   I am compelled to express my deep disappointment with my recent experience at Boucherie of Chicago during Restaurant Week. The service was woefully inadequate and the mistakes with my order were inexcusable. When I politely requested to substitute the dessert with two appetizers, owing to my dietary restrictions, the bartender who served me responded with a condescending smirk, informing me that it was not possible. This lack of accommodation was appalling, particularly given the restaurant's reputation for excellence. A competent server would have summoned a manager to explore alternative solutions, such as offering an appetizer or side dish as a substitute. Instead, the server's unilateral decision left me feeling dismissed and undervalued. To compound the issue, my steak arrived in a state of rare, bloody inedibility, despite my explicit request for medium well. The sole redeeming aspect of my visit was the hostess, who demonstrated exceptional politeness, friendliness and professionalism. However, her efforts were tragically overshadowed by the pervasive incompetence that pervaded the rest of my experience.

   Disappointing experience overall. The beef tartare wasn’t right, service was very slow, and the steak frites were tough and chewy—almost impossible to cut with their steak knife. Definitely not worth it, I won’t be back.

   Plenty of hits and misses about French steakhouse La Grande Boucherie. For the hits, the atmosphere is stunning with warm, classy hardwood. The menu selection is incredible. It’s large with lots of interesting variety. There are few French restaurants in Chicago. As such, it’s rare to see a Beouf Bourguignon on a menu, but they have it here. We got a reservation quick. Our server was wonderful but the front desk didn’t feel particularly welcoming. For the misses, many of the dishes simply aren’t great. The French onion soup was sweet and the steak tartare tasted like a mayonnaise based tuna-salad. Both of our main dishes (Beouf Bourguignon and duck duo) had wonderful flavor profiles, but both were overcooked / tougher than they should had been. The food took a long time to come out. Plus the valet was quite slow. We left thinking La Grande Boucherie was maybe worth giving another shot. But Chicago is a competitive city and at that price point there are A LOT of better options.

   There were gnats flying around us the entire dinner (seated against the east most wall where the stained glass looking wall is) Slow service by the end, we had to take our dessert to go

   Had a reservation for 7:45 and they didn’t seat us until 8:45. The hostess was so rude to us while we were waiting. After 40 min we asked to talk to the manager who was very nice and seated us at the bar with some champagne on the house while we continued to wait. Service was fine but the restaurant was basically empty by the time we ate. It felt like they didn’t want us there so just an unpleasant experience overall. Props to the manager for doing what he could - we wished we had asked for him sooner.

    Food was ok apart from the dessert. We had the Prix Fixe menu. But this was the noisiest restaurant I have ever been in. My wife and I could not hear word the other was saying.
