Food was awesome.
Great Summerlicious dinner. All our meals were delicious
Part of summerlicios - 4 of us had different meals- all excellent!
The staff was very helpful when an unexpected guest arrived making a party of five.
All our Summerlicious meals were excellent and enjoyed by everyone. Thanks.
Seafood linguine was unbelievable! Packed with mussels, clams, squid and shrimp. Overall we were really happy with our experience here.
Great place with great food
Nothing bad to say at all. Wonderful experience too to bottom. Food was probably the best I have had in as long as I can remember
We have always enjoyed dining at La Fenice and consider it one of the top Italian dining rooms in the kitchen. The antipasto is a superb and selection, and the pastas generous and flavourful. Now they have a new addition with a charcoal grill. As a steak lover, I was thrilled with this AAA Canadian rib eye, 14 oz. with chimi churri sauce. Perfectly done to my request, tender and simply delicious. And here is the kicker: $30. for the 14 oz steak. I thought it was a mistake on the menu. I have paid three times that amount for a comparable steak in this city. No, they explained, it is an introduction to their new grill menu. Go right now! Before they stop giving it away.
very friendly server, nice place for dinning, good food
The food at La Fenice was excellent. I enjoyed every bit of it. I will definitely be going back!!!!
Great Italian food with very excellent service!
Ate there before the symphony concert. My pork steak was perfectly cooked and an Arrugula salad was the perfect balance
Food was excellent and portion sizes were great. I had the fettuccine with salmone and light cream sauce. I don’t like heavy cream or a lot of cream and I’m glad I tried this because the cream was light and the dish was delicious! The tiramisu and creme brûlée were fresh, light and the best I’ve ever tasted. Service was attentive but not annoying. We also enjoyed the free bruschetta and bread with butter. I will definitely go again.
Nice Italian restaurant in the heart of theater district. Great place for pre/post theater dinner outing. Business casual attire.
Surprisingly fairly priced wine, I recommend the seafood risotto.
Great service, delicious food in a beautiful restaurant. One of our faves in Toronto.
We enjoy going to La Fenice whenever we’re attending a show, and this visit was just as enjoyable as previous ones. An excellent menu (though, surprisingly, we did not see a steak entree), and terrific service (thanks, Sydney!). The portions were generous and beautifully cooked. Thanks again!!
Took colleagues to dinner at La Finece while in Toronto for work. The food was outstanding, however it was trumped by the service. Danielle was an amazing waitress; eloquent, knowledgable and incredibly friendly. Her co-server was also absolutely great.
Chef needs to learn how to season food. My veal with mushrooms was so bland it was almost tasteless.
Our server was indifferent. He did not offer any specials but we heard him recite them to a nearby table after we had ordered. We had to ask for the bill and then wait for the machine, then he promptly disappeared. Overall a very disappointing experience.
Fantastic food. Great wines. Great service. Highly recommend. Been there multiple time.
Thank you, Robert, for the five stars! and for taking the time to share your experience on Open Table. We're so glad you enjoy dining with us, and we hope to see you again soon. Cheers!
Great spot to dine before heading to a show in the area. Service was outstanding and the menu had many options to choose from. Wines selection was also very nice and affordable. Will keep on list for future shows to come back. Loved it!
Amazing food and amazing service. We will return!
Thank you for the five stars! We're so glad you enjoyed your experience at La Fenice! Hope to see you again soon. Cheers!
Server used our corporate dinner to run-up the tab by suggesting “off menu” items. Apps and mains. Had to plead with him to share the menu for our mains. $144 for (2) appetizer platters (melon, prosciutto, shrimp and a few calamari) were ridiculous. Glad we ordered the mains off the menu. The “family style” meat lovers platter he suggested sounding great for a tailgate but not a business dinner. A little too pushy for my liking. Food was great!
I'm sorry, Mr. C if the server was being too pushy. He may have been overzealous in his delivery, but I can assure you that the intention is not to run up the tab; this is not our style at La Fenice, and we don't encourage this practice. Chef Rocco prepares many off-menu specials every day, and our servers do get very excited about the Chef's specialties. We are glad you enjoyed the meal! We thank you for your feedback and hope you will dine with us again soon. Sincerely - Rita F.
I have been going to La Fenice almost since it opened. I was not impressed. The service was spotty. The food was not as good as it used to be. They have become complacent. Wake up, guys! You have a lot of competition.
I'm sorry you experienced spotty service, this certainly is not our standard. We all work very hard to maintain the high standards our customers have come to expect. Working hard to please our customers is the reason we have been in business for 35 years. There is no complacency here, and it troubles me that you view us this way. We are, in fact, a very humble hard-working family and are thankful every day for the support we get from our loyal customers and community. Sincerely Rita F.
Serving sizes were excellent and food was exceptional!
Thank you, Theresa, for taking the time to rate us on OpenTable. We're so glad you enjoyed your experience at La Fenice. Cheers!
Came for the second time this evening. Service and food were top notch. Authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of the theater district. Shayan is awesome
Exceptional shellfish that we had in several different ways - clams, calamari, mussels, shrimp. We asked for special serving combinations and they accommodated all our requests.
classy italian eatery in theatre district. good salads and seafood and desert. not cheap but great for special occasion
This was our first time. The service was beyond excellent. The wait staff very attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. I asked for a change to my risotto and they were most accommodating. The atmosphere was very enjoyable. We weren't rushed but we also didn't have to wait long between courses. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I hope we get to go again.
Service was fantastic. my meal was delicious. ravioli with ricotta. my husband was not too impressed with the flavour of his lightly breaded chicken and side of veggies. I loved mine and the salad, mixed greens.
Outstanding service. Delicious food. But the shrimp fradiavola was not very spicy.
The food was amazing and the dtaff was helpful and friendly.
Thank you so much for being such a special part of a wonderful evening as we celebrated my parents on their anniversary! 46 years and going strong! You never fail to impress!! Great food and great people - thank you again!
We always go to La Fenice when we are in Toronto especially for special occasions.
We have never been disappointed with the quality of the food, the selection and the wait staff is excellent.
Great location if you are going to the theatre.
I highly recommend La Fenice
Great location; excellent food, and wine selection.
We had such an authentic experience at La Fenice, from the food to the ambiance to the service. Quality of the food was spectacular and our server made our experience so memorable. Would definitely recommend to others.
We went to this great Italian restaurant prior to going to a second city comedy show. The ambience was cozy and the food generously portioned and delicious. We shared a seafood appetizer and tried their bolognese pasta, which is like no other, and an amazing branzino fish, that was deboned table side, as entrees. The experience is quite authentic which is something that was expected from a place that’s been at the heart of the theatre district for more than 30 years.
The waiter convinced me to order the combination calamari, shrimp and salmon plate (broiled) as it hd a little of everything. Great!! When my food came out it was the fish which needed to be deboned. Well I kept the order as I did not want to wait for another order to b made and they were nice enough to give me a broiled shrimp and some broiled calamari. My friend had a chicken parm which was very dry and had to ask for more sauce. This made it passable!! Both entrees came with mixed vegetables which were good and my friend's entree also came with a "baked potato" which was one mall piece of potato. Not to most people's standards for a baked potato. The waiter then spilled a full glass of red wine over the table and my dress. Not col as we were going to the theatre across the street. My friend felt badly for the waiter and said "I feel bad for you . This must be a difficult situation." He replied he did not feel badly at all for the wine spill and was doing his best. WE bot sat there shocked at his response. The restaurant did give us two $20 gift cards to come back to a mediocre restaurant which by the way is in another country. They did take some off our bill but in my mind we should never have had to pay for ay of this as I went to the play with a wine soaked dress which can never be worn again.
From the moment we arrived everything was dealt with in a very professional and amenable. The maitre-d seated us quickly he was very cordial and our waitress that served us was friendly and courteous and did a great job looking after our time schedule as we had tickets to a show afterwards. The food was amazing, especially Nonas tarts, wonderful homemade dishes and I can attest to this as I come from an Italian family. Great job to La Fenice and thank you for another great experience, every time I've been here I've never been disappointed.
When La Fenice opened its doors on King St in 1984, it set the standard for classy upscale Italian in downtown Toronto. 35 years later, it continues in its unwavering devotion to excellence. A great spot for dinner before theatre or a concert at Roy Thompson Hall, or a longer and leisurely evening, you always leave feeling like you were treated like a VIP while enjoying some very fine dining. Mozzarella Di Bufala is beautifully presented with colorful tomatoes on a giant plate. Risotto con Funghi is sublime, flavors are abundant and the texture just right (yes, they avoid that undercooked crunchiness that seems trendy with risotto chefs). The daily special, linguini with spicy tomato sauce and lobster tail is superb, and the always favorite whole branzino delights. My first trip to this place was in 1987. My last trip will be shortly before I leave the planet.
