I have been going to La Gare for years, and have never been disappointed. The menu is well planned, the service very good, and the food excellent. (Onion Soup delicious.)
Nowhere else that I know of in the area can you get such a good meal including soup, salad, entree and dessert for such a reasonable price.
Everything was outstanding. Our server, David, was excellent. If I could have anything to suggest, it would be that the filet of sole was a little salty. La Gare is always a go to restaurant for us for special occasions!
Service was great, staff tried hard and were very pleasant but the food was bad. Not fresh, definitely from frozen and over cooked. Very disappointing.
Authentic French cuisine and ambiance at its finest! Each entree includes sides plus soup and salad, which is unusual these days.
Great traditional French cuisine!!
Average food for a French theme restaurant. My duck was over cooked. The soup and salad provided before dinner was excellent.
Extraordinary cuisine and service as always....for almost 40 years. Always special. Never boring. We love it.
Never disappointed. As usual, everything was excellent.
We have been dining at La Gare for over 30 years and have never been disappointed! Every bite from start to finish is heavenly. We have shared many memorable celebrations at La Gare and look forward to many more!
Two couples celebrating anniversaries. We had a delicious dinner of rack of lamb and filet bordelaise. Loved the cherries jubilee prepared tableside. Our server was very attentive.
Family owned Restaurant in business since the late 70's. Good food, always consistent, reliable.
LaGare has been our go-to anniversary spot for 36 years! We are never disappointed!
We had a wonderful meal at La Gare as usual.. The soup was a home made tomato soup and it wasn't acidic like so many tomato based dishes. It was so delicious and flavorful.. The salad that came with the meal was delicious also.. A delicate butter lettuce with a delightful house dressing that was not over powering. Everyone enjoy they're main course, but I especially enjoyed my New York Steak with peppercorn sauce.. My mouth is still watering, just thinking about it's perfectly done texture and it's wonderful flavor.. Also, I have to add that the vegetables that came with the meal included fresh green beans and carrots. The carrots had exceptional flavor with what ever they had done to them. We all commented on how they were so delightful to taste and cooked perfectly. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and new to serving and was not as attentive to our table as the wait staff has been in the past. That is why I gave the service a 4 stare instead of 5.. But, all and all we had a wonderful evening and the food was exceptional as usual..
We had our 30th anniversary dinner here and it was wonderful! The waiter was very friendly, the service great and the food was excellent!
Was disappointed in the waiter. Did not seem as efficient as in the past, perhaps just a bad day.
Wonderful experience! They were so accommodating for our family and let our kids enjoy themselves too! The food was delicious and very generous portions! The seafood was quality and we had better steak than anywhere in the area.
The service is outstanding, the food was excellent. The owner and chef Roger come to our table to visit and ask how our meals were. The prices are very reasonable considering what you receive. I like that they include the salad and soup in the entre price.
Great Anniversary dinner with excellent service. We asked to have our orders for halibut and sweet breads split in the kitchen and it was wonderful!
Great French food at very reasonable prices! Most meals include soup and salad. Try it I guarantee you’ll like it!
Escargot in the shell from France. Heaven.
Tables very close, great service, excellent food. Authentic American style “French”
Delicious food,beautifully ptrepared, great ambiece
Food was not worth the price, kind of bland actually. Nice atmosphere but disappointed overall. The French would be too.
As usual, La Gare was a very nice experience. Jackie and Roger do a terrific job. The food is always consistent, fairly priced and with great service that is missing in most restaurants. We loved my birthday dinner.

We had a wonderful dining experience at La Gare. It was a surprise birthday dinner with six people attending. We couldn't have asked for better service and food. I had not been there for several years, and was very pleased to find that it is still as good as it had been years before. We will definitely be back again and not wait so long to return.
We had a very efficient and helpful waiter who helped us select a wonderful wine. He was super busy but gracious and knowledgeable when we asked questions. He and the wine were the highlights of the experience.
I grew up in the restaurant business. I was embarrassed to have been the one to select this restaurant for a special night out with friends. I politely listed my food allergies in the notes to the restaurant and asked that our server be able to steer me away from dishes containing those items. As we arrived, I said to the woman checking us in "Open Table reservation for Nancy". Maybe she was having a bad day or something but her only comment was something like "Oh - you're the one with food problems" as she picked up menus and escorted us to the table. No hello, welcome, or "I've made sure your server is aware" kind of comment. I said nothing. Later, our friends commented on how utterly rude and unwelcoming she was.
Other than the beef dish one of our friends had, the other meals were woefully and poorly prepared. One friend's Spanakopita was miserably greasy yet dried out. She couldn't eat more than a few bites. My husband's sweetbreads were cleaned well and prepared well. My sweetbreads, on the other hand must have been trimmed by a novice. Most of what was on my plate consisted of gristle or the thick outer membrane that should have been removed.
Even the waiter was surprised at the pile of membranes when I handed him my plate after eating the edible bits. He kindly offered to get me something else but this was after everyone had finished so I declined. No offer to remove anything from the check was requested nor offered. We just wanted out.
This was a Saturday evening, so I assume they had their "A" team in all roles. Given that, I would not recommend that anyone go there hoping for well-prepared entrees.
This is the best restaurant for a celebration in Santa Rosa. The food is outstanding, well priced and our server, Keith, was magnifique. I had a wonderful birthday dinner here along with five others celebrating à their special day in the restaurant that evening. The Poulet Marco Polo was tender and perfect. The Tournedos were melt in your mouth delicious. Highly recommend!
Great place to celebrate something special. The food is always amazing, never disappointed. The service is always the best too.
It's a good thing we made a reservation, as they were super busy on a Saturday night. Classic menu, including frogs legs, and French classics. This is better than home cooking but not tweezer-food . I had delicious prawns Provencal, in a wonderful wine-lemon-garlic (light) sauce that was super. My husband had duck in an orange sauce, which was a nice big portion and well-prepared but slightly different than the duck-a-l'orange that he expected. Friendly service. People care that you like what you are eating. The Dijon dressing on the salad is particularly good. We didn't order desert, however flambe cherries jubilee and other flaming dishes were being served, so that's super fun. Yes I will def come back.
Food was amazing and so was the service.
Definitely plan on going there again.
Great food, great time!
Never disappoints! It is great! We took a friend there a couple of months ago. He liked it so much, we went again, this time with his husband included. La Gare hit it out of the park again☺️
Well past it’s prime. Apps and soup were good. Entrees were mediocre at best. Over cooked and bland.
Everything was excellent as usual. Service was good but very slow. The restaurant looked unusually busy.
I've been to LaGar before and this time I was a little disappointed. I felt it was a little too dark and the wait staff was almost too frenetic. It would have been more relaxing if the staff moved a little slower and still maintained efficiency. The food was very good, if a little over-sauced.
I have been wanting to go to La Gare for the 35+ years I have been working and both the chicken & seafood entrees we had were exquisite.
The food and service were superb ⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️
