Never disappoints! As in the past, they make you feel welcomed and they remain attentive from beginning to end. A fabulous menu and everything was delicious.
Great Restaurant for Dinner or special occasions, Food out of this world!
Great time, excellent food, attentive service
We had a group of 15 persons for a business dinner. The location and atmosphere made our dinner pretty special for your typical business dinner. Great service and great food. Definitely a must-visit when in San Jose, CA.
We return time and again to what is arguably the best restaurant in the San Jose area. The setting is beautiful, the servers are charming and attentive, the small bar is comfortable. The food is extraordinary, with a wide selection. We have never been disappointed. This is a high end place, and lots of folks dress on the upscale side.
GREAT SERVICE, beautiful setting!!
My pasta was too spicy, looks like it had chilli flakes ?! :(
Other than that everything was great
Service was outstanding and the entrees were delicious. The noise level was rather high though and at times you couldn't hear each other speak.
It was a great evening. Sammy took good care of us! Definitely going back.
Place was empty on a Friday night. They cut the portions in half and jacked up the prices. New ownership needs to read the room... there's nobody in it for a reason.
Posed as a French restaurant, however, this location should market themselves as a 'wild game' restaurant. It had a handful of French dishes as a reference but the preparation was far from it. The sauces were either extremely sweet or extremely salty.
The ambiance was disappointedly not romantic, and seemed to be more for business dinners.
There was a very loud group in the corner that should have been sat upstairs to allow others to enjoy the ambiance.
Prices do not match quality or experience.
Wonderful for a special occasion. Limited items for vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free. Food and wine is delicious but a bit pricey compared to the "old" La Foret.
We went for our 15 year wedding anniversary. We loved it!
A great experience for a special occasion. Compares well to the best restaurants we have enjoyed in Europe.
We had an excellent brunch at La Foret. The setting is delightful and relaxing. As always, food and service were excellent. We love the new addition of a variety of fresh vegetables.
This place is one-of-a-kind Terrific. Romantic. Special
The place has a great atmosphere for a romantic dinner or anniversary. Great staff, service, background music. The tasting menus offered a good choice of food, paired wine really complemented it. However, I was expecting more unusual choices for a chef restaurant. Driving to the almaden hills and paying the nice amount of money, I would expect to be wowed with how the food looks and tastes like. I wasn't. Not sure that I will come back.
Food was delicious. Went for the soufles Outstanding!!
La Foret is an absolute gem! It is a wonderful place for a romantic dinner or for a get-together with friends. The restaurant was quiet on the night we went. Not sure what Friday or Saturday night would be like. The food was fantastic, the service was just perfect, and the staff truly want to make the dining experience special. They were all very friendly, attentive, but very quiet and unobtrusive. The portions of food were just right. The dining room overlooks the creek area so you are looking out at a wooded area not at houses or other businesses. It is a very romantic setting. The restaurant is located at the end of a road that runs along the creek so just be careful to look out for deer when you leave at night.
A nice restaurant, but overpriced for what the overall quality of the food served, which was just average. Their famous soufflé's dessert was a disappointment. It would work, though, if you just ordered from their appetizer menu and paired it with good wine. A long drive to South San Jose.
The food was some of the best we’ve ever had. The service was friendly and overall timely but was severely lacking in presentation- for example, most wines in their most expensive wine pairing they would just drop the glasses on our table and wouldn’t even tell us what kind of wine it was, much less anything about the vineyard or vintage. Also, no one could answer basic questions about the food. Huge gap between the quality of food and the service
Hidden gem in Almaden
Food is great, but little bit pricey
A FABULOUS PLACE TO CELEBRATE ! ! ! TOTALLY AWESOME ! ! !
EVERY SINGLE DISH WAS OUTSTANDING ! ! !
Very romantic and intimate dining space tucked away in the mountains, however easy to drive to and with adequate parking. My husband surprised me with an anniversary dinner, and the servers were more than friendly. Would come back for another occasion.
As always our meal on Friday evening was excellent. The menu includes old favorites as well as newer specials and did not disappoint. The service from Eva was impeccable, and all the food was hot and delicious. Our anniversary celebration was made even more special buy a complimentary dessert sampler and a visit from the maitre d' Sammy. The location and environment are beautiful, well worth the extra few minutes to get out into the new Almaden Foothills.
Celebrating my husband’s birthday.
Food was excellent. The server/waiter was not very attentive.
From the bread to the exquisite dessert, everything was absolutely wonderful. Lobster ravioli and scallop appetizers we're delectable. My chicken was out of this world and my family gave the ahi and bison superior marks. Not a moreel was left on any of our plates.
The service is excellent and the atmosphere relaxed and elegant.
La Foret provides a sumptuous dining experience.
The food was amazing resulting in a spectacular evening. We ordered the veal carpaccio and escargot for appetizers. We then ordered a salad that we shared, which had anchovies and were delicious. And the lobster raviolis. Although there were two Lobster raviolis, they were very filling. We ended with the lamb chops which we also shared. Everything tasted delicious
We loved everything about La Foret! The service, food and overall ambiance was outstanding. We'll be back.
Outstanding food and service. All staff were pleasant, knowledgeable, patient and helpful. Would return.
Always a lovely, unique dinner in a peaceful setting. Excellent service.
The food and service at La Foret is and always has been extraordinary. They offer a wide range of food choices but our favorite entree has always been the Tournedos of Beef. The meat is tender and the presentation is a sight to behold. But save room for dessert and/or after dinner drinks. Both are simply delightful.
Be aware that this is a very special high end restaurant. Be prepared to pay a premium for the experience but oh what an experience it is!
First visit in response to friends' recommendation for a quiet restaurant with table clothes.
That is haves. Maybe it was an off night but the salads and entrees were off.
Mushroom and escarole salad was extremely disappointing and sent back. French/lettuce salad was over oiled. Ran out of salmon my evening.
My friend's entree and mine were heavily peppered. No green vegetables offered so received grilled zucchini, which also was heavily peppered.
It was a hike through heavy traffic to get to La Foret for a 6:30 seating and I will never do it again.
Quiet, white table clothes and good booze. Nice people. Good service. This restaurant would benefit from a talented chef.
We’ve been going to La Foret since 1987. I don’t know why San Jose continues to be a city unaccustomed to excellent dining experiences, but La Foret helps make up for it. In particular, whoever makes the sauces deserves Nobel prize.
We have gone to La Foret for many years and they are always fantastic. Usually however we go during the week or later in the evening and have no issues and this time was Saturday night during the busiest time. The noise level on this night was a bit high in general and made conversation a difficult. Everything but the noise level was fantastic.
FOOD WAS POOR. WAY OVERPRICED, WON'T BE BACK. NOT LIKE IT USED TO BE
We expected more for the price. The food was solid, but unremarkable. The prices, particularly on the wines, were astronomical. On the electronic winelist, the first one that comes up is $80 for one glass of cab! The service was excellent to start, then our server disappeared after the main course. Took forever for dessert and to get the bill.
very lovely french meal. will definitely return to try the other dishes.
great for high end special occasion dining.
Perfect brunch for a special occasion especially for multiple-generation affairs. We celebrated two birthdays: 60 years and 70 years. The staff treated us to a sampler dessert and long stem roses for all the ladies at the table. The food is beautifully prepared and service is fantastic. A number of times I did not even realize that our just emptied plates had been taken away by the waitress. The venue is gorgeous and quiet enough to promote great conversation. We felt like it was a special day and La Foret made it so.
Little prices but awesome food and wine. My wife loves the cozy and romantic setting.
