The food is extraordinary - delicious. The wine was good, but overpriced, $95 for a bottle of reisling. Pleasant ambiance and attentive service, but the big draw is the food.
A friend and I took advantage of Restaurant Week offer. Steak was delicious but the skinniest I’ve ever seen. Food was delicious, nevertheless.
Girls night, good food, slow service, loud noise.
La Goulue was a mid-town staple for years, first in the east 70's and then, for years, on Madison in the 60s. As if by magic, it reopened last year in its current location. It is even better now. It is very French in looks and feel. Hard to choose what to eat from the wonderful selection. Food is fine French, but way beyond bistro. We were a party of four and everyone loved it. Service is attentive but busy, food is really good. The drawback is that the restaurant is very, very loud.
Great place and love to go there in the new location
We were celebrating birthdays. The meal was very good. We chose the Restaurant Week menu. The appetizers of melon with feta and the octopus were delicious. Entrees of chicken, salmon burger and steak were enjoyed by us. The waitstaff was attentive.
The food is just second rate. That is enough. The chicken is tasteless,as is the fish. over-priced in my view
They sent the wrong order out twice. By then everyone had finished. It has always been one of my favorite restaurants and I took my friends there tonight. I was embarrassed.
Nice atmosphere...food was just ok...service was lacking
I went here with my baby boy and my friends.
Everybody are so kind for baby.
First time at new location, great job of creating the same feel as old location. Feels like you’re in Paris
50 th anniversary. They treated us as special guests whe we arrived.
Amazing food and excellent customer service. A little on the expensive side but overall amazing experience!
A NYC Favorite!!!
Always a wonderful evening there!
The service was outstanding and ambiance perfect. Haricots vert and dover sole exceptional.
We very much like La Goulue and find ourselves going for dinner once each week or two. I love the tuna tartare as an appetizer then some fish as an entree. We are delighted that it's now about 2 blocks away from our apartment building
3 stars bc I brought my friends there for a restaurant week. The restaurant week menu was so poor in choices that none of us (4 people) found anything interesting. We ordered from the regular menu. The food was good but ... the price was also “good”. We’ve tried many restaurants during the restaurant week and never had such a problem. We found new “go to” restaurants this way. But La Goulue will not be one of them...
I had read many good reviews but was sadly disappointed. We had the speciality of the house, cheese souffle and it was fair a little dry. Service, considering the restaurant was not crowded, was surprisingly poor.
Great food, wine and atmosphere! I will recommend this restaurant to everyone
Excellent food and service.
always great food and venue. it never disappoints
This is a very good place, excellent food, really good wine. Ambiance very chic, very french. The best bull shot, the foie is very good , cauliflower steak excellent. Average is very good place .
We went for NYC resto week lunch on a weekday, relatively quiet. Menu was limited but tasteful for the items we selected. So a five star for food and the heritage of the resto. Service is horrible and beer in a bottle is sadly overpriced.
The hidden cost of solid employment rate is the service sector increasingly ends up with people who are less suitable for client facing work. Coupled that with priciness, you get a 3 to 4 star rating often.
Flawless execution of a brilliant strategy
We used to go to this place weekly 15/20 years ago. It's gone downhill more than imagine. Steaks were mediocre at best. And trash on street and tables 2.5 inches apart. Lousy experience. Far better places very very disappointing
One of my favorite restaurants, if not favorite restaurant, in NY.
From start to finish it was outstanding.
Perfect in every way.
I am French and felt in Paris for a few hours
Magnifique! Merveilleux! Delicieux!
Great lunch trying new things deliicioysly prepared. The sepia (cuttlefish) was a daring but tasty new discovery.
I felt like I was back home in Paris. And the friendliest staff possible.
This is our second visit t La Goulue and I recommended it to a friend after the first. It has a lovely atmosphere, very good service and delicious food. Also very relaxed, you don't feel like you are being rushed at all. Will definitely visit again, I hope.
Great food and unmatched atmosphere. A must go place whenever in the City
Some of the most amazing food ever. Truffle fries and the sole are unbelievable
A perfect old school French Bistro where everything is absolutely perfect!
There is just something special about La Goulue
Food people decor and ambiance
Classic, old-school French restaurant with class and charm. Revived from it's earlier days in 2 other legendary locations off Madison Ave. It lives up to the celebrated status it once had. Beautiful presentation; knowledgeable, hands-on staff; delicious food; wisely chosen specials. Wish there were more restaurants like this on the UES where tradition, taste, and sophistication (without haughtiness) meet eye to eye.
Incredible! I could have been in Paris! Steak Tartare and Foie gras were absolutely delectable. Just go!
The menu was very limited and the descriptions incomplete. The special was fish over sauted zucchini which I ordered but it came with eggplant and zucchini. I am allergic to eggplant and could taste it infused into my first bite of fish. I had to send it back and then order the steak with frites which was good but took a long time to come. My husband was almost finished with his meal before mine came. It would have been nice for them to rush my new order. I don't think I would go back.
It's in the neighborhood and we come all the time............most times for dinner, sometimes for lunch. We are delighted that La Goulue moved into our neighborhood
This place is an institution and a legend. There is no other place like that on the planet. Setting, service, food, wine list, crowd. All are exceptional.
Very good, authentic French in the best brasserie style; good wine list and polite, efficient, friendly service. La Goulue has always been a wonderful experience. . . in its old or new locale.
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC!
The Tuna Tartare is exquisite!
