Love it here. Great food, great service and wonderful ambiance!

All food was cold. Diver sole all came out cold and one came undercooked . Then reheated. Disappointed . Had been a big fan.

Maybe will try again...maybe not

The food was made with care and attention to detail. The ingredients used were of high caliber. I had the goat cheese salad, monk fish, and mango sorbet. A fish as hideous as the monk fish that radiates a pungent smell of female hygiene was prepared tastefully well. Will be back more for date nights.

The service was impeccable but the duck gamey, the Monkfish funky and the portions small. The profiteroles were the best part of the meal. They were flaky and quite yummy.

I went for Restaurant Week and was not treated as a Restaurant Week guest is often treated. Couldn't have been more pleased. The food was excellent. Best fried calamari I've ever had. My chicken was outstanding. The service was friendly and efficient. Loved every minute.

restaurant specifically provided for three courses on the restaurant week website but when you got to restaurant , waiter said it was a mistake and only two courses. La Goulee should honor what they said.

Everything old is new again.. the new Goulue is just as wonderful as the old one. The crab salad and cheese soufflé were outstanding.

A nice little French bistro with (unfulfilled) pretensions to something a lot more. The food was good but not special, especially considering the high prices. The service was friendly but way too rushed. So it was a nice, very average experience, priced like a high-end experience. The last straw was the cocktail, an ordinary Manhattan, no top-shelf liquor specified. There was no cocktail menu, so we had no idea in advance of the price, but the typical cocktail in a good Manhattan restaurant is about $14 to $17, and a cocktail at the Plaza is about $20. The ordinary Manhattan here was $25—which we found out when he got the bill. Nobody likes to be gouged, or ambushed. Shame!

By making an early reservation, my friend and I avoided the rising noise level that started as the restaurant was filling up near to the time we were finishing. Food was perfectly prepared and quite tasty. Ambiance in the restaurant is lovely. My only complaint is that my friend and I like oysters. La Goulue does not offer them on the menu. I called the restaurant on the afternoon of the reservation and was told an oyster selection was going to be available. On arrival, our waiter told us the restaurant never has oysters. Have no idea what the telephone person did to make such a mistake.

The waiter kept trying to upsell the wine suggesting a more expensive one proceeding to “loudly” name the price of each wine and the price difference eg: “for only 40 dollars more.....”. Terrible start to the dinner. Also the steaks were way over cooked -

A true French Cafe in the middle of Manhattan. Great authentic food and comfortable setting, but a bit crowded in that Parisian way.

We had the restaurant week menu and I ordered a glass of Sauvignon blanc which was unavailable, so I was given a dry Chardonnay, which was okay after a few sips. My appetizer was outstanding: the calamatri was crispy and tender, the rouille sauce delicious. The soup was a hot potato leek, unfortunately bland. My entree was the tilefish: absolutely yummy with vegetables in a lovely broth. My aunt wasn’t as happy with the duck leg. We were very glad to be given a dessert and both chose a little pot of creme cafe with a Madeleine which tasted like it was made with semolina flour— very good on both counts. There seemed to be some misinformation about how many courses were included in the special lunch price, but we ended up with three. We were glad for that, and it made a wonderful lunch that much better!

Always great food! A little bit of Paris in NYC. Don't skip out on the cheese plate!

We ordered Prosecco and without warning us they served us a sparkling white wine that was not very good...

I always feel as though i am in Paris when in La Goulue. SO happy that they reopened !

the first course I had to return, it looks beautiful but extremely salty.
The lentil soup was much better.
2nd course the fish tender but the sauce salty and watery like a broth. They should watch out sodium content. The service was excellent and the manager was nice to change my order.

Lunch with the girls during Restaurant Week. We enter the restaurant and we immediately had the feeling of being in Paris in a cute bistro. Even though it's well known that during the restaurant week the menu is not very rich or the best selection is served, I have to say the options were very good, the presentation appealing, the wine we ordered divine ( Pouilly Fume - Loire) and the service at the best. For a Monday, the place was packed, but not noisy. Overall a very pleasant experience.

The French classics are well ensconced. The coq su vin was delectable and rich in taste. Wonderful. The glasses of good French Bordeaux and Burgundy are young, but worthy. But at $17 or $18 a glass - you may wish for a full bottle instead. I tasted the custard with Armagnac and left La Goulue warmed and ready to see the Dutch Masterpieces at The Met.

I went for Restaurant week. The food for value is great. For appetizer, I got the goat cheese dish. The dish was amazing, though to be honest I am not a huge fan of goat cheese. For the entree I had the duck. I would have had it a little rarer, but still delicious. Dessert was profiteroles, which also would recommend.

La Goulue is excellent in all respects- ambience, decor. food, service etc. Although I attended for restaurant week, I did not expect such a superb experience'

A New York City staple reborn! Just fabulous. The original paneling. Food is very well presented and prepared. Very nice wine list.

Beautiful setting and excellent food. Expect a hefty bill and a cramped table. Service was not so great.

La Goulue never disappoints. If your server tells you they have the crispy lobster cake as a special, order 2!!

Lovely room, fine dining and high cafe style French with waiters with French style and attitude. Prime Rib excellent. Monk Fish too salty. Duck very good. Noise level very high. Prices steep but appropriate to the style and service.

Great food and the service was great

My friend monkfish “Bourride Provençale” was ok. The tables are very close to each other. But the Sancerre was excellent.

Food was good. I must admit to being a little disappointed--maybe that is due to my choices and maybe an off evening. Not a wow. For the prices and reputation, it should be. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. It was nice, but I was expecting a wow.

The restaurant week menu. Fair good. Ordered soup, calamari for appetizers. Duck leg was the main course.
Overall, calamari is the best. Soup and duck are in the same level. But the thing impressed me the most is they directly wrote the tips and amount on the bill for me. I don’t like this way, feeling super uncomfortable.

Well-heeled crowd, excellent French Onion soup and steak frites. Salmon entree is divine. Not inexpensive however. $$

We had an amazing dinner at La Goulue. We were seated in a prime spot and treated so well by our lovely waitress and the maitre d. Highly recommend this fabulous restautant!

We went to dinner for Rest. Week $42.00 menu--they did not have the fish dish main course listed, only duck/ dark meat chicken, horrible options/choices, with NO FISH as advertised by them!!!! the fish dishes
listed on their regular menu was $37.00--$55.00!!! They should have given another option fish dish course for the Restaurant Week Dinner Menu.

I participated in Restaurant Week, and had a late lunch with a friend at La Goulue. It was superb. I have been wary of "prix fixe" or other promotions at fine restaurants because, well, sometimes there are "shortcuts." That was definitely NOT my experience here--I'll happily return anytime! Admittedly, the tables for two are very close to each other; otherwise, the food is excellent (hot, appropriate serving size, delicious), the service totally professional, and the ambiance lovely--and very French. Moreover, the staff seemed to be appreciative of our business. Definitely a 5-star experience!

I’m so happy to have one of my favorite restaurants back again. Just lovely food. La Salade Lardons Frisees was as I remembered: consistory good. Wine list is moderate with interesting choices. Noise level also very moderate; nice to be able to chat. Only criticism was espresso: too bitter for my taste. I can hardly wait to go again.

While we all enjoyed our visit, the noise level made it hard to hear. The management placed all of the diners into the front 2 small rooms while there were larger room further back that were pretty much kept empty.
