    Entered restaurant around 5:45 & were the only customers.. (during our hour and a half visit two other tables we're seated) the hostess / waitress offered to seat us at the first table by the door so we asked if we could move back a bit. She said she wanted to keep everyone ( mind you everyone being just me and my husband at the time) on the same side of the room. She did let us choose another table. We were looking forward to a slow paced evening but either the waitress was bored or wanted us to hurry because she kept asking us if we were ready to order. We told her several times that we were in no rush yet she kept coming back. I ordered a glass of wine and my husband a cocktail. Was surprised bread was not complimentary it was available upon request for $3. Our appetizer was very good actually the best part of the meal. I ordered the lobster ravioli and didn't really enjoy it. My husband had a veal dish and said it was okay. The prices were reasonable but the food was lacking. The waitress was very nice but made us feel rushed up until we received our dinner. Overall I was disappointed especially with the food. We probably won't be back as we were expecting delicious authentic Italian food.

    Loved the food! It was great!! Service was also great. Love the Raspberry vinegarett on the salad. Spegetti was great. Bread was awesome. Loved everything except the price. Little pricey for what we had. Overall,great food and service!!

    Easily the worst experience ever. It’s a candidate for Gordon Ramsey Hell’s Kitchen. My fettucini was made with spoiled milk. I couldn’t eat it. Chicken was obviously frozen old chicken. Calamari frozen. Dude it was the worst to the point that it was very upsetting. The lady was the rudest lady as well. I bet all their food in the kitchen was old and frozen. I thought I was going to get sick later from taking one bite. It was made old milk/cream. They should be shut down.

    I will never be able to eat store bought spaghetti again! The food was delicious. The dessert was a little overpriced, but was delicious as well. We will be back.

    Our servers we awesome! They offered great suggestions of wine and food and were engaging. The food was delicious. I truly enjoyed the Mediterranean salad. Thank you for the experience!

    This is truly an authentic Italian restaurant. The food was incredible, the service was fantastic, this is a hidden gem. If you are looking for great Italian food in Charleston this is the place! Can’t wait to go back!

    This was by far the worst place I've been in Charleston. The place smells, bad. The bathrooms don't have air-conditioning and smell like portajohns and have dirt and cobwebs everywhere. The Parm on the table had turned. We ordered, bread, meatball app, and 2 sodas. The dipping oil for the bread was the cheap oil that you use for cooking. The meatball was mushy, freezer burned and microwaved. It was basically in canned sauce with nothing added. It came out faster than a sub at jimmy johns despite us being the only people in the restaurant. The sodas were canned, and hot. They came with a glass of ice. We actually stopped our meal then and there, our bill was 29 bucks. This place is horrible. Please never go there.

    We were vacationing in South Carolina from Illinois. There were no cars in the parking lot when we got there, that should have been a tip-off. It was advertised as fine Italian dining, but was obviously a former fast food restaurant with the building layout. Greeted and served by the only woman in the restaurant other than kitchen staff. Not the warmest personality. Food had little to know seasoning and was by far the most expensive restaurant our family dined at in eight days. They even charged an extra $3 for a very small loaf of bread. Would not recommend to anyone.

    Food here was very good and was large portions. Prices are high, but it is in the vicinity of Charleston. Beer tasted old and was not drinkable. Service was good, but our biggest issue was the way the bill was handled. The bill was delivered to us at a pre-tip price with sales tax added. However, when we received the final copy that had been processed with our credit card, there was an automatic 20% added. We were a party of 6, but that should have been disclosed prior to credit card processing. Also, they included the tax in the tip total. Totally unacceptable and we all felt tricked.

    I was sadly disappointed in the quality of the food. I had the veal Marsala and the food was tasteless and my companion had chicken Parmesan which was also nondescript. The food was overpriced for what we received. I would not recommend it.

    This location should update the online information. I was totally disappointed by the menu. The photos are from years ago. The lasagna was terrible. I can't think of anything positive to say about the experience.

    Have thoroughly enjoyed La Fontana in the past but will not go back. I don’t mind paying more for great food, but this was not close. Portion was beyond small, and no cheese on the chicken parm, now have to pay for a small basket of cold bread and a plastic solo cup of oil and herbs. Just so disappointed. All of our dinners were less than a lunch portion in size. Just not worth the money.

    The chicken parm was good. However the veal parm was chewy and just did not taste good. The waitress was nice and proficient. This is disappointing bc we have always enjoyed eating here. It may be awhile before we try it again. Right now I could not recommend it to someone.

    You won’t be disappointed when looking for authentic Italian food. Fabriano (she) was both accommodating, attentive to our requests as well as very accommodating to personal request. We were given a recommendation. While on a tour at Magnolia Plantation by Lyndsey our tour guide. The food was true Italian dishes as my brother in law is Italian and gave high ratings on our dishes.

    Food quality has gone downhill. We have been going here for years but since COVID there has been a sadly negative trend. Decor is super tired; servers seem put out with basic requests and flavor has simply left the building. After our last experience we won't be returning even though it is one of the few local Italian joints near us.

    The service was provided by one staff member who had to cover the whole dining room. She did her best and my only complaint was that they did not have others on duty. The food was inedible. My spouse had fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The chicken was obviously pre- cooked and stringy while the sauce had no flavor. Unfortunately for us, we got the last of the chicken as they ran out after our order. My pasta carbonara with “prosciutto “ was just a bowl of salt. Italian food is easy to make and this establishment messed up two very simple dishes!!!! Avoid this place at all costs.

    Restuarant is tired, the food lacked brightness, sauces were too heavy, not espresso in an Italian restaurant, quality of prosecco was poor, it seemed like an inexpensive brand was chosen. We were told coffee would be a minute while it brewed but when it came it was almost lukewarm and server told us it was fresh, prepared 3 hours ago.

    Had driven by La Fontana many times and decided to finally try it out. We arrived on a Sat evening for our 7 pm reservation and were seated fairly quickly. The dining room was almost full with a couple of tables just leaving. Everyone else was sitting and looked to be waiting to be served. There was one waitress clearing tables and a hostess that was also waiting on tables. We noticed that they had full bar but no one was bartending. After about 10 minutes we got the hostess to come over. She told us that they were short handed so we would have to wait for her to be able to serve us. We asked if we could get a drink and she told us that their bartender had not showed up that night so no mixed drinks just wine and beer. We ordered a bottle of wine and got that pretty quickly. About 15 minutes later we were able order food. Other tables around us were still waiting to order even though they had come in before us. As we waited for the food to be served we started hearing shouting coming from the kitchen. It appeared that the hostess and the chef (probably also the owner) were arguing over the slow delivery of food . Our food was finally served and it was ok, not anything to rave about. The best thing was the marinara sauce served with the fried calamari appetizer. Veal scallopine and chicken parmesan were average. When we finished and were leaving the table next to us that had been there before us was just getting their food. Not a great night for La Fontana.

    Small family style Italian restaurant. The owners directly served guests. Food was very good and generous portions, reasonably priced. Service was a little slow but the friendliness of the owner was really nice.
