La Gare French Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit to La Gare and it was a great find. We were in Santa Rosa staying at Tara Bella Winery and were looking for a quiet, romantic restaurant to celebrate our 47th Wedding Anniversary and La Gare was perfect.
Our waiter was very attentive but no bothersome and took very good care of us.
The food was fantastic. My husband had the rack of lamb and raved about it. I had the Halibut, which was one of the specials and it was very good. Entree's included a delicious soup and side salad.
Because we were celebrating our Anniversary our waiter brought us a triple chocolate dessert with a candle. Very thoughtful.
I would definitely go back and would highly recommend La Gare to anyone that enjoys good food.
Seated immediately, greeted by waiter, then bread and butter, water and menu's. We shared the Chateaubriand for 2 and we shared one escargot serving. It didn't say potatoes were included on the menu [it was our first time dining here] and when I asked about it the waiter offered to sub rice or veggies. Great service indeed! The food was cooked to perfection and was nicely presented which always adds to the experience. I knew we would not be able to finish our meals and sure enough we needed "doggie" bags. The soup was very interesting, kind of different from any soup I have ever had but was delicious and we both finished every last drop. Salad was equally awesome with a very tasty vinaigrette. No room for desert although they all looked fantastic. We will return.
Our anniversary dinner was perfect. From our waiter's suggestions to his polite and professional attention to us, the evening was as we had expected from LaGare. Delicious food, prepared well, served just at the right time and never rushed.
We recommend LaGare to all.
We had a fantastic dinner from start to finish for our 20th anniversary last week. Started with sharing a crab cake, I had the 6oz Tournedos (beef filet) and my husband had the King Salmon special. The salad dressing is always my favorite part of the meal which sounds weird but it is DELICIOUS. John was a perfect waiter- attentive but not too much so. It was the perfect celebratory dinner.
What a find! Other reviews are spot on. Tim took care of us. Friendly and attentive. My wife had a crab cake appetizer (tasty) and the sole. Nicely prepared. I had the Jacki salad and a wild king salmon special. Outstanding. Simple shallot/wine/butter sauce done exceptionally well. Even the vegetables (sliced carrots, green beans) were yummy.
Highlight was definitely the special dessert - bananas foster. Sugars caramelized just right. Bananas warmed enough to keep the sauce....well....saucy.
Definitely a special occasion place. Thank you for a great start to a long weekend.
Took our sister out for her 70th birthday dinner - her 1st time at La Gare - and all four of us had the Boeuf Wellington. My wife and I have been enjoying La Gare for over 35 years, and it was a pleasure to share as a new experience w/ our sister and her husband. They were both totally wowed by the food, service, and ambience - just what we'd hoped!! Thank you La Gare for another wonderful dining experience!!
We booked (obviously) through Open Table and requested a special table for our anniversary. We had a small table right before the kitchen when several other tables were open. The food was mediocre. I had the king salmon special, the portion was extremely small. Hubby had sweatbreads, which were ok. No WOW factor. Frogs legs were excellent. Bread was soft and tasteless. Won't be going back which is a shame as it's been a favorite for years.
My first time, however everyone else frequent this restaurant often. Our server was great. Very attentive, spot on with anything we needed, and very personable. I had a fish special and was very satisfied, the veal dish looked great too, next time I'll order the Beef Wellington. It looked and smelled fabulous.
