Ok food, better drinks. We felt rushed from the moment we sat down so it was not a relaxed dining experience
We were seated right away. Food and service was great. It was lunch, so I’m not sure how later in the evening would be.
Fabulous experience. Enjoyed our dinner on our short weekend getaway!
Food was good, not great, but for family dining it was fun.
COVID SUCKS!! Microscopic menus. Oh well. Adam our waiter was great!!
Good anniversary outing on a rainy pandemic evening. Food was of good flavor and quality. Menu is not the standard Tex-Mex fare. Only disappointment was the churros were bland, not seasoned/sweetened nearly enough. Service was very attentive and professional.
Wonderful dinner under the covered patio. Wait staff was attentive but not in the way.
Quick easily accommodating special requests; dishes can come with extra plates so patrons can do their own sharing— less hands on food! Good airflow even on a hot pandemic evening.
Worth a detour..spacious and pretty patio garden.
Shrimp was amazing. And the margaritas are always delicious.
First week back in SA after years away doing military stuff. La Fogada is always good. Mariachis, margaritas, tableside Guacamole, all served outside in a surprisingly mild temperature due to the shade and fans. La Fogada brings back a sense of normalcy to life during the times of COVID. I recommend the un poco de toto...too much food...but like the title says, you get two types of enchiladas (chicken/cheese), a taco stuffed with enough beef fajita meat to make 2 tacos, rice, beans, and some sort of cheese quesadilla? thing. I highly recomend.
I rated noise level a little high, but it is a good thing!!! Mariaci is amazing!!! Love this place. Margaritas are fab. Food and service is great.
Great margaritas! Carne guisada and fajitas the best I’ve had!
I've been coming here since 1985 and it is the most beautiful Garden Restaurant outside of the Riverwalk and still the Best margaritas 35 years running!
Excellent Mexican Food. Very friendly staff and wonderful service.
Was nice to have an outside option that was still covered. Great overall experience.
We had a great restaurant experience. The only issue was with the Open Table reservation. The app doesn’t give the customer an option to sit inside or outside. When we arrived the restaurant assumed outside. I didn’t agree with scenario and wished the restaurant would have called if they had an issue. I asked to sit inside and was told I had to wait as if I had no reservation. My party waited an additional 40 minutes to be seated. How can this be prevented in the future. I’m guessing placing verbiage in the special comment section. This business meal was extended longer due to the unexpected delay and I lost my business deal with the client. This was an unappreciated scenario and assumption by the restaurant.
This place is amazing! As soon as my family and I walked through the huge wooden doors into the courtyard we all literally said “wow”. It’s was like stepping into a courtyard in Mexico. The margaritas were amazing, the food was the best Mexican we’ve had outside of Mexico, the atmosphere was beautiful and our server was witty and fast! We were there 3 days ago and have talked about when we are going Togo back every day since!
Excellent food great social distancing. We felt safe and we will go back
We made a reservation for La Fogata on Open Table because the last time we showed up, we would have had to have been seated outside. We declined. So we go to this reservation and we ask the waitress about the margaritas. Of course ,there are no prices, so we ask about them. She stated the regular size was 8 for house and 12 for top-shelf. So we said we'd take the larger size- house version. She came with two huge classes that looked like a Barbie-doll tub. We received our bill and they were $23 each! You can't tell me there wasn't a size smaller. They just have regular and jumbo size? When the waitress was asked about it, she just said you asked me about the regular margarita pricing. Not cool; Beware!
Enjoyed a strawberry margarita which was really good and you could tell they used fresh strawberries! Also had the tacos al pastor which were pretty good as well. Really enjoyed the ambiance and the look of this restaurant.
I had the enchiladas verdes which were delicious! My other half had the carnitas which were a bit dry and kind of disappointing. I appreciated how safe I felt with the tables at appropriate distances and all the staff wearing masks.
We never got our food , waited an hour and 15 minutes. Manager said the order got lost
Great service and food was delicious.
We were immediately seated after advising the hostess that we had reservations via Open Table. She was very warm, accommodating and courteous. Osorio came over expeditiously to introduce himself and suggest drinks. He was quite helpful and attentive. The food was delicious, as always, and ambiance was great for the occasion! The manager came over to check on us at some point and asked if would like tortillas (“homemade” he said). We accepted and Osorio was quickly on his way as he had already thought of that! We appreciate the special care and will be driving in from Houston again in the near future. La Fogata will certainly be a “must stop” for us!
At first glance, it is nice to look at.
My reservation was set for 630Pm inside. Was not seated until 7pm after they stated my reservation wasn’t valid. It was booked through OpenTable. I watched several other groups go in who’s reservations were for 7pm before I was helped.
This place wasn’t that busy. I saw several waiters/waitresses walk by empty handed several times.
I didn’t see a waitress until 715 to even order a drink. So after an hour of being here I’ve yet to see any food.
Don’t finish your drinks too fast. It took about 20 minutes for a refill.
I didn’t get any napkins or silverware until after my food was served. My daughter was ignored for drinks and silverware. Then they brought a single napkin to the table for her.
Not impressed with the Taco Bell like food for cuisine prices.
Will not be going back
What a great place beautiful setting wait staff impeccable food outstandin
Awesome! Martin was the best waiter!!!
I have been going to La Fogata for many years. Always a great place. They make you feel very comfortable and follow all CDC guidelines.
Cute restaurant with a fun atmosphere. Was disappointed with how our reservation was handled because we were called 30 min. before our arrival time to inform us that they could not sit our party together because there is a limit to how many they can sit together due to COVID-19, they had to sit is at two different tables six feet apart, even when we were all family. They were following CDC guidelines “ or so they said” , because from I understand the limit is ten to a gathering unless it is family, but the restaurant stuck to the ten limit no matter who is in the party, to be safe rather than sorry. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is amazing. Just know , keep the party to ten or less if you want to sit together. We were there for my sister’s birthday, and it was kind of a letdown to not all sit together, but we made the best of it and had a great time. Just would’ve like more notice on the seating arrangements so we had the option to make other arrangements.
Always fantastic! Order the Rajas de Chile poblano as an appetizer, or a meal! You won’t be sorry!!
The staff at La Fogata is always awesome and o. Point!!
Wonderful food and easy to get to. Only 6 miles from downtown.
Our experience was outstanding. We recommend La Fogata to everyone.we will definitely return to dine again in the future.
Whenever I make it to San Antonio, La Fogata is a must for me to eat at. My favorite Tex-Mex go to.
The atmosphere of La Fogata has always been great with their multiple patios plus indoor areas. The patios are even more important to us now for the open air benefit. The salsa is still the best recipe anywhere and margaritas are fantastic! Luis gave us excellent service. We’ve been going there since 1978!
Great service! Our waiter was top notch and the food was delicious.
La Fogata never disappoints us. Their Chispas are always delicious and food is great. We always look forward to a night of tasteful food and drinks here.
Excellent as always. Celebrated my birthday.
The food was great. The atmosphere was open and positive. We had dinner with a couple of friends we hadn’t seen in years. The waiter worked around our conversations which allowed us to continue talking. My friend and I had enchiladas verdes, which were delicious. Highly recommend.
Food was okay and a little over priced for the quality. Everything was under seasoned. Atmosphere was amazing. It’s a gorgeous place! Great drinks, desserts, and tortillas. Entrees were alright. Gave us a complementary picture and that encouraged my mom so much for her birthday. Waiter was amazing and staff was fabulous. Super bummed the food wasn’t better.
