First time back post COVID - overall food continues to be good and the venue is cool. BUT they have increased there prices to $100 per person total for food, the service was very slow and spotty, and it was very hot in our dining room. For this kind of money, I probably will not be going back. Bummers as I had lots of good times in the past.
Been here many times; always love it!
It’s expensive but it’s for a special occasion.
The chocolate fondue is the best!
Great anniversary dinner at La Fondue! The service charge was a bit high, but a great meal and experience overall!
Great service and the waitresses were very friendly and attentive. Food was very good but the meat was a little expensive.
Portion size size small for price table if 5 spent 674.00
Always fun to celebrate special occasions at La Fondue. Took my kids for the first time. They enjoyed cooking their own food.
Service was great. A little loud. Food is excellent
Great for celebrations! Super fun and yummy meal!
The waitresses that we had were very friendly and made the whole experience so much fun. The food tasted very good. Our adults and kids all had a great time at La Fondue.
Had a great time. Excellent service and fun team. From valet to hostess, wait staff, service leads. Great team, location, service, and food.
We eagerly anticipated the reopening of La Fondue but you can tell they've been closed for awhile. We had two servers working our table but they didn't seem to be working together. One would come by and then the other would come right after and ask the same exact question. We had three people at our table and the sauce trays really should have been three sets to not have to share it or double dip with people you're not related to, especially since covid is still a concern, albeit, waning... Still, hygiene... I could have asked for another set of sauce but in a high end, expensive place, should I really have to? The hot plate for the meat never seemed to get hot enough, no sizzle, and the chocolate took a long time to melt and never seemed to thin before burning. We'll be back because we love Fondue but fingers are crossed the service gets more high end to match the prices.
Our first time dining since quarantine hit. We had a wonderful experience! Highly recommended!
The Best Fondue!
We love going to this restaurant, the food, the service, the atmosphere, everything is great!
Such a great experience, customer service was above and beyond. The food was delicious and ambiance was nice.
We were glad to see the restaurant re-opened. It now has a prix fix menu only that simplifies things. Despite that, our waitress, Chloe, was inquisitive about particular requirements or requests, which she enthusiastically accommodated. She clearly enjoyed interacting with the guests and sharing the whole fondue experience. Chloe helped to make the evening a great one!
Fun experience and lots of food!
Always a great time. Can't wait until the 4 cheese fondue is available, definitely going back for that.
I have been to La Fondue more times than I can count. They have consistently had excellent food. Under current conditions, I understand they had to modify their menu. They have substantially raised their prices from what I remember. All this I totally understand. However, I was very disheartened to learn that they charged me over $50 for a service fee that is supposed to “ be distributed” amongst all the staff. So if I wanted to tip my server, I had to tip on top of that. I felt deceived because this was never disclosed when I made the reservation nor when we got to the restaurant. It just showed up on my bill. They are free to charge what they want to charge, but with increased prices and a service fee and the expectation to tip on top of that, a meal for myself and two children was almost $400! (Including one glass of wine as the only alcohol purchased). We went there specifically because my daughter requested it as her birthday dinner and we live three hours away. As much as I love this restaurant, I am going to think twice before I return if this is how they continue to do business.
It’s just average at the best
With the full realization that you are coming here for the experience of it, it is a very fun place to go and have a nice date night at. However, be aware on the menu on very fine print there is a 20 percent 'service fee' that is automatically added to the bill. Mandatory tipping I guess. I don't appreciate that little item on the receipt and wondering where it came from and having to have it explained. I'll tip more or less depending on how the night went. Wish places like this would stop doing those kinds of things. Kind of puts a downer on the night right at the end.
Our family goes here on special occasions. It’s unique dining experience that we always enjoy. Highly recommend for anniversary or birthdays.
They have changed their price structure and added service fees. It costs significantly more for smaller portions. Had I known this in advance, I would’ve booked elsewhere. It’s officially a special occasion restaurant in my book, solely.
Everything was good and accommodating to my shellfish allergy ,which I'm grateful for. The unfortunate part was when we didnt get our salads. My boyfriend didnt want to complain because he didnt want to make a scene.
Good experience. Just wouldn't recommend sitting in the room that used to be the waiting room. But other then that overall it was fun and the service was excellent. I do understand why they have seating their because of covid, just not my personal preference.
Went here for an early mothers day dinner in the middle of the week. Not very busy. Was seated right away and service started ok. As we were given the menus, they told us of the new pricing where it is required that everybody do a four course meal and charge is $75 per person. We had two children with us which seemed a bit steep for the two kids and they did allow us for one order for the two of them at $75. For those of you have kids we all know they cannot eat $75 worth of food let alone $35each worth of food. But it being mother's Day and a special occasion we decided to stay and enjoy dinner. When ordering drinks, the waitress brought champagne instead of the wine ordered. at the end of the meal I was charged for both even when the waitress returned the incorrect one
The portions for the meat are definitely lacking and very small. Also because of covid the chocolate selections are at a bare minimum and very boring now considering what they used to be.
We will not be going back for a long time until things hopefully recover from covid. Oh and by the way they also charge a 20% surcharge regardless of party size and you're expected to tip on top of that. Such a rip off.
Service was great! Very friendly and attentive. The salad is always outstanding, as was the cheese fondue! Entree was good - you cook it yourself, so really our fault if we didn't like it. lol Disappointed that there is not a choice to get the "Decadent" chocolate, but the dark and milk chocolates were still good. Only other little disappointments were that the Rice Krispie bites tasted a little stale and the cream cheese balls and pound cake bites were really cold, like they had not been fully defrosted. I had the blood orange drink - very good!
Had an 8pm reservation and didn't get seated until 8:30 pm. A tip was automatically added to the tab. Overall not very impressed with how the night went for my daughter.
This place used to be one of our favorite restaurants. We hadn't gone since the start of the pandemic so now that we are fully vaccinated, we decided to go and give them some business. That was a mistake.
We had a reservation for 7 but had to wait until 7:45 for a table. The restaurant is at reduced capacity due to Covid, which I understand; however if we had to wait for 45 minutes WITH a reservation then it means the owner of this restaurant is just trying to stuff in as many people as he can, without regard for staffing, etc.
There were signs that the place is in financial trouble. We ordered the most expensive option: Surf and Turf. One of the best parts of the experience is the dipping sauces they gave you. When we were served our dinner we were told the restaurant had run out of our favorite sauce (mango chutney). The restaurant supposedly makes this chutney themselves.... so how are you out of it by 9 on a Saturday night? Also, I noticed when the chocolate course arrived that they don't give you as much chocolate as they used to. I am not sure if this is to get you out of there faster or to save money.
Then, the final insult: when we were given the bill there was an AUTOMATIC 20% SERVICE CHARGE on our bill. We were a party of 2. I had planned on tipping 20% but I resent having the choice taken away from me. A tip is not supposed to be automatic. A tip is supposed to be a reflection of service given.
I am pretty sad. I've had many birthdays there, anniversary dinners, and I even held a family dinner there when I got my Master's degree. Many diners are still anxious about eating out. La Fondue should have been doing everything they could to give us a good experience. I doubt we'll ever go back but on thing is certain: don't go yet! Wait 6 months or so and see if they get their act together. Otherwise, you will be waiting a long time, even with a reservation.
I was surprised to see that there are many new restaurants that have popped up on the same street (B
Seated 30 minutes after reservation time, only after approaching hostess to check on table. Server was rude and we felt rushed. Very little explanation of menu and options. Wine was opened, tasting poured, but server rushed off before we approved it and never poured glasses. We won't be rushing back here anytime soon.
We’d been as a family once before and had an amazing time. Tonight was like going to any other chain restaurant that happened to serve fondue. What a disappointment! I seriously doubt we’ll be back.
A dinner for 4 people + a couple glasses of wine is about $500. That's too much. It used to be a little over $300 and that was awfully high. We have gone to La Fondue for birthdays and Xmas eve for many years. Probably not any more.
Fun fancy dinner for the family. Will definitely come here again.
I hadn’t been here in 10 years but remained excited. The salads were surprisingly good but looked like a salad you might buy at a diner. The first course was cheese fondue with a selection of foods that probably cost the restaurant $2 to put together. Stale bread, cherry tomatoes, mini pickles, a couple of tiny potatoes broccoli and a pretzel. Third course...the kids LOVED this cause they got to cook. Two very small lobster tails and a few shrimps and prawns but the beef was a ridiculous small portions. The slice a piece was no more than 1.5 inches long. Imagine that sliced into 5 pieces. You are instructed to cook it for 45 seconds. That’s how thin it was! The chocolate course was cool. Fruit and 3 marshmallows and 2 half inch pieces of a mini snickers bar...They charge $75 per. Our bill was $300. Then they added a 20% service fee. What? Yes. $60 fee. That increased the bill to $400 and they still had a tip option on the check. The kids couldn’t stop raving about the place. But they didn’t pay $400 plus to cook your own meal of marshmallows, bread and shrimp. See you in 15 yrs.
Tiny baby steak for two people literally 1/4 lb. 33$ service charge, for what to put vegetables on a plate?
Be ready to pay 30 percent tip included even for party of 2! I wish this had been disclosed or that I can choose tip value as we had multiple mistakes but nevertheless I will come back with my hubby and more friends in the future. Jesus bless this business!
It’s a 4 course set meal at $75 per person. A little pricey for a mom and 8 year old, but we have been waiting so long for it to open back up. We usually just come for cheese and chocolate , to die for. We don’t eat the meat.
Not all cheese fondue was available but I think I found out new favorite. Bacon!!!! Sooooo good!!! We had a great day and are happy to have one of our favorite places to eat back!!!!!!!!❤️
The service was terrible. A mandatory 20% service charge was added on for us and being we had 11 people we paid almost a 200$ service charge for terrible terrible service. The lights were so dark we couldn’t see what we were cooking or if the items were even cooked.
They have re-opened and seem to be trying to make up for lost time relative to prices (yikes!). Basically, you're paying for the fact they can't have full capacity on tables. We've eaten there regularly for many many years. What used to be about $50 per person is now $75 per person, but with far fewer options.
Quality was not there. Service was pretty bad. Our server was nice... but it took about 3 hours to get through a meal and we had to repeatedly ask for simple things like drinks. It took ordering a coke about 4 times to finally get one. They don't write anything down, but don't remember what you asked for either. Not entirely his fault. Multiple people came to the table, including what appeared to be a manager. The meat tray came with an item missing. When we asked about it, we were told it was there - yet it clearly wasn't and the person who brought the tray to the table TOLD us it wasn't.
Tip: if you're going to go, ask for individual portions of meats. They do NOT want to do it this way, but they will. Trust me - it's a better move. Everyone gets what they want and gets the right amount of it. It's far easier for them to shrink portions when they're all combined on one tray.
They have a mandatory tip now - they call it a "service fee." It is added BEFORE tax.
Would I go again? No. Not worth it anymore.
We are old customers of La Fondue at Los Gatos. We have not been there for more than 18 months and noticed some changes which may be due to covid.
Menu has been simplified. not that many options as before but still good.
We feel that we got less cheese on the Cheese Fondue as in other occasions.
The waitress was average, we got a table outside and she was not coming back to check if we needed something as frequent as she should. We had to call other people more than three times because she was not around to help us with our food. The food heaters were not warming up the food as it should have been and it was because she was not setting up the warmers as it should have been.
At the end we were assigned a tip of 20% for only the two of us. Which it was "optional" but it came already assigned in our check. It was going to take longer to ask her to change it that just leaving it that way.
Overall it was a good experience but better waitress and warmer food would have been help. My wife was cold most of the time, so seating outside was not the best seating,
