I am sad to say that our experience this time, the day before the closing of the doors, was extremely disapointing. I have been supporting La Folie since its opening, dining countless times with nothing but superior service and food. Not the case on Sat the day before they closed their doors. We were a two top and did not complete our meal for over 3 hours. Tables of more came and went. We were told we were in a prime location. Not sure what happened I hope we just fell through the cracks. Had to send food back as well. 750.00plus meal and for the first time dining here feel at a loss on why our expereince was so poor.
Wish I could of reporedt differently
Good luck to chef in his retirement.
This was a special dinner on the last week of the restaurant's existence. We were greeted and spent a wonderful evening. If the restaurant had more time I would recommend it to everyone as I did for the years that it existed.
What a wonderful establishment in Russian Hill for so long. Though sad to see it go, happy that Roland and his family can finally rest some and enjoy other experiences.
Since they are closing for good this Saturday I am writing this just to get off this page...
This is not just a spot to eat, it's a dining experience! Every bite is a slice of heaven...so sorry it's closing. Have had many "dining experiences" here...
We are very sad that this wonderful restaurant is closing it’s doors for good on Saturday. We have celebrated every 5th anniversary here and this year, our 25th, was the last. Chef Roland has always created memorable evenings for us with his fabulous food and hospitality and this establishment will be greatly missed. Blessings to him and his staff for a peaceful future.
Wonderful place and so nice to be part of their winding down days - we were so happy to be able to experience the wonderful , creative food from this amazing chef and to enjoy this wonderful neighborhood place we have enjoyed for years. Thank you.
We will miss La Folie. We're going to be orphans!!
Excellent as always but bittersweet since Roland Passot will be retiring. We will so miss this lovely restaurant! The loss will leave a huge hole for classic French dining in SF
The most amazing restaurant and a wonderful experience.
Exceptional world class French cuisine executed flawlessly by Chef Roland Passot. Attentive and accommodating service along with an extensive wine list composed by Sommelier George Passot. Unfortunately, the establishment is closing after 32 years.
This is one of the very best restaurants in The Greater Bay Area and beyond.. The food is sublime, the service is outstanding and Roland Passot is the consumate chef as well as host..Before it closes, you MUST go!!!
So,so sad they are closing. Get there now!
This is our favorite restaurant in SF and will miss dining here as it will be closing
mid-March 2020.
This was my fourth time here and we came for my birthday. This is a special place and will be missed but after over 30 years working, all good things must come to an end. The French fine dining experience is coming to a close on this iconic place. We will miss it dearly. Good luck and best of retirement. You deserve the rest and relaxation after all the years of excellent work! Bravo and thank you for letting us share with you one last time.❤️🥂🥳🍾🎆🤗
Wonderful dining experience.
So good ... and such a shame it's closing. My only quibble is that it was pricey.
Absolutely divine! So happy to be able to dine at this culinary experience.
Fabulous beyond all expectations! It’s been more than 25 years since we have been there and La Folie did not disappoint. It was not the original 17 courses that we experienced the first time, but the restaurant is closing within a month and needed to streamline their menu...who could blame them?
It was a pure delight from caviar to chocolates, don’t bother trying to get a reservation now, they’re all booked until the final night...merci La Folie!
Always the best. Thank you Chef for coming out to say hello and for all the years. We will miss La Folie!!!
Excellent! Sad he is retiring.
Truly fine dining one of the most incredible food presentation with unique foods. We came several times over the years even though we never lived in San Francisco
An absolutely fabulous night. We selected the four course menu and varied the selections so that we could share. Everything was excellent. Also had the pleasure of having the very last bottle of Chassagne de Montrachet, somewhat befitting the closure.
Great experience for my birthday :-)
The food, plating, ambiance, everything is amazing. The staff is impeccable (also very knowledgeable, provides great advice through asking about your tastes and preferences), and the chef himself is very talented and passionate.
If you’re going with a partner, recommend getting as many dishes as you can to try. Photos posted of the dishes I tried (all recommended!). My boyfriend also got this dish with truffles, and that one was ✨ too.
So bummed that he’s retiring, but after 32 years, I wish him, his family and the incredible team there all the best for the next chapter. Thank you for a dining experience I will forever remember.
I wish chef the best of luck in retirement and will miss this place immensely!
Sorry they’re closing- a very unique place that I would go back to
Always the best. Bisou!
Fabulous dining experience as always. So sad it is closing.
A memorable experience. Artful presentation. Lovely to meet the Chef and enjoy his masterful menu. The tables are spaced well, not overcrowded. Would love to see the restaurant go on forever - sad that the Chef is retiring and we have such a short time left to experience it again!
We wanted to say goodbye to an excellent restaurant. Everything was perfect from the tables to the menu and the service. So sad that they are closing. Such innovative delicious food. Everything works together and you can’t go wrong with any choice. It’s been a long time since we’ve been to such a nice restaurant that really defines fine dining. Adieu et Bonne chance!
What a great place to eat. We arrived a bit early and had a drink next door prior to dinner. The food was amazing at every course.
Outstanding!!
Superb! The finest classic French restaurant in San Francisco. Chef Roland Passot is a treasure.
My wife and I are very sad to hear that La Folie will be closing after all these years. This was one of favorite restaurants and we celebrated many special days here. Good luck to everyone at the restaurant!
Best Wishes, Wes N.
Our favorite French restaurant in the Bay Area. We have been coming here for special occasions for many years and Wednesday was our 38th wedding anniversary. Food and service, as as always, were exceptional. But a bitter sweet ending to our love affair with La Folie. We are sad since Roland Passot, chef and owner is retiring after 32 years. He says at 65 it's time to retire and move on. We will miss him and La Folie but wish him well and will always have very fond memories.
I LOVE YOU, LA FOLIE! The food was exceptional as always and I'll dearly miss you!
We have been here in the past and always so enjoyed our experience, but this time our dinner was most disappointing. The service was very slow, only moderately accommodating, and the food was especially sub-par from the presentation. taste and especially the value. All of this perhaps is because the restaurant is soon to close and they are just waiting for the day to come.
We are so sad that La Folie is closing. A truly memorable experience every time.
We always come here every time when visit SF, will definitely miss this place ... good luck and farewell!!
We finally had the opportunity to eat at La Folie. It did not disappoint. It's a special occasion restaurant. A must-go before it closes in March.
