Great experience. Food and service top both. Definitely a keeper!
Overall a very good experience. The waitstaff was good, not excellent, but no complaints. The food was very tasty, a bit rich. The wine was very good and my dates cocktail was just as she wanted. I’ll certainly be back.
Hostess was friendly and the waitstaff were attentive. Ordered Frutti di Mare, Short Rib Agnolotti and Trout. All looked and tasted great. Last clam didn't open in the cooking process and so missed a delicious bite! Appreciated birthday wishes and complimentary dessert. Very, very noisy.
Service was exceptional. David was a lot of fun and the food was great as usual. Sat outside and it was far more quiet than inside...nice break from the noise level inside. Can't wait to go back.
Great food and nice outdoor space. Kind of loud inside so we chose outside, great decision
We hadn't been here in years. I wish I knew why, because the whole experience was absolutely wonderful. The food was awesome and the price was more than reasonable. We'll do it again soon!
Service was great. The wait staff was very attentive.
Valentine’s dinner. Eat here often. Great food, impeccable service.
We have loved La Griglia for years but were disappointed in the Veal Scallopini on our Valentines Day dinner. It was very pedestrian and not the quality and flavor profile we have come to expect.
This is a neighborhood go-to spot for us. Love happy hour informal dining as well as lunch and dinner in the main dining room. Had a lovely Valentine dinner with the usual attentive service and great food. They are always wonderful about letting me order my favorite "lunch" salad at dinner and my husband enjoyed a pasta dish. It's hard not to fill up on the best bread basket in town, but worth the will-power to wait for the main dishes!
Always a awesome experience lovely place to enjoy a great meal.
Loved the food. The service was attentive, but really pushy. One of my guests did not order a salad. The waiter brought one and my guest said, "I didn't order a salad." The waiter replied, "it comes with your entree." My guest said, "no thank you. I don't care to have it." The server said, "well, it's good and it's already here so it's yours." There were other odd examples in the service. The room was VERY loud, hard to conduct a business lunch. I was sorry we didn't have a better experience. I wanted it to be a restaurant I added to my lunch meeting sites, but it won't be.
Way below par. Food was served in less than 5 minutes, clearly not fresh. Rushed, Felt like we were at Jack in the box.
Very nice decoration but the crammed seating, noise level and quality of food seriously detracted from the experience. I couldn’t eat more than 1/3 of my trout because of the amount of grease used, but the waiter didn’t even notice or ask if everything was okay. He Justin removes the plate. As well, we made the reservation noting that it was our anniversary but no one came by to say happy anniversary and we certainly weren’t given a romantic spot. I can’t see a reason to return to what should have been a great local experience.
Service was great as was the food! Fun night
Food was delicious however we felt squeezed in as space between tables very small and natural walkways confined. My table mate kept getting bumped as patrons being seated.
Service was also lacking. Had to ask several times for items. My spouse had to get up to find someone for Parmesan cheese for our pasta as none was offered.
Enjoyed La Griglia very much. I am a fan of the Mushroom Lasagna, but really love the seafood, pasta, soups and salads. Service is exceptional.
Awful from start to finish. Don’t bother booking, you’ll be made to wait thirty minutes anyway. Service is shocking, food is poor. Real disappointment.
Excellent food and table service
We were 20 mins late with seating
Noise level is pretty high at night compared to lunch
It was one of our best friends 50th birthday... mention in reservation and to waiter . The waiter should not be in the service industry... we poured our own wine ... he was missing the whole time .... as a Select member !! The manager and trainer must fix this !! Unacceptable !!
Our waiter Tommy in Houston absolutely made the evening great!!!! Very personable- attentive- he's a keeper !!!!
I was unaware that this is "The Grotto" Exact same menu, same decor.
The only problem was the restaurant only has 2 high chairs and Both were being used. I have a one year old and almost had to leave because he has to be in one. Luckily one became available. I suggest adding more high chairs to your inventory.
The food was delicious and the staff very attentive but not overbearing. The Forest mushroom lasagna was great but a bit crisp around the edges. Parking in the area is hard if you are not familiar with the location.
We had a wonderful evening at LaGriglia. Everything about the evening was outstanding - food, wine, service, ambiance! We had a group of 10 and were seated at a round table so we could all visit and enjoy each other. This restaurant is consistently one of my favorites!
The food was wonderful; our waiter Stephen was informative food was exceptional!
Love it! A Houston Classic - Consistently delicious & great fun!
We had a wonderful dinner. Had a few appetizers, so we ended up sharing an entree. Without mentioning it to the staff, they brought it out on separate plates. They were paying attention, even though it was a busy Saturday night.
Very disappointed in La Griglia this visit. Have eaten at La Griglia many times over the years, but this was the most disappointing yet.
Our server was preoccupied with something all night. We had two servers approach us for drinks after we had ordered a bottle of wine; apparently no one know who was responsible for our table. When taking our order he was looking off in the distance and seem to have no interest in help us. The bus boy paid more attention to our needs than the waiter. We only tip 15% in hopes that the bus boy and other servers shared in the tip, as our server wasn't worth 2%.
On to the food...
For appetizers our table had: Lobster Bisque = Very Good, smooth cream broth with a few nice chunks of lobster. Coponata = No so good. More celery than eggplant, no green olives, and lacking olive oil. Caramelized Fennel = Blah. Under cooked and still tough, very hard to cut and lacked the sweetness of caramelization. Caprese Salad = Best appetizer of the bunch. Excellent mozzarella, light, soft and fluffy, appeared to be homemade. Shrimp & Crab Cheesecake = Very good. Unique dish with velvety cream sauce and light "cake", could have use a few more chucks of crab and shrimp.
Entrees: Gnocchi Alla Ragu = Excellent. Great ragu with nice chunks of meat and the sauce had the prefect viscosity. Gnocchi was light, fluffy and perfectly cooked. Didn't appear to have the typical "grooves" to help hold the sauce, the only flaw. Margherita Pizza = Good. Nothing special, need more tomatoes. Veal Scallopini = Poor. Very tart brown butter sauce that took away from the nice tender veal slices. Do not recommend this dish.
The wine list is very expansive with several offerings in a wide variety of prices. Usually 2 to 3 times retail markups, no bargains or "gems" to be found.
Bottomline: Beautiful ambiance, poor service for this caliber of restaurant, hit and miss on the dishes.
The service was excellent. I would expand the menu a little to add more steak choices
It was awful! We arrived at 6:30 for a 6:30 reservation and were told we were “checked in”. We waited 30 minutes with no attention from anyone and finally left. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
Had to track down the waiter even though it wasn’t busy.
Great service and great food. Wish tables were a little less tight. Staff and customers always bumping or rubbing up against you. Noise a bit higher than you’d expect. Definitely try the Gallagher boar chop. Omfg.
First time in this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Food was tasty and service was very attentive. We will certainly be back to try other dishes and the pizzas that are baked in the brick oven over wood fire
Our only issue is that we sat at the bar and it wasn’t busy but service was slow. Worst Cosmo I ever had.
The food and service is always consistent. We all had pasta and every dish was delicious.
Overall food was very good and the ambiance pleasant. Waiter was friendly and helpful but did not follow through on specifics of the order he took, in spite of it being not very busy.
Each time we visit La Griglia the service and quality of food is consistently outstanding.
La Griglia has a menu with excellent variety. So many great options. Food preparation and presentation are special. Service is friendly and attentive. Prices are very fair given the quality. I hadn’t been there for years, but now that I live closer, I will go often.
