We were delighted that such an upscale restaurant was open on Christmas Day! The staff were so friendly and the food delicious. The holiday ambience added cheer to our visit.

The food here is nothing less than amazing. I had the braised lamb. I do think they have a wine storage issue or something else going on because this is the second time I’d ordered the Meoimi Pinot and it was definitely off. Also the second time I was told it was a new bottle so all I can come up with is a storage issue because we drink Meoimi often and I couldn’t drink this stuff.

Our reservation was for Christmas Day at noon and we were seated immediately since the restaurant had just opened. A few other tables filled during our stay, but it wasn't even at half capacity. That said, our food was delivered about 15 minutes after ordering and was hot and freshly prepared. The quantity was sufficient for a meal. After we received our food we were basically ignored. No drink or water refilled, no checking in. We ran out of refreshments long before our meal was done, too. About 10 minutes after I had finished the server came to take my plate, but left the other which was obviously empty as well. I rarely saw our server and the other woman who was working there--maybe they were working in the kitchen. I did not notice any orders being picked up to go, either to account for the delays. Another 20 minutes went by and I actually got up and walked across the restaurant to (almost) chase down the waiter to ask for my check. I timed this-it's not an exaggeration. He seemed surprised I was even there. He brought it over after a couple of minutes, and I noticed another guest from a different table doing the same. In short-food was good but service was terrible. If you are trying to make money by being open on a holiday you should have the staff to make the holiday meal memorable, as it should be.

Food was great and tasty, specially the ceviche, service was good but very slow, had to wait quite a bit for water and for the check, drinks came at the same time as dinner

One of the only places in the region for Peruvian food, La Huaca presents a nicely appointed space with an authentic feel composed of rich contemporary wood tones, artistic touches, but nothing over-the-top, which would make it look kitschy. In fact, La Huaca reminded me of many restaurants I’ve visited during visits to other Latin American countries. Everything from the warm and friendly greeting to the slightly slower pace of service (but still friendly & attentive), to the plating and menu offerings took me back to some really great times. The food is tasty, although our steak was a little tough and much more ‘done’ than the medium rare we requested. We were there on a Saturday night and were entertained by two dancers in traditional costumes who danced several short sets. It was fun and not so in-your-face that you couldn’t carry on a conversation with table mates.

The food was delicious! Music was nice. Kid friendly. Portion size is a bit on the small side. The service was quite slow and food took more than 40 minutes to arrive.
Oh and yes, this was a Saturday evening.

We ordered 2 items and they were priced $23.95 and $19.95 for New Years Eve. The restaurant itself smelled stale and dirty which was disturbing. There needs to be uplifting of the decorating and design to bring it in line with the pricing. Freshen the air in the place!!!!!

One item we ordered was so small that it was more of an appetizer. The cooking was good but there was a lack of vegetables. Why would you put rice and french fries on ONE entree? Makes no senses. One of our orders had TWO tiny skinny and woody asparagus and obviously asparagus are out of season in December. We could not even chew one of these asparagus.

We might return for a lunch to see if this restaurant has improved. They might have been vandalized as the large front windows were gone and there was temporary wood there. This might explain the odor in the place.

If they want to charge these prices they need to up their game.

We went on Christmas Day, unusual but true. They had a problem with one chef not showing up for work, so they tried to make the best of it. Honestly, we were happy they were open and we got to try some new food. It took a long time to get our meal, because of the afore mentioned missing chef. Mine was a rice and beans plate that I liked but didn't love - I thought it could have had a little more spices. On the other hand we ordered the skewer appetizers and those were AWESOME (the beef and chicken but my favorite was the beef). I tasted the fried rice ordered by someone else in our party and wished I'd ordered it! Very good. I would definitely go back and try again on a better night. The decor was simple but adorable. I recommend the restaurant and the beef skewer appetizers! YUM.

Due to having wonderful experiences here prior, I chose La Huaca as my special thanksgiving dinner location. I’m not sure what happened, but it was nothing like before. The service was terrible. The waiter needed to be flagged down multiple times just to order drinks and ask for more water. The restaurant only had two other occupied tables, and the waiter was more interested in his side work than providing service. In my seafood dish, the mahi mahi was extremely over cooked, and the calamari was too tough to chew ($22.) I asked the waiter about it and expressed that I did not enjoy it, and he basically said that’s how the dish is, and just to eat it. The only saving grace was the pisco tasting. The ambiance also was lacking, and the front window is still boarded up and has been for several months. I will not return. Do not go here.

My wife and I had never dined at a Peruvian restaurant so we did not know what to expect. What we found was a wonderful dining experience. Our server was very engaging and helpful in selecting fantastic items from their menu. The food was excellent! The ceviche was especially tasty. The Pisco Sour was a delight. We will return to try other Peruvian dishes.

Excellent meal from start to finish! What a revelation to this diner, as I don't believe I ever had the privilege of enjoying Peruvian food before this occasion. We were quickly welcomed into a very nicely decorated restaurant, w/ far too few diners given the unique flavors, interesting ingredients, the berry sangria was also delightful. My husband the squid was perfectly tender, as was the fish this one w/ another complex array of spices. We also sampled a quartet of their wonderful desserts. The Peruvian version of flan & the filled, heart-shaped cookie were my favorites. Service was very helpful but not intrusive, as each of the servers were friendly, engaging and willing to explain all manner of Peruvian cuisine, cooking, and spices to the uninitiated. This place is a gem and should be much more crowded. The artwork on the walls, inc. the many, mesmerizing color photos of Peru made this diner want to hop on a plane at the earliest possible opportunity. Peru, the land of the ancient Incas, w/ a culture & cuisine as vivid & bright as their purple corn drink, is right here near Sacramento. All you have to do is try it!

This restaurant was amazing. The atmosphere is very inviting and well themed. Large place with good amount of seating and family-friendly. The food was absolutely incredible I would go back in a heartbeat and will tell friends and family about it. Everything we ate was cooked to perfection and extremely mouth-watering, especially the Ceviche Mixto. The service was ever so slightly slow-ish but the waitstaff was very courteous, friendly and accommodating. Perhaps would have like an additional check-in or two. Otherwise, this place is perfection and I can't wait to go back.

Sadly La Huaca was not up to its usual standard, either in accommodation or food. We had a makeshift table for six, and not in a good place either, and while the lamb shank was good, the causa sampler was poorly made, and not a true sampler at all! It was refunded, but it set the tone for the evening... at least on this occasion.

My wife and I had a lovely time sharing our anniversary dinner there. The food is simply incredible, and it was a Friday evening so there was a trio playing live music. The Tres Carnes was divine and large enough for two to share. Everything else from the bread to the ceviche to the peruvian cocktails was also top-notch. Will definitely go back!

I always enjoy La Huaca. The food was very good and most of it came out at the correct time. The wait staff didn't seem to understand English all that well and requests came slow or not at all. For example, after the first course the fork was removed. We requested another fork and more bread which never came. Ended up taking a fork from the next table. When we told them it was somebody's birthday, however, they really stepped it up. Brought out ridiculous crowns and other headwear for everybody at the table and sang Happy Birthday. So, all in all it was a fun, memorable dinner. For something a little different and great food, I recommend this restaurant. I will go back- spotty service is a bit of their charm!
