Delicious, carefully curated food was enjoyed by all. The option to choose items from both the tasting menu and the pre fixe menu was a great idea. We were able to navigate the menu to find favorites to enjoy. The portions are amble. This is not one of those tasting menus where you go home and make a sandwich! The wine list featured a variety of good French wines that were affordable. Service was outstanding! Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and willing to go the extra distance. When we requested blue cheese olives for a martini, she actually stuffed the olives herself. Now, that's service!
Delicious food, beautifully presented. But it is the service that sets La Folie apart from other restaurants. It is exquisite and caring and thoughtful.
Service was fantastic. Prompt without being intrusive. They were very knowledgeable. I ordered the 5 course tasting menu, I can heartily recommend it. The wine pairing worked perfectly with each course. The cheese course was a hit, it has been a miss elsewhere. Finishing with a chocolate tarte and fruit sherbet was great, I'm a chocolate lover.
It was excellent. We were honored by the staff who made the evening fun and sometimes silly.
We have been to La Folie for several celebration dinners over the past 20 years. This was another wonderful experience. Our waiter made the evening special. I had asked for a round table and didn't get it, but that was the only disappointment. The food was outstanding although I must say we asked for a lot of tweaks to the menu. I love sweatbreads but not scallops and they put together a dish that was lovely and met all my dietary restrictions: gluten free and for a few days, low residue. The waiter and the kitchen were very accommodating. All 6 of us were very pleased with our dishes. A wonderful evening.
Very nice restaurant with outstanding service. We waited quite a while between our first course and second, which the chef acknowledged, and even came out to see how our dinner was. Very happy we came here for dinner. Thank you La Folie!
My husband and I dined at La Folie for his birthday and had a lovely time. We had the 3-course pre-fixed menu, which was more than enough food and every course was absolutely amazing. Service was impecable, as it always is at La Folie.
Food was great. Chef came at the table to talk to us. Really awesome
Celebrating my wife and I’s birthday, second time we have been here and it doesn’t disappoint! Service is spectacular, food is outstanding, and with valet parking it makes this experience so worth while.
Excellent place for any occasion. My wife and I come every year for our anniversary. 4 years later and its still as good as our first. Food is good, although I wish the menu changes a tad more, but the signature dishes are great. Highly recommended.
Most elegant start to finish, too bad most of the men weren’t in jackets, but we’re Easterners, and dress more traditionally.
This place was amazing, from the constant service to the delectable food to the chef himself coming out at the end and asking how our meal was. It was worth every penny.
We always enjoy dining at La Folie. The food is incredible as well as the attentive service. It is so nice that the chef makes it a point to greet all guests personally.
The rabbit entry is very impressive and tasty. The owner was very friendly; he came to say wish my fiance happy birthday and gave us the menu. I think the wine pairing was alright. They we're flexible on menu items, they let us swap dishes. The only thing was the courses were little heavy.
Amazing food! Still one of my favorites places to go in SF!
Elegant dining with gourmet fixed course menu prepared and served beautifully. Thank you for a dinner that was a "mini-vacation"!
Superior service! Every course was beyond expectation and the wine selection was incredible. Will certainly be dining here next time we are in the area!

Wonderful dinner! Better save up though! Extremely pricey, but worth the experience!
The food taste and presentation were excellent. The waiter and staff were friendly and efficient. The owners were gracious and hospitable. My husband and I left with a full and satisfied tummy.
Wish we could afford to come here more often. Highly recommend for a special occasion or if you are looking to treat yourself to a nice dinner experience.
Had our anniversary dinner here. We were a bit apprehensive when we walked in, saw the white table cloth interior and checked out the menu. But we were blown away by the food and service. Best food we’ve had in SF in a while. Delicious wine too. Definitely come back some time, when we’ve saved some money again ;)
This was my second dining experience at La Folie and it did not disappoint. Everything was exceptional!
It is not inexpensive, but well worth every penny considering the entire evening! I hope to go back the next time I visit the City.
Truly one of a kind restaurant. Second time eating here and the food was every bit as phenomenal as first time. Highly recommend.
A combination of unique and classic fare with excellent preparation. This is an expensive restaurant, but this is also an extraordinary restaurant. A special occasion place or something to try when your want to try something special. I have been three times. Consistently excellent.
Outstanding, memorable dining experience. Every detail was exquisite and comfortable. Will come back often.
Amazing evening, thoughtful and delicious the whole way through. What a great value considering how expensive good French food is in San Francisco. Thank you Chef Roland!
We loved meeting Chef Roland, and the food was outstanding. Thank you for an extraordinary experience for a very special evening.
Excellent service. The best. Great food. Very quiet. Highly recommended
Cordial greeting by Natalie and a totally delightful evening followed.
Creative menu, presented beautifully. Excellent wine list. Fabulous service. And the Chef Roland is charming!
Put La Folie on your "no-fail" modern French Cuisine choice.
A standard-bearer for over 30 years. Other restauranteurs should take notes from Mr. Passot. Excellent food, excellent service I can't remember when was the last time I've seen that at a high-end restaurant.
The food was terrible! My boyfriend and I both thought the same. We’re foodies and know good food, we visited several restaurants in SF while there and all of our dining experiences there were spectacular. The food here was antiquated and very poorly executed. The octopus was leathery, the lamb chops were sub par, the risotto was a mess! Very poor value for what was delivered
The most beautiful room in the city. Caviar service had lobster underneath and is one of the most delicious tastes I've ever had. Truck stop portions of the finest French delicacies! Unheard of these days as portion size is miniscule at other places. Perfect service and thoughtful wine pairing. 31 years of great fine dining. Thank you.
Above and beyond as always! ❤️ Can’t wait to visit again in November!
Outstanding French cuisine. Fantastic staff.
Come here every time visiting SF, always new creations to try and never disappoints.
Absolutely exquisite! The tasting menu with wine pairing was to die for and worked out perfectly for a business meal because we all experienced the same dishes at once and didn’t spend tons of time deciding what to order. Can not wait to return.
Plan for at least 2 hours- we got to talking and put off ordering when I had a flight to catch at 11pm. However, not only did they deliver everything within the 2 hours I had left, they even sent me home with a perfect treat for the flight on my way out. The service was as perfect as the food.
Food is good, but not great, especially for the price. Gary Danko is much better. Nice that you get a choice in each course. Lobster risotto didn't have much flavor. The duck breast was somewhat tough, albeit not overcooked. I would rate each course as good but not great.
It was our wedding Anniversary- we loved the tasting menu with wine pairings!!! The chef came out of the kitchen a few times to ask all of the guests about their experience. It was truly memorable and we highly recommended it!
We've been to this restaurant numerous times and it is always excellent. Not the best choice for an every day meal (you only have a choice of a 4 or 5 course tasting menu) but the food and service are great and it is a great place to go for a special occasion.
