portion sizes weren’t ridiculously small, I was full by the end of the meal. They surprised us with a free dessert for our anniversary, over all very impressed.

Superb experience. Staff was on it throughout our meal. Very efficient without being obtrusive. Meals were excellent. Started with Bruschetta & Lemon Flatbread. Pretzel was a nice add to apps. Followed with wedge salad, very flavorful & crisp. Onion soup was nice and not too large. Mains were perfect. Tenderloin medallions were perfect. Fish and chicken dishes also on the spot. Mini cheesecake was just enough for dessert. Atmosphere was a compliment to the food & service. What are you waiting for? Go NOW!
