great tasty food enjoyed it all staff were v welcoming
Lovely atmosphere and very chilled. Great for a summer's day as there is a super courtyard but also very picturesque at Christmas time.
Service was very slow at the start but improved as the meal went on. Food was good but tables very small for food that comes on a number of small plates! However was a fun night out and good for trying it’s of different things rather than a traditional main course meal.
The food is good but the service is appalling. There were three of us, but our plates were delivered at very different times and we waited an hour for the last person to be served. Very little information on the plates are given when asked. I like the place but this was not a nice experience.
An interesting concept in sharing the Italian way gave scope to ordering probably more than we should have done, but overall excellent value nevertheless. Service was impeccable.
Absolutely loved this restaurant. We were not sure about how good it would be, being so close to Covent Garden , however surpassed our expectations. The food was delicious, the waiters were lovely and made sure that we were looked after properly but not in a way that made you feel rushed ( we actually ended up being the last ones to leave).
Wine list was nice, just a very nice experience and yes we will be back again. Was a little pricey but again for what you got , we were happy to pay it.
I am a regular at la goccia. My friends and family always love the place when I bring them along.
The service wasn’t great. The drinks took ages to arrive and the focaccia was stale. The rest of the food was very good but small portions. At the end of the meal my friend paid her half of the bill but it took 20 minutes for them to find a card machine that would connect since the connection was down. They eventually asked for my details so they could contact me for a payment the next day and were not overly polite about the whole situation which took so long we missed the cab for our booking to our next place and wasn’t even our fault! Won’t be returning here. For this money there are far better places.
Great food great location and ambiance and really friendly staff
Friendly and relaxed with fabulous food. Thank you for tweaking dishes to accommodate my lactose intolerance - especially the hazelnut sorbet.
The location and ambient raise high expectations, but our experience didn't live up to them. The tables are prepared with a simple trattoria style (paper napkins, no table cloth or placemats), and not in line with the elegant surroundings. Service attentive and friendly. More importantly the portions are very small, presented as "cicchetti", but retain a main course price. The venison tartare was quite nice. The tagliatelle Ragu was rather oily and sticky (when meat and veg were so minced to be unrecognisable). But the main disappointment have been on the "bagnacauda" (sauce with garlic and anchovies, side with vegetables) where the garlic smelled distinctly old and sprouted. The manager promptly took it out from the bill (++), but a following dish with kale, garlic and anchovies served afterward was basically using the same unpleasant sauce. Nobody asked about that but we left most of it untouched, and found it in the bill. Best for a light aperitivo.
Service was great. Portions are very small (tapas) and pricing was a higher than expected for the portions. Our waiter did explain before we ordered.
Service and wait staff was fantastic and the food was good.
May think twice about visiting here again because of the dog policy. People behind us brought a huge dog into the restaurant. A waitress tripped over it, dropping a tray of drinks over the floor. She ended up in tears and the manager just asked the dog owners if THEY were OK. And the dog smelled terrible. Dogs should not be allowed in restaurants, full stop. Felt really sorry for the waitress, who will probably get her waged docked.
Fabulous atmosphere and décor, food tasty but many of the choices had cheese!
Service was not very attentive, and had to keep prompting and requesting items rather than being asked.
None of the American Express card machines worked.
Lovely setting and fabulous inspiration for Christmas foliage and decor. The food was delicious, service good but not brilliant. Not cheap but we had a lovely evening.
I have been to La Goccia a few times during last couple of months with friends and family.
Excellent example of honest, delicious and well presented food. In every aspect the staff are always obliging, attentive and friendly.
I’m looking forward to my next visit soon and can highly recommend it.
Great for pre theatre, for a casual dinner based on sharing plates. quick and attentive service
Really lovely setting, friendly staff and great browsing opportunity before or after the meal.
The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. The food was delicious and best shared. The restaurant is a pleasant and relaxed oasis in vibrant Covent Garden.
I really enjoyed the food and the service was excellent - our waiter really looked after us well and guided us beautifully through all the dishes. My only criticism was that I thought the decor looked a bit tired.
Possibly the worst service ever. We booked the place because we had dined at the Petersham Nurseries in Richmond before and wanted to try this one expecting a similar outcome. The ambience is wonderful but the rest is seriously a disaster. Stating from ordering the food until you’re out the door there is not a single good thing to be mentioned. It is amazing how such a ambience can be ruined by bad service. Definitely not going back.
Delicious food and the service was really outstanding. Slightly noisy, making it hard for my partner and I to hear each other, however, that is to be expected on a Saturday evening on London's restaurant scene, and it did make for a lovely, lively atmosphere. It was the perfect location for an anniversary/celebratory meal.
Great atmosphere, food ok, not enough waiting staff, but friendly and professional
This is the second time we have been here and it was mimics looked forward to. Unfortunately our unsmiling maitre d’ couldn’t find our booking and didn’t make us welcome, giving us the poorest table in the bar instead of the window side (which we moved to with the help of our waitress who was smiling and helpful).
There was no pizza on the menu ( we had greatly enjoyed a most interesting one last time - see pic) and so we had the rather uninspired main menu that worked out ridiculously expensive for two dishes plus two odd drinks. My friend had the plaice, which was large - so large in fact that I questioned afterwards if it had been a hake, but the waitress said that she had seen it and it was definitely part of a very large plaice. The problem was only that my friend has a very small appetite and wasn’t expecting nearly so much. It should really have been flagged to us as a man’s dish. But of course it was well cooked and very fresh. My oysters were almost too small to taste and three doesn’t really work. And the focaccia was at least a day old and so hard that we couldn’t eat it. It should have at least been warmed up. Our kind waitress did take it off the bill. My squid linguine was delicious but as small as the plaice was huge, and was served on a flat plate that might not have been warm to start with as it chilled rapidly. It needed to be larger and in a warm bowl. We didn’t have anything else and left disappointed that our expectations were somewhat unmet.
We were a group of 4 adults and 2 babies who visited at lunchtime on Saturday 2nd November and the staff could not have been more accommodating if they tried for people with young babies. They had the table already set up with high chairs and the staff all engaged with both us and the babies which made us feel so comfortable. This isn’t always the case in restaurants and it was so lovely. I didn’t catch the staff names but a special thank you to both the male and female waiter. In addition the food was absolutely delicious (which doesn’t usually come second) and we had a really lovely relaxed afternoon.
The food was fantastic but it all cal at once and we were finished within 30 minutes. We couldn’t eat it fast enough to make room on the table or before it all went cold. It was real my badly timed. Also we were seated in the front area, which was like a cafe and not the level of atmosphere to warrant the cost.
Very lovely atmosphere but hugely over priced for the food we had. 3 mouthfuls of pasta for £16!!!
Terrible service, low quality food, felt like a cafe. Lamb we ordered was just one lump of fat, no meat at all. Chicken also very fatty. This restaurant will not last if it does not improve vastly
We had the lunch set, around £30 per head and the quality of the food was very unexpectedly poor, considering how much I liked The Petersham restaurant next door. The hummus appetizer was appalling and watery, and the dessert was just two different ice creams. The mains, fish and lamb, were ok enough but came with no other sides (potatoes, salad, etc.) and we just had to eat a big hunk of protein on its own. The service was slow and a bit abrupt.
Lovely place for a girlie catch up. Excellent service and really beautiful surroundings.
Overpriced small dishes - ok if you have the appetite of a one year old.
Rude arrogant staff unfortunately ruined the treat .. very disappointing.
Beautiful restaurant with attentive, not-hurried service. A few of the set menu choices were a little bland so you may wish to order a la carte.
Lovely food and interior. Not convinced by the ‘grazing’ concept and quite pricey when you realise they are small plates and you need to order so much.
The restaurant is lovely and the food delicious . The only negative I would say is that the hake dish was tiny! I mean compared to the other plates it was microscopic and certainly not good value . We did not wish to spoil our meal by complaining but I think the might take a look at that because it was ridiculous.
Wonderful lunch with friends - totally forgot we were in central London!
Yes for a drink but not for food, which was good but ridiculously tiny portions!!!! Especially for The linguini: really?!......
Had a lovely afternoon - esp the food - having lunch with 4 friends. Everything perfect apart from in last 1/2 hr which was ruined by noise made by table close by. They seemed abso fine while their 2 toddlers treated the restaurant like a soft play. Squealing and screaming for attention while all their adults studiously ignored them! Kids that age would normally sleep at lunch for a reason otherwise they are loud, grumpy and sleep-deprived. Consideration for other diners? That’s a negatory these days it seems... we are all mothers too!
Best waiter ever! Tasty food in beautifully designed restaurant
Great location and a beautiful restaurant. Specially loved the outside terrace. The food was good although the potions were small and the service was slow at times.
