Saturday night dinner
Table was ready
Very busy and somewhat noisy but..
Service was very good
Food was excellent!
I had mussels —my husband fried lobster
This was our first time
After a hour wait next to a window with the hot sun hitting us we never received our food and finally walked out. The waitress kept reassuring us our food was on its way and even almost gave us another couples food that had arrive after us. We ordered fries which I got the dipping sauces but no fries, a crab crepe and the duck. Pretty simple and easy dishes however we never had the chance to taste them. Very disappointed and not once did the manager come and apologize. Will let everyone I know my experience and will never recommend this place.
The food was rich and heavy in butter, not enough vegetables and no options for white starchy foods such as white rice. I was surprised that the bread was not very good either; I expected very crispy crust.
I went for restaurant week at lunchtime. We had reservations which I recommend.
The mussels were delicious and I want to come back to try another flavor of sauce.
We had the pris fixe lunch with three courses. It was awesome. Moules/salad, trout/pork main courses, & a superb mousse au chocolat! We will be back soon. Yummy!
As always. Welcoming, professional management and waitstaff, outstanding bistro food, superbly prepared and presented.
If you like the restaurants on the River Walk, stay there, don't come here.
I dined for lunch for restaurant week and the fish was excellent and a more than generous portion
Belgischen Bier, frites, life is grand.
I absolutely love La Frite! The duck there is amazing...especially when you know I DO NOT LIKE DUCK...except for at La Frite! They are known for their Mussels, which are the best I've had other than on the East Coast. Let's just simplify my review and say I have NEVER eaten anything that wasn't absolutely scrumptious. The Ham and the Crab Crepes are my favorite. Service is excellent as is their beer and wine selection! This is a favorite of mine and my French friends!
La Frite is a great "Neighborhood" Restaurant. Food is great especially the mussels & fries. A good wine list, nice ambiance, friendly, yet professional service. Go there!
We went for Culinaria Tasty Tuesday but were so impressed by everything on the menu we didn’t order the special. The mussels were great and roasted pear with blue cheese salad was very good. We definitely will be back.
Unique menu for San Antonio in a super quaint Southtown building. Food and service were first class, this was our first time but we are already discussing our next visit to la Frite!
We had dinner here this past Friday night and really enjoyed the food. Our server was very nice too. Our table was right next to the front door of the restaurant, so that was disappointing. Our party was crowded and it was hot. The muscles and beer were delicious per usual.
Almost everything about La Frite is fantastic. The food, service, value, etc. is excellent. The nit on my last visit was the incredible loudness in the room on the right as you approach the check-in counter, If you can avoid that room.
We Love this place. However, this visit wasn’t up to par. The service was extremely slow and because there were personal friends of the waitstaff and the owners that kept coming in, we were kind of ignored. It was embarrassing because we had praise this restaurant to our guest so much. There was a group in the other room and they were very loud which made it difficult to have a conversation.
have already recommended to several friends who travel to San Antonio on business trips
We love La Frite - it’s one of our go-to places in the city and we are never disappointed. Highly recommended on all fronts. We are foodies and fairly critical but we are always happy here!
La Frite is an exception to every rule. It is a true European bistro, in welcome, ambiance, service, menu, cuisine, presentation, staff… We spend half our lives in France. This is like finding a little piece of France (or French Belgium) in South Texas, remarkable. Don't go there if you expect a menu with hundreds of items. Don't go there is you desire flexibility to change the sauce, the dressing, the presentation, the accompanying vegetables, the degree of cooking… Don't go there if you like your server to interrupt your conversation every 2 minutes with "how's everything here?" and a false smile. Don't go there if you want overpriced poor quality Tex-Mex Riverwalk "food", thousands of others trying to get the same, mariachi blaring in your left ear… Please don't go there if you want all that. Please leave more space for us.
Great food, wonderful service, nice wine list. My wife and I had dinner at La Frite on a Saturday night. We had a reservation and our table was ready when we arrived. We had the Steak Tartare as an appetizer and each mussels as the main dish. The Pinot Blanc from France was lovely. Our server was very attentive and friendly.
The next time we are in San Antonio we will stop by for dinner again.
We will be back for sure!
This was out third visit to La Frite and it has been outstanding every time. It is a great place for special occasions, or taking visitors to San Antonio for a great casual fine dining experience.
Awesome dinner - had their Prix fixe meal. Trout and lobster risotto were amazing. Reasonably priced wines and a very good selection
We had an amazing dinner; great service; and an all around great time!
One word: MUSSELS!!!! I swear I will be back to try every single flavor. And the frites too! So delicious. Do not let the unassuming presence fool you. This place has some of the best food in SA. Well worth multiple visits.
~a super foodie
P.S. I would have taken photos but I was too overwhelmed at how good my meal was that once I started, I couldn’t stop! Ask for the off-the-menu mussels;)
Awesome as we are regulars!!
We had a fun lunch at La Frite. Food and wine were very good, service was excellent. Will definitely return.
Love this Place! Food is awesome and service is great. Great value too
Great Belgium food. Wish they had the endives cooked as a hot entree but all was great!!
The very best bistro in SA! Could easily pass fir the real thing. A great part of Southtown
15th Anniversary date.
Great food and wine. Beautiful look to the place. Great service.
Best place to go in San Antonio! Great food, great wine, great service!
Thoroughly enjoyed! The food was on point, the atmosphere was pleasant, and we couldn’t have wished for anything more.
Great experience apart from the A/C not working on a hot June evening
great mussels, good selection of beer and wines. parking available but limited. enthusiastic and efficient staff. --wish they had real duckfat frites.
My wife and I have dined there on several occasions. We keep coming back because of the food is quite good. The staff is always welcoming and knowledgeable. The cold cucumber soup was refreshing. Recommended the seafood pastry. A nice selection of deserts rounds everything out. You may order pre fixe or alacarte. Nice wine selection too.
We ordered the price fix menu and the selections were delicious.
Amazing food and ambient!!! Excellent sercice. We were by the window so it was a little bit hot.
Great evening... loved the food.. truly enjoyed our time
The food at La Frite was, as always, fabulous and the Donelleys are wonderful hosts. My only complaint is the deafening noise level. I will be back.
