We had great service . Food was delicious . Especially the salad. I love the chicken salad.
Food is very good if you sit in the back it is quiet enough to talk great for business lunches
We just came for desert and the level of service is always on point. The hosts and hostess are always so welcoming and friendly
From the reception to the goodbye... And everything in between... Warm neighborhood feeling with a dash of European class. Great service, great food, and wonderful personal touch. Hope to return soon.
french fries not as good as before. but always nice easy place and great ambiance.
This is currently my favorite NYC restaurant. I love the atmosphere, food and service! Best Cosmopolitans anywhere!
Every single detail about our evening was exceptional. This restaurant is fabulous and absolutely worth the visit.
Amazing for any occasion!!!
Delicious food, very nice wine list and very accommodating and friendly service. It is a terrific neighborhood restaurant that is also great for special occasions.
The menu is old school French Bistro and the patrons are the people who enjoy it and are willing to pay for it. The food and wine list is excellent and the soufflé first dessert not to be missed.
Excellent attentive service all throughout the evening and a delicious dinner! Highly recommended
I love La Goulue. My place to go when I miss home.
Excellent food, service , just wionerful. I will return!!
This was a horrendously disappointing dinner. What a mismatch between expectation and experience!
First, the restaurant reneged on their participation in NYC Restaurant Week. I made the reservation off the Restaurant Week page on OpenTable, and was expecting a special menu; however, when I arrived, the host told me "the manager made a mistake" and they stopped honoring their commitment two days prior. No apology, no compensation for the bait-and-switch.
Second, the food was distinctly sub-par. I picked La Goulue because of its reputation and expected an exquisite French meal. What a disappointment! The onion soup had no discernible flavor, and I had to spit out pieces of onion skin. The Frites were limp. The Coq au Vin was three pieces of overcooked chicken under an unpleasant brownish covering; calling it a sauce would be a disservice to my memory of what that sumptuous dish could be. I opted not to get dessert after that disappointing a meal.
Third, the absurd prices. I understand we're in New York and this is a French restaurant; yet, to be charged $12 for a bottle of sparkling water? Really? And I practically had to beg for a second tiny piece of bread while waiting for a meal.
Finally, the atmosphere. The tables are so jam-packed together, it looks more like a communal diner in a developing country, not a sophisticated restaurant it passes itself as. Luckily, the place was mostly deserted - which should have given me a clue at 7 pm. And quiet as a crypt; the sparse clientele was frail and subdued.
Needless to say, I won't be back.
The food and service is always on point. I believe this place to be the best French food in the city! You always feel like family there. Highly recommend
Why do they sit everyone in the back of the restaurant?
I just LOVE this restaurant ! Consistently great service and great food !
Thoroughly enjoyed the meal I had at La Goulue this past weekend. Only issue and it was definitely a minor one, was that service was extremely slow and very uneven.
We went there for Restaurant week. The last time I visited a new restaurant for Restaurant week we had a fabulous experience. But this time they seemed very indifferent to us. The food was OK but rather boring. The service wasnt exactly bad, but they brought the main dish before ny friend had even finished her soup, and they never offered us a 2nd glass of wine or a coffee. It seemed like they were trying to rush us through until we had finished eating, but then we had to wait for 30 mins to get the check. I dont understand - isn't the point of Restaurant week to try to attract in new customers who would then come back, rather than putting them off?
Staff is the BEST! Food excellent and ambience is warm.
Great food, great space and a great environment.
Come with your mother, come with your wife or come with your girlfriend ... they’’ all love it.
Never fails to impress
I think the best French restaurant in NYC
And soon to be in palm beach...if you can’t get a reservation in NY it’s worth the flight to PB for the experience.
Special business lunchtime crowd
Space is pretty and makes you feel like you’re in Paris. Food is consistently good but not outstanding. Prices are high and waitstaff which has changed dramatically over the years are
Excellent as always
Very nice place and food is excellent. People are very nice.
Beautifully prepared food. Friendly and efficient staff. Authentic French bistro ambience.
Very fond of this place, in all its many iterations over the years.
Very nice place for french food. Great foie gras !
Love the restaurant and go frequently. But on this last visit ordered the escargot - one of my favorite item. They were disgusting, tough like eating gristle.
