One of the best value meals I have ever had. The incredible service, amazing variety of fantastically French food, and the homey ambiance all at an incredible price for California made this an A+ experience. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants a classic meal prepared flawlessly and with service so good and personal you feel right at home!

Had a date with my fiancé at La Gare. We had a reservation and as soon as we sat the server told us we had to hurry before the kitchen closed. She continued to be rude, abrasive and not considerate for our questions. It was only when she saw our bill climb closer to $500 did she start to try to be more friendly. Their prized French onion soup was nothing more than bland broth with croutons and gruyere. The Wellington was ordered medium rare and showed up completely tough and brown throughout closer to a well done. Both dishes I am sure would be an embarrassment to the Praplan’s if the knew it left their kitchen. The sole dish had character, pate and escargot was delightful and the best in show dish of the night was the rack of lamb which offered a beautiful herbal delight across the tastebuds. The alley ambiance seemed to transform downtown Santa Rosa to an off alley of The French alpines. May try again on the next visit to town but with so many other excellent culinary options available it will be a hard no for awhile.

What a magical way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. La Gare is always our first choice for celebrating special events.

During April 2020, most places were closed and we weren’t able to celebrate our 5-year anniversary. So being able to eat outside in their beautiful outdoor seating was such a treat. The food was amazing and I felt like I was transported to France or somewhere outside of Sonoma County. We had such a great experience and I hope they keep the outdoor seating for good, as I love the option on a nice evening.

My experience at LaGare was wonderful! It’s like going to a friends home! I’ve been going to LG for 35 years and it is always top notch. Better yet is the lovely and cozy environment. The staff are always so congenial and helpful. It’s good to be back to my favorite restaurant!

I highly recommend La Garre! The food is super authentic and very delicious. The service is friendly and from the heart. I went to celebrate my birthday and I was treated wonderfully and made my day.

Wonderful food of high quality with an excellent menu of options. We wished we had larger stomachs to eat so much more. We’ll absolutely be back.

Went here for our anniversary last night and the food and service was great.

Does not honor open table reservation

We had reserved a table outside, but were seated inside. We had to wait for our table for 20 minutes, with other groups being seated before us, with no real explanation. Our waiter appeared overwhelmed, which may have had something to do with the hugely overcrowded restaurant and the number of people who had to be served. We understood that service might be a little off as the business opened up properly, but even allowing for that the service was poor. The food was tasty, wines were good. I think it might have been an issue on the first night of a change in tier.

Wonder place to eat

It was wonderful! The food and service was excellent!

Wasn’t sure what to expect with outdoor dining. But the food and atmosphere was ever bit as good as always.

Outdoor dining was romantic. Plenty of social distancing. As always, food was delicious.

We eat here maybe 2 time a year it's alway be great this time not so good. Sorry to say.
We will give it another chance.

I was A BAD DAY I GESS

The service was excellent but the food was only mediocre it was prime rib Wednesday and the prime rib was just OK the baked potato was good the vegetables so so the escargot pretty good

Food and service was terrific for my wife’s birthday. Made it very special.

We had a great dinner there for our Anniversary. Food, service was amazing!

The service was great, but the food was not very fresh. Good bread, good truffle fries. The salad was drowning in dressing and the frog legs were overly seasoned. All in all, the only thing that tasted fresh was the bread.

Extensive menu, lots of gluten free options. Excellent service.

We planned a ladies night out since we were visiting my sister who lives in Windsor. It was everything and more. Everyone was so helpful, courteous and fun sense of humor with us.

The specials were Calamari and Salomon. 2 went with the Calamari and my sis had her usual Shrimp in the red sauce. As for me, I shared the Caesar salad for 2 with my daughter(she had the Calamari) and I had your Crab cake w/ rock shrimp appetizer. Delicious.
We all had/ shared some of your tasty desserts. Cherries Jubilee for 2, Key Lime pie and Crème Brule.

This was our first meal out with friends since March 2020. The evening was perfect, the Avenue de La Gare was terrific, and the service and food was beautiful. We could not have chosen a more perfect restaurant to begin the our outside dining experiences.

Prawns were just barley warm on the bordelaise appetizer.
Peppercorn sauce was to salty.

Nice French ambience outside. Large floor heaters were used to keep us warm. The staff were very nice. Food was delicious!

Tasty food and wine, paired with a great wait staff. Ambiance is beautiful in the outdoor area. Felt like I was in a quaint restaurant in Paris.

Too cold to sit on patio

This is one of our favorite restaurants I asked my wife to marry me there 33 years ago always consistent after all these years.The food is top notch the servers and everybody that works there is first class friendly super good service this is a model for all other restaurants in Sonoma County. Highly recommend

Excellent as usual!

First time visitors to the French restaurant, and love the service, and that everyone spoke French fluently. The food was country French and healthy portions. The ambience was not so good outside in the alleyway. It could be spruced up, and warmed up with a nice little rug under each table. That would make it more cozy, if everyone were to stay outside. We will try again, thank you.

WE had a lovely dinner to celebrate a family birthday. The food was delicious and our server was kind and very good at his job. We let him know that our young daughters are in French school, learning French and he offered to speak with them in French only so they could practice. La Gare has done a good job of creating a safe, outdoor eating space; we were warm enough with the heat lamps. Also really appreciated their incredible reasonable wine list. Will come back for sure.
