Service not good and the price was to high for the food
Un restaurant vieux et désuet, un gros ménage est requis, aucune ambiance, fondue au fromage liquide sans saveur.
Service was terrible. No flavour to the broth. The quantity of what you get for the price was good, however very poor experience. Drove from Ottawa , stayed over night based on the reviews... not a good choice. Service was slow. Waitress was very touchy with the men, hands on shoulders, chest and holding hands. Not professional at all. No excuse me while reaching in front of us. No explainstion of how the menu worked, left us to figure it out on two occasions when we finally go through to her that we didn't know what we were doing. Tables turned quickly around us, we were there for 4 hours based on the waitress just not paying attention to us . We always had to call her over. Poor service.
Very enjoyable, our second visit. Fondues great, the variety of meat available is always interesting. Will go again.
The server that we had was an older woman, curly dark short hair and she was absolutely the rudest person I have ever met. My 7 friends and myself went to have dinner and she yelled at us for not spending enough money on food!! She said she turns people away at the door and lets in big groups so they will spend more money...and blamed us for not ordering the more expensive items on the menu. Absolutely disgusting behavior. If you go to this restaurant DO NOT stay if you get a female waitress.
Cheese fondue and meat's were good but desert was very disapointing i expected to have fruits that are in season strawberries peaches not a dish full of banana with chocolate fondue.
Keep going! It was not our first visit. Same good foods and good service.
This place has been around for a ling time, fantastic mom and pop shop. No frills. Like a lot of mom and pops, service is a bit slow, but the authenticity is there and is palpable. They enjoy what they do. Excellent fondue in a refreshingly down-to-earth atmosphere.
Very good service. We passed a very good moment. It was the birthday of my friend. Keep going !
service des plus courtoie et chaleureux
ambience calme et repausante
plat proposer dune grande finesse
One of my top favorite restaurant. Love love it. Love tge fokd..ambiance and services
Great place for a fondue and relaxed atmosphere.
Food was good and service very friendly. A bit expensive for something easy to make at home in my opinion. No vegetables with the fondue.
The food was in no way special, very ordinary, even if it was said to be "homemade", there was no vegetables with the meat and only a few fruits for the chocolate fondue. The restaurant itself looks old and feels like a boring countryside small restaurant... Don't go there for a nice romantic evening! The waitress charged us extras for many things without telling us. Overall, let's say it would have been better to eat a fondue at our home and we will not go back there.
My fav restaurant
We go often. Love the food and ambiance
It was a very busy Sunday evening. There was only 1 server, she was very nice but she could have used more help...
We arrived for our reservation quite late as we were having a hard time finding parking. The Opentable site states that this restaurant has valet parking. I called and they said that they do not and told us to park in the local park along Caxilla Lavallee Avenue where there is plenty of parking.
We were traveling with my 7 mos old grandson who decided that he was not happy with being at the restaurant. After being seated, we asked to be moved to the empty dining room so that my daughter would not be so stressed as to not enjoy our meal. The staff was extremely accommodating! We were afraid that service might be slow since we were the only people in this room and realized it would be easy to forget us. We were not and the service was remarkably prompt and friendly.
I ordered the sampler plate that had shrimp, salmon, chicken and beef to be cooked in a simmering broth fondue pot set on the table. My daughter had the cheese fondue and both men ordered the wild game fondue. We all agreed that the food was very good and plentiful. Very tasty and interesting selections.
What a nice little gem! Great service, good food and big portions ! The extras make all the difference!
Our waitress was very kind and helpful, she gave us useful advices about good locals in the neighborhood
If you are in the mood for a good fondue, this is the place. Let's start with the staff - warm and friendly; attentive but not overly so. Nice wines - not too expensive and very good.
I have been to the restaurant 2 times -- both times the salad and the onion soup were very good. Very fresh salad and the onion soup is very tasty and not overly salted. We shared the Swiss fondue both times -- wonderful!! And just the right amount. We ended dinner both times with the chocolate fondue with strawberries -- Winner!!
Overall -- nice, simple, good and fun -- perfect Friday place!
Respectable place for everything fondue (cheese, meat or seafood). Prices and food are decent, without being special. We would recommend this place if you're looking to eat fondue with no frills and not looking for anything spectacular.
Excellente nourriture réconfortante, dans une ambiance chaleureuse et agréable.
After reading some negative reviews about the service here I wasn't expecting much. But it turned out that the service was quite good, as was the food. Good value too.
Authentic fondue, well priced, great for kids. Very 70s decor.
The service was outstanding, I am a fan of fondu au fromage and their fondu was one of the best I ever tasted. The atmosphere was just perfect, quiete and relax.
We were visiting from the USA, and looking for a fondue restaurant. This was exactly what we wanted. Great people on staff, great ambiance, and great food. We ordered the feast, which was a nice mix of fondue and salad for a complete meal. Reasonable pricing. They helped us to get a taxi back to our hotel. Thanks for a great dining experience.
Me and my husband came in, nobody was there we waited 5mins for someone to show up . We took a table then 2 of the waitess friend i guess came in and then she started talking with them for a long 15min which she didnt took our order yet... Had to call her so she stop talking. The garlic bread was basicaly burn. The choice of dressing is nasty. I would never go back there the waitress was a wayyy to rude and only give good servicw to the people she kno i guess !
Waiter was very rude - explain us that we HAVE to give a mandatory tips. I give a tips when I am satisfy of everything ! Customer is king not the waiter ... especially when we pay 26$ for 4 slices of raclettes and 1 potatoe without any "charcuterie" like every fondue restaurant...
Excellente nourriture réconfortante dans une décor chaleureux.
the food,t the service, the portions, everything was great, even the music, the ladies who were serving us were a delight and made the whole experience more delightful
We were new to fondue, but our waitress guided us through the menu and made good suggestions. The meat dishes came with an array of different dipping sauces which made the meal tasty, yet fun. The chocolate fondue with fruit was particularly delicious!
Food was great and price reasonable but place way too small for all the tables set. Get very noisy when full and everybody seating tooo close
Everything at La Fonderie was good.. but open table didnt work so i had no reservation.. so 5 stars for the restaurant and a big 0 star for open table site!.. make sure to call and talk to someone in case its all reserved
At first glance I was concerned that this restaurant would be a disappointment given the rundown neighborhood. However once we entered, we were surrounded by a warmth, both in the choice of colors & the service. We had swiss fondu w/ traditional cheeses & chinese one. Both were delicious and the portions were ample. Later I realized there was a second dining room that was more updated but I preferred our room since it was cozier. When I left, I looked at the street w/ fresh eyes & realized that all of the blocks around La Fonderie had been renovated which was why I was so comfortable walking to the restaurant. That's good since after trying at least 4 other fondue restaurants, we had finally found one that we would happily return to.
Fondue was fun and it is a good group setting. Waiters were overwhelmed the night we where there so service was spotty.
Perfect for a cold winter night. We went for Valentine's dinner so it was a set menu. Tasty cheese fondue, good selection of meats, and good chocolate fondue.
The resto could use a makeover as there's not much ambiance.
Waitress was very friendly and attentive.
Nice touch was a long stemmed rose on every table.
Presentation of food could use some work but overall the food tasted very good.
