Wonderful food! We ended up with 6 people for an after-work meal and everyone was thrilled with what they ordered. My cod was cooked perfectly, as were my friends' pork, shrimp, and crabcakes. And the mango tres leches cake is to die for. Service was very good and attentive -- and got our orders right. It was a bit pricey, but the food was definitely worth it.

We had a great time at La Fonda del Sol. The waiter was attentive and the service was excellent. They were out of a couple of things on the menu but we all enjoyed our selection. Will definitely be back!

Great Spanish food, convenient location, great service. Fonda del Sol has both vibrant bar scene and quiet dining room upstairs and behind the bar. Paella and Sangria were great to share.

Our dinner consisted of tapas type selection. Each dish (ceviche, crab cakes, morcilla, octopus) was nicely prepared and delightful. I had a glass of tempranillo, which was excellent. Overall, I recommend the restaurant.

Service, food and seating, all nice for a business lunch. Noise level was o.k., we did not have to shout over the crowd. The wine selection was very good, too the wine steward was knowledgeable.

I went there for the first time during Restaurant Week. I was very impressed. I took my other friends there this time. We also had the prie fixe. It wasn't as good as the first time. I was surprised. Overall, we were happy though. It just wasn't excellent.

please stop bothering customers to write 50 characters...it is easier to avoid writing...but the restaurant deserves the stars...

Convenient location. Decent food overall though individually was quite mixed. Fluke Ceviche was flavorful but the meatballs were bland. Pork belly tacos & short rib tacos were quite a bit fattier than expected. Server was very friendly but seemingly very frazzled. Additionally, they delivered the wrong tapas to our table. Overall, convenience (proximity to GCT) offset the other concerns.

This is a delightful find near Grand Central Station. The hostess assumed we wanted to dine in the tapas room (aggressive noise with the bar area) rather in the dining area upstairs which was more sedate. We chose upstairs. The Valentine's Day menu, was well thought out. The shrimp cerviche appetizer & the short rib and pepper appetizer were tasty and were a decent size. Both the grilled steak and the scallop entrees were very flavorful; the steak was a healthy portion; the scallops totaled six. The tres leche was so flavorful that it didn't need any help from the mango puree (which was a nice touch). The banana bread pudding with chocolate was a nice sized portion but was perhaps the least exciting part of our meal. The service was excellent!

I had a horrible time at this restaurant. My girlfriend is a pescaterian so we ordered the seafood paello which listed the ingredients as shrimp , clams and many other seafoods. However, while we started to eat , we discovered it was chicken, pork and sausage in the meal. The waitress tried to explain to me that all of there Paellos have meat in it but I was not trying to hear it because chicken and pork is something you are supposed to listen as ingredients on the menu.

We selected the restaurant for the location within the Met Life building.
Took Metro North into the city to meet friends for dinner.
Had to walk outside 8 steps.
A great surprise for we found a new favorite restaurant.
Food was superb, Friday nightl wine special was a spectacular value.
Service gets high marks.
This place is a great, great find.

My 2 friends and I went for Restaurant Week to check out the place. The restaurant
week menu was limited, but a good selection. Service was friendly and fast, and we will go back for another occasion. Place was a little bit on the noisy side.

Went there for dinner during restaurant week, the starter & main course was excellent, however, the dessert choices were not good. I ordered a cheesecake and did not care for it.
I must say that the staff provided excellent service otherwise!

WE ENJOYED OUR MEAL ALTHOUGH WASN'T ASKED HOW THE DUCK SHOULD BE COOKED.
IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ROASTED, IT WAS PINK , TOO UNDER COOKED FOR OUR TASTE.
THE BRAISED SHORT RIBS MELTED IN OUR MOUTHS. DRINKS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE , WORTH MORE THAN OUR ENTREES. ONLY HAD 2 DRINKS A PIECE $72 IS A BIT TOO MUCH FOR A MARTINI..

Eat here often for tapas. Kitchen was slow sending out the food and then the chicken wasn't thoroughly cooked and the rice was cold and the beans salty. Disappointing at restaurant week because usually excellent tapas.

Maybe I have a high expectation for tapas but these reviews were off. The selection of tapas was extensive but the quality of food was poor and even tasteless at times. The ambience felt like a hotel restaurant but the food was nothing to brag about. Disappointed overall.

I made a reservation for the dining room, then asked to be seated in the lively tapas lounge instead. We got there early and there was still a table there. I had the biggest Gin and Tonic ever, with a grapefruit garnish - it was delicious! The server helped us decide what dishes and how much to get, because we liked everything. We had plenty of time to linger and chat, we never felt rushed. It got crowded, sometimes our server was a little slower than we hoped.

We chose La Fonda del Sol as a restaurant week choice. The menu was outstanding, including choices of four appetizers, four entrees, and three desserts. I had red chile duck enchiladas, duck breast, and banana bread pudding.Other members of my party had short ribs, fish stew, molten chocolate cake. The quality, preparation, presentation, and taste of the food was terrific. The service was wonderful. The staff was very personable and attentive. They provided excellent service, including several refills of great rolls. The restaurant is a gem!

I had the prix fixe which was a very good value. The clams were sensational, whatever they put into the sauce, I cleaned my plate. The swordfish was also very good. Although I did not have much room for dessert, the 3 of us shared the banana bread pudding which was absolutely delicious. We did not try the cocktails although there is an interesting selection. We had wine and sangria. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Highly recommend trying the place.
