Lovely setting but food was very very disappointing. Squid was terribly salty even for me. Fried chicken was crispy but covered in paprika. The place is lovely but wouldn’t return due to food!
Lovely lunch fabulous flavours
Roast beef and mussels and chicken matonne were the standouts. Veal and pork were so so.
I am a regular diner at La Goccia but I prefer to eat here when it’s warm and I can be outside as the noise levels inside are pretty terrible.
Long live the sage leaves and anchovies , the best dish on the menu.
Enjoyed the butternut squash dish this time around. Think the charge for toasting a slice of mediocre sourdough is a bit over the top but overall the food is delicious
Expensive for what we had. Nice setting and lovely staff.
Nice sharing plates but felt pricey - probably better for a larger group having drinks and snacks then meal for two, wouldn't recommend the desserts. Service was good.
The quality of the food is very good. They really play up how everything is *organic* and from *their own farm* etc etc. All well and good.
But the portions are so small it leaves us hungry at the end and waking up in the middle of the night. The tagliatelle with ragu is supposed to be a main but it’s three bites and it’s gone. It’s not how Italians serve pasta.
Me & my mum visited & had the pre-theatre menu for lunch. Everything was so delicious & was good value for money considering the excellent quality of ingredients & expertise of the chefs.
We ate from the pre-theatre menu and were therefore early diners. The restaurant was really noisy generally but not helped by an event taking place in an adjacent room. The welcome was lackluster and the service we experienced was extremely casual, too much so. The quality of the food was not as I would have expected of a Petersham Nurseries affiliated restaurant and we were overhaul disappointed with what was our first visit to this restaurant. We would not be in a hurry to return, which is a shame as I am a fan of the Nurseries, but it seems this restaurant in particular is not living up to the name.
The beef was not fresh, it had
Love this place. Nice ambience and location and very welcoming and friendly service. It’s always on my list of go to restaurants when in London.
Poor food . Ambience ok. Generally quite disappointed
A relaxed and friendly approach to dining, with excellent food and cocktails.
Our second visit and this time we chose the pre-theatre menu. Whilst good in many ways the main courses we served on tiny plates and the the fish was literally that - the fish portion plus some capers on top. The risotto was a small dollop on a side plate. Whilst delicious a side of salad or something would have made it much better. Good service with a very helpful waiter and lovely surroundings as always. Next time we will stick to the main menu!
Pre theatre menu at £25 is not good value if you account how much each course cost in a la carte. And charging £4 for 3 slices of bread is ridiculous.
We opted for the pre theatre menu .. the food was good and well presented I chose the hake which was very tasty however it wasn’t clear on the menu you needed to order sides which obviously I hadn’t but overall experience was good
The setting is very beautiful and the service was attentive, relaxed and very friendly. It was a shame we were sat down on a table which was right in the corner away from everybody else and from where all the beautiful decor was.
Food was nice, went for the set menu. Crispy squid was a tad bit too oily but was okay. The pasta was very nice. Chocolate tart dessert was delicious. The only real let down was probably the cocktails. The glassware was a bit uninspiring and they were far too strong. All in all it was a lovely evening. If the cocktails were better, I would be inclined to visit just for drinks as the bar is really inviting.
Overall very good experience (food/service/drinks) but music was too loud to allow conversation across relatively small tables. All waiting staff were very welcoming and friendly and helpful.
La Goccia is a pretty restaurant with a relaxed vibe. The food is delicious BUT the portion sizes are mean - £17 for a side plate size of risotto. They say it is a small plate restaurant and recommend 3 plates per person - so £51 for a decent amount of risotto! It’s rice for goodness sake - albeit delicious!
Our waiter was hugely knowledgable about the menu and very friendly but professional.
A fabulous oasis . Great service and food
Great food. Enjoyed the hake and winter fruits particularly.
We ordered off the post theatre menu. The portions are small but having 3 courses makes up for that! The red current pate was delicious
Kelvin, our waiter, was brilliant! My friend is both Gluten and dairy intolerant and he knew so much about the food. In addition the kitchen were able to adapt most of the options to accommodate her. It made such a difference to our eating experience...and they gave her a complementary gluten and dairy free pudding for her birthday - well done and thank you La Goccia - we'll be back!
Excellent waiter service and weren’t rushed , very relaxing.
Another LONDON restaurant that you need to order many expensive plates (not so outstanding) to really feel you had a meal.
Great place for special occasions. Tucked away in Floral Court, this restaurant is perfect if you're looking to spend a special evening somewhere. Service is great too and accommodating. My only negative point here is that the food portions are very small. We were recommended to buy three plates per person, but even that wasn't quite enough. Coupled with how expensive each plate is, you'll be looking to spending a lot. I can definitively recommend it for one time, but I believe you can find much better value at other restaurants if you're only in it for the food.
Delicious food in a very pleasant setting. Attentive but unobtrusive service. Would highly recommend!
The service has improved so much! The new manager is clearly doing things right! Thank you and congratulations. Excellent for lunch!
We had had an excellent pre-theatre menu here, sitting at the counter. The hake was particularly good and both the chocolate tart and poached fruits were great. Our server was lovely. The counter stools were a bit uncomfortable- very high and there was nowhere to hang a bag so I had to keep it on my knee - a slight source of anxiety! Would definitely return but will book a table next time.
Utterly tastless food. Very disappointed. Total rip off
awful experience as left mobile phone on the table to return 30 minutes later to find it had been stolen. Together with the lack of atmosphere (it was Saturday night) and the mediocre food it is safe to say that I will not be running back. Highly disappointing
Not only was the service shockingly bad and a real disaster, but the food was also such a let down that we were so surprised of how they can operate this restaurant in such a prime location in London.
We also spotted some mice running along the bar, the waiter seemed used to it all as he wasn’t too bothered when we told him
Dined at 12.00 on Sunday so place not long open. Our waiter was very polite and friendly but failed to note 2 of the 5 dishes we ordered and had to be chased up when they didn't arrive. The food that we had was good but portions are small and we won't be going back.
Having visited when it first opened we were really disappointed on the food Saturday evening. The salads were incredibly salty, tartar quite good, pasta and risotto okay but nothing that stood out. Service was very unresponsive and we had to ask them to top up drinks vs them checking how we were doing. Won’t go back or recommend it to others. Was excellent when it opened.
Avoid. What’s the point of a “dining concept” where one risotto arrives 10 minutes after the order is placed yet the other has still not arrived 30 minutes later? Likewise,, what “dining concept” needs 45minutes to cook a seafood linguine? For four diners, two of the dishes ordered did not arrive within 45 minutes of ordering. We had explained we had theatre tickets and only ordered 4 main dishes and two small starters (focaccia and Padron peppers - even these took longer than the squash risotto to arrive). We left with two diners unfed and all four furious at the indifferent and unprofessional attitude of the staff. It may suit the kitchen to cook dishes as and when they like, but it doesn’t suit diners who would like to eat together. There were many empty tables around us so I suspect word is getting out - pretentious restaurant that is best avoided.
I can’t see it written anywhere that it is a tapas style restaurant as described by our server. The prices are certainly not representative of tapas, and the menu is laid out similar to that of starters, mains and sides with prices that suggest that is what they are. Until you are seated, and told it’s all small plates, and they recommend 3-4 each, some of these plates being £16/18, which makes for a seriously expensive lunch. I also emailed re it being my daughters birthday, and I emailed afterwards to say I was disappointed this hadn’t been acknowledged by email or by the restaurant, and at the overall value. Neither email has had a reply. Hence happy leaving a review, as I feel you should always tell the restaurant before the world! The food was tasty, but very small, we had calamari (starter size) some kale, (side size) and a pasta with ragu and pasta with seafood (starter size) and a cocktail each which were £10 each, so not that expensive. My bill was £87.00. We left and went for dessert, cheese and champers elsewhere.
Cold service, weren’t asked once if food was ok, wasn’t offered/asked if we wanted wine, certainly no mention of a birthday even though email was sent 24 hours before.
Big big disappointment and such poor value. I’ve eaten at Petersham nurseries before and it’s been amazing every time, literally the complete opposite, my bill at PN was over £150 last time I ate there and it was worth every penny as the whole experience and service were outstanding, so it’s not about money, but value for money. I wish I’d booked there but my daughter loves Italian food. Big mistake.
Amazing Italian food with an exotic flavour. It is a pity that I could just book a stool on the bar, the place was pretty empty it would have been nice to get a table.
Delicious food with lovely atmosphere and good service.
