First of all, the chef came out and Introduced himself. How delightful! Food classic simple and unpretentious. Back room space is fabulous for private event or rainy weather or secret rendezvous. Bartender was on his game and servers obviously cared to give attentive service. Great Neighbohood spot I could visit every day. Thanks LaGrata team!
We ate at Serafina Harlem twice during the week our daughter graduated from Columbia. We are from Los Angeles and have several food restrictions, including one no-salt diet and one vegetarian. Serafina was accommodating , with excellent pizza, salads, fish and the like. Excellent price-to-quality ratio. Staff is really nice, too!
I have been to all Serafina locations. Was excited to learn that one open near me. Such a disappointment. Terrible service. The food was mediocre. This is a Serafina ripoff! Even the decor and atmosphere are so off! First and last!
We made a reservation and even though we arrived 10-15 minutes late they held our reservation. We had two appetizers: one of them was good (crostini) and one not at all (the bruschettas). The main courses were ok and one of them, the meat, has no taste whatsoever. The service was ok but the waiters were rude at times.
Food was tasty but room temperature. They MUST remedy this if they want to improve. Had a weird experience with an "opened" bottle of wine, they offered the last opened bottle for a reduced cost!! Never experienced that anywhere else. The service when the place was Sezz Medi was crappy and now service at Serafina remains crappy. Someone broke a glass item next to our table and I felt a shard hit my palm. Later that shard stuck my palm and I was afraid that we had shards somewhere else on the table. The staff did not seem particularly perturbed. So, good food, but cold, lack of appropriate behavior by staff, and lack of concern for customers. We may not go back for reasons other than the food.
Very poor service. Guy was on the phone the whole time. Kept taking away my cheese.
A perfect neighborhood spot. Good food and service.
loved this place- food and service were top notch!!
Great meal. The seating is not the best configuration and every time the door opens it freezes the guests in front. Otherwise great spot.
Very slow service and mediocre food. Pizza was watery, friends salad was limp and lifeless. The servers were pleasant and friendly but slow and not attentive. Noise level is quite loud when the place is full but as it cleared out became quite manageable.I want to like this place so will give it another chance.
Poor and slow service. We had reservation at 6.30 pm and we ended at 9.45pm. The food was okay but not to come back for it. During dinner we asked to see the wine list and this never came. Then we wanted some dessert and asked for the menu. After waiting 29 minutes, we decided to get the check and leave. Now the restaurant was not pack. It had three more tables. So we never understood what was happening. Even the manager came to take our order because we were looking for our guy. Ridiculous!
Sarafina Harlem was able to hold our reservation for 6 people as the graduation went late and they put us in a back room where we were able to hear one another and relax. Food was good and the service was excellent. A good find at a very busy time of the year.
We went for mother's day - 9 of us. It was very disappointing. They didn't bother giving us the brunch menu, we had to ask for it, several times. Some food was okay (I enjoyed my brunch pizza) and some was inedible. (My husband's omelet was overcooked and missing cheese). It took a very long time for the food to arrive and several items were lukewarm/cool by the time they arrived. Coffee was really good though (although it's made individually so it took a while).
The staff is helpful, atmosphere relaxed, food pretty good. Easy Friday night dinner. The waiter was particularly helpful in bringing two wines to try before I selected.
Brunch was delicious. The lemon pancakes and Lox Benedict were well done, but the bottomless cocktails made it for me!
Ate a the new Serafina on Amsterdam bear Columbia. Ambiance nothing special, but good dependable Italian- particularly the gnocchi!
It was a snowy day & not busy. The table spacing was suitable for bulky coats. The service was efficient & professional. The menu options were diverse; I have food allergies & had no problems. The food was DELICIOUS. The pizza was exceptional and the portions were generous. Desserts were well-appointed and had the right amount of sweetness.
Best italian food in Harlem ! Must try the truffle pizza!
Everything was great from the food to the drinks, which I enjoyed quite a bit... Definitely returning soon!
Asked for fish well done, waiter gasped and told me it was better rate. It came rare. Asked for ice cream without cookie bowl to meet gluten free diet and it came in cookie. Came again with lemon water ice in bowl without cookie. Asked for ice cream and waited 15 minutes. Waited another 10 minutes for sweetener for coffee which was brought to table without it or spoon.
I was very impressed with the service and the food in this new addition to the chain. In a neighborhood that caters mostly to college kids, it's so nice to have a restaurant that caters to grown-ups! I will be back soon.
I was meeting some friends for lunch near Columbia University and was happy to see that Serafina opened a restaurant there. The food was served quickly and was consistent with the other Serafinas, though the pizza and pasta dishes were a bit oily. Two of us had the grilled calamari salad which was good. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but very popular with the lunchtime crowd because it was busy, even though it was a Monday. Unfortunately, the noise level was extremely high. We would have stayed for coffee and desert, but decided to go someplace else because it was impossible to talk. So, I would recommend the place if you're looking for fast, consistent food, but not if you're looking to have any kind of meaningful conversation.
We wish we could support neighborhood restaurants. But we had a miserable experience. The staff was inept, the food mediocre and the front room was so noisy that it would be impossible to hear your companion. Avoid this place
We had one incident at the restaurant and our waiter Juan knew how to manage the situation and compensate us appropriately.
