La Forchetta Ratings and Reviews
There was an event winding down as we were coming in, and the service reflected it. Even though I booked the table in the app and specified it was our anniversary, there was no special table set for us, not was the anniversary acknowledged. In the other hand, the food was great.
We rent here as it is close by our favourite Airbnb when we stay in Toronto and we didn't feel like driving again to another restaurant further out.
I was immediately put off when I was told on their prefix menu I can only have two courses because I booked on open table Weird?! I've never heard anything like that before. So people that didn't plan ahead that walked in off the street were able to enjoy the prefix with three courses .
There was a hair in my soup so I asked for them to put it into a new bowl. No mention of this and no compensation. I didn't make a big deal of it .
The food was fine for what it was. The Decour is a little bit dated . This isn't a trendy restaurant but more of an old-school Italian restaurant that may have had its heyday in the 80s. We had some trendier meals at Figo and Oretta for the same price. Dinner for four of us with a bottle of wine and desserts came to $400 . I would probably go back in a pinch but it's just not memorable. The food was good.
Appetizers are overpriced and not ideal for sharing.
Main courses and desserts were very good.
Waiter seemed overwhelmed our party of 9 and made the ordering experience slightly awkward.
Request for separate bills was not accommodated.
Good for couples, but not groups larger than 4.
Salads were overdressed. So many fruit flies flying around the restaurant. One landed in my wine. Told the wait who just took my glass away and gave me a fresh glass. No replacement for the wine I couldn't drink. Seafood main course. The tiger shrimp were not tiger shrimp, the mussels were tiny, most of the dish was over cooked. We will not be returning!!
Food was average at best. Service was terrible. Waiter did not seem interested at all. He didn't even want to split our bill at the end of the night among the couples. He never asked how the food was or topped off our wine glasses ... the whole experience left a sour taste in our mouth and very surprised that others recommended this place ... it leaves me to think that all these recommendations are fake news ..
One of my favourite restaurants. I love the food. I've tried the calamari, mussels, beef carpaccio, steamed clams with shrimp and scallops - very good. Risotto, seafood pasta, rosemary roasted pork tenderloin and orecchiette with sausage were all excellent. Very attentive service and friendly.
This was our third time visiting La Forchetta. Each time has been great! The wine list is diverse, the restaurant is intimate, the food and service are great. I had a beautiful citrus and cabbage salad and Salmon with lentils entrée. Others at the table had the Sweet Potato Gnocchi and the Linguine with Scallops, Shrimps and Mussels. Without exception everyone loved their meals. I would be remiss to not mention the bread that accompanies the meal...it is fresh served with oil and rosemary and it is wicked!
Love the restaurant for almost any occasion!
I made a reservation based on the reviews from Open Table. I was looking for a restaurant to celebrate a 95th and 10th birthday, so multi-generational. We were a small group of 5. From the moment we walked in the restaurant felt warm and cozy (literally warm rather than cold and drafty) and the waiters were so welcoming and friendly. The waiters are true professionals. The food was outstanding. For starters we ordered a Cesar salad, the polenta and mushrooms (their recommendation) and grilled calamari. Then we ordered seafood linguini (their recommendation), rigatoni bolognes, parpadelle with duck, spaghetti with Alfredo sauce (off the menu made for the kids) and smoked duck risotto. We ended with Americanos, tiramisu and crème brûlée. We ordered wine. The list was really good. Lots of decent options by the glass and half litres. The waiters put candles in the deserts so we could sing Happy Birthday. I was a little disappointed they ran out of chocolate cake though, but the other options were great. I really appreciated the respect between our kids and the wait staff. They treated our kids like little adults and I really felt that they genuinely wanted to make us happy which they did. I will be dreaming about the parpadelle with duck and the crème brûlé and can't wait to return.
We had a very enjoyable dinner at La Forchetta. The four of us ordered appetizers, a main course of either pasta or risotto and dessert, which we all thought was excellent. The service was very good and attentive. Because there were no other customers eating while we were there we found the ambience lacking. However, we will most certainly return for another meal.
Excellent is the only word that can describe my experience I went with a small group of friends to celebrate a special birthday. I was not disappointed. The service was respectful and not intrusive. The food was prepared with care and pride. The energy was positive. I will be returning to La Forchetta .
I left feeling cheesed off after dinner! The food is amazing but the service is slow and inattentive. Despite having four waiters in this small restaurant, menus came 10 minutes after we arrived, we had to flag down our waiter twice for bread, and it was just difficult to catch anyone's attention when we needed something. Beef up your service and I'd rate this place a 5 out of 5.
A bit overpriced for the quality of food. My husband had the duck with papardelle which was good but his mussels were just ok. I had the calamari that several people said was good but I found it to be rubbery. My seafood pasta was just ok. Service was excellent though
We were looking to carbo-load before a cycling event and were not disappointed. Salads were terrific and grilled calamari superb. The pasta dishes were perfectly al dente and flavourful. Portion sizes were above-average. The servers were all friendly and attentive but not overly so. There are a few tables out front so it was nice to eat al fresco. There is a sense of pride at this place so it comes through that they really want you to have an enjoyable and relaxing meal.
We ordered wine and appetizers and our mains altogether. After our appetizer was taken away, we waited for our mains. After 25 minutes, the bill was given to us but we hadn't even received our mains. They forgot to put in the order and do we had to wait another 20 min. The food was good but we couldn't enjoy it since we had a function to get to. We are our meals in 5 minutes. I wouldn't go back. No compensation was offered either.
