Stopped in for a quick lunch with a client. i had the octopus starter and cod for my main - both were cooked to perfection. highly recommend
My 2 friends and I went for the tapas and we ordered almost every one- the menu is small but everything we had was delicious. The lamb coca and the tuna tacos were my favorite. The guacamole was too citrusy and the blistered shishito peppers were kind of plain and there were a lot of them. We had the chardonnay, both white and red sangrias, and a margarita- all of which were very tasty. We went on a Thursday night and had a 730 reservation but there was actually plenty of room in the dining area and the bar. The wait staff were all really nice and the service was perfect.
The ambiance was fabulous, great service and the food is delicious. I first came with a client for the small plates after work. This time I brought my team for dinner. The dinner menu is geared to the foodie who can decode what exactly the dish is. The prices are extreme for what you are actually served. While delicious it is way overpriced. Still a great spot for dining in New York.
It was incredibly loud and the food was incredibly average. Not what I expected, but perhaps what I should have given It’s proximity to Grand Central. I won’t be going back.
Me and buddy met here for dinner since convenient location before catching train out of GCT. We split Paella which was delicious and filling along with couple beers made for good meal and conversation. Id come back again.
Excellent experience! all around. Terrific authentic food and service - I would highly recommend this restaurant!
We grew and grew.
When I first made the reservations we were 4, than 6 then 11. The restaurant was very accommodating. The waitstaff was a bit strange. They would put dishes on the table for all to share but NO serving spoons, forks etc. truly bizarre. The waiter wanted to remove the menus before anyone else arrived. We had only ordered appetizers at that point. He also guided me on popular sides and appetizers but brought out way too many. Our food was delicious but we had a lot of leftovers.
"Bar menu" is more appropriate for a business lunch. The "restaurant menu" is a bit fancier with less options.
Comfortable and fair priced, with an interesting menu.
We had a levels meal prior to attending a broadway show. The lower level serves tapas and is extremely noisy, so we asked for a table on the upper level. It was very quiet which was a delightful change for dinner conversation. We ordered paella for 2, one of the best we’be ever had. Prompt service. Couldn’t ask for more.
I love this place. Always great service and great food. Not too quiet or too loud.
This review was for the lunch in the formal "upstairs" dining area on 10/23. It was as evaluated. I have also eaten at the less formal "downstairs" area, and the service is like night and day. Today (10/26), I ate downstairs and it took over 25 minutes for our order to be taken. Appetizers came relatively quickly, but we had to remind the waiter about the drink order. Service downstairs can fairly be described as slow and inattentive, though the wait staff is pleasant and professional enough in interactions. Understaffed?
There are 2 dining areas, one casual and the other which we were not at, more dressed up. So it has 2 characters...but with great Spanish food. From Spain. All I can say is that we had a good time, and the staff were helpful and friendly.
I chose the prix fixed lunch. The soup was watery and tasteless, the chicken was good but the included vegetables were skimpy and overcooked. The only decent part of meal was dessert. There was no dish offered that related to the restaurant’s heritage (Tex nex). Basically very disappointing and I will never go back.
Good, reliable restaurant convenient to Grand Central Station. Top pick for a business lunch. Always good service. Never disappoints. Great front desk greet hosts and good wait staff.
Went for birthday celebration and we were expecting loud patrons but that wasn't the case. 4 of us sat at a large comfortable booth. Wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The wine we ordered was not available so requested that the substitute wine be priced the same. Waiter didn't think that could happen and I don't think he tried. One guest was surprised that there were so many non-Spanish items on the menu. He decided to order only tapas. All food was quite good. We stayed much longer than planned because of the pleasant surroundings and delightful ambiance.
the place is great servers are very good .they never offered bread and delivery of food was very slow
We ordered a bunch of tapas which were simply amazing! Every single one was so different and so flavourful. We couldn’t decide on wine or gin so our server brought us some tasters. The server was just wonderful! Thank you for a great night out.
Been to La Fonda many times. The dining room is perfect for a business lunch or dinner. Food was great. Unfortunately, this time. The service was personable but very slow. Believe there was only one waiter for the entire dining room. Just not fair to the server. You can address this easily,
Great Spanish food, highly attentive service - would recommend.
We had dinner at this restaurant and it was way overpriced for the food and quality. The octopus appetizer came with a tiny single small piece of octopus and a few potatoes for $18. This is unreasonable. My husband wanted the paella but it can only be ordered for 2 so $68 later we had a shallow pan with mostly rice and only few pieces of fried calamari, a few almost invisible other slices of grilled calamari in the rice, and a few mussels sprinkled around the outside. The most visible part of the dish were the large peppers and onions in the skillet. I would not recommend this restaurant and thought it was extremely overpriced for the food.
Paella was marginal
Empanadas were tasteless. Salmon was unseasoned. Will return.
I've been here several times for dinner through the years, but only recently tried for lunch. I really like it as a convenient midtown lunch spot, too, that's good for lunch meetings with a couple of other people.
Always a wonderful place to have a good business meal.
The service was non existent. Too bad because the food was good . It was the 2nd time in my life I didn’t leave a tip.
The service and the food was great! Everyone was lovely and the pricing was great! Thank you for the great service!
great location, fantastic staff.....the food was amazing!
Food is delicious, service is a bit spotty. Like for business lunches and it's fairly private.
Had a great time, impeccable service. Highly recommend it.
Service was great but food was too salty.
Pricey but delicious
I had salmon and the spices were incredible. My friend had pork chops and said it was the best he ever had!
The service was very good and prompt. The food was delicious. It was a very nice experience.
Great service and amazing drinks!
Around Grand Central this is one of the best restaurants with great food and excellent location!
The rib eye for two was off the chart. Service was fantastic.
Wonderful menu in the Tapas Lounge, delicious choices so you can order a variety of tastes.
Perfect from start to finish
Food was great but don’t go if service is high on your list.
always great food and service
