We enjoyed everything — food was excellent and the service was great. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the loud music which seemed to be a sixties Muzak remix. It didn’t fit with the ambience of the restaurant. It seemed better suited to a hotel happy hour for seniors. That said we will definitely be going back again.
La Fava Restaurant and Bar is the real deal. Execution that sparkles from host, to bar, to wait, to kitchen teams. Just back from a long week at the shore and wanted to go out on a high note … we split the arugula fried goat cheese salad with fresh spring strawberries, the always decadent mussels red, clams white with crusty chewy Italian dipping bread to mop up the sauce and split the Sunday Special house made lasagna - absolutely way better than my own.
We were seated at the bar area because we wanted to watch the Belmont Stakes horse race. Once the race was over we ordered our meals. My wife ordered the de-boned Game Hen and I ordered the Stuffed Pork Chop. The "De-boned" Game Hen was a boned chicken leg & thigh and my Pork Chop was a little dry but both were very tasty!
The waiter Leonard was very good & had been working all day since breakfast and out reservation was at 7pm.
We enjoyed the time there and would return if ever in the area again.
The set up in the parking lot is lovely ( there were about 30 tables or more) and it was a beautiful evening. Our young server was very sweet and attentive and everything we had was delicious . The fried calamari dish was the most tender we have ever had( and we’ve eaten a lot of calamari!!!) we will be back— just wish it was a bit closer to us!
Service was not good at all, server kept asking to decide a entree just as we were deciding appetizers. Felt rush and didn’t enjoy our time there. Probably will not go back!!
LaFava never disappoints! From the welcome at the front desk their team is friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Drinks, food, atmosphere were excellent. We’ve never had a bad experience here! Highly recommend.
Reservation ease, great waitress, delicious food, creative drinks, and comfortable setting.
The food was great! And our server, I forget his name, was awesome! He was always there with another mimosa when ours were empty. We were a little late for our reservation but the host insured us that it wasn’t a problem and we were able to switch to our door seating since it was a gorgeous day. Very nice staff and very good food. And the bottomless mimosas were worth it!
First, let me compliment La Fava on creating a beautiful dining area in their parking lot. The potted and hanging plants, strings of lights and nice quality table and chairs all added to a lovely atmosphere. I’d say they could do it every summer, post Covid, and draw a good crowd. Our server Zoe was on top of it all; mentioned all the specials, checked on us frequently, welcoming and friendly. Meatball appetizer, good sauce — not acidic like some places. My husband had the seafood stew, said it was excellent and ate every bite. My poached pear salad was also wonderful — not too much dressing, beautifully presented, large portion. Side of perfectly prepared salmon was also a nice portion. Finally, table side banana foster — what a nice ending to a lovely meal. We will certainly return soon.
The food was amazing, service was exceptional and the live music was a fun surprise. We will be back!
Great food and excellent service!
Nice restaurant. Will have outside dining when the weather permits. Friendly greeting. Great service. Delicious food.
Our server was Maria and she was fantastic. You’re lucky to have her!
Fantastic as always! Food was absolutely amazing, cooked to perfection and tasted incredible. The service was second to none! Our waitress, Maria treated my wife and I like we were the only 2 people in the restaurant. There is absolutely no question as to whether we will be back! La Fava is fast becoming one of our favorite restaurants to go to for a special occasion or just a casual evening out.
Food is outstanding, service was very accommodating!
Food was good but the appetizers were very small portions given the expensive price.
First time there the bottomless mimosas were on point!!
First time and really enjoy it. Brunch was delicious. The only issue I had was refills on beverages.. I need to start asking if it’s free refills because I was charged for each glass of soda (which was not worth $2.00 each).
We arrived and were seated promptly at an outdoor table. They have created a very pleasant ambiance outside with plants, umbrellas and comfortable chairs. The service was prompt, our server was highly competent and attentive. The food was excellent as always. I had the Raine wedge (large enough to share). Hubby had little neck clams. For entrees he had Dover sole filleted at the table and I had lobster raviolis. Excellent!
Everything we ordered was delicious. There were six of us fir a birthday dinner. Everyone really enjoyed their meals, the service and the ambiance. We ate inside. Jack was an awesome server! Thank you. We will be back again soon!
The food was delicious and cooked perfectly! We can't wait to go back! Great customer service!
Great experience all around! Dined outside and the live music was fantastic. The food was great, and our server was fantastic despite being his first week on the job! Can’t wait to go back!
Lovely outdoor and indoor seating. Soft shell crabs were great, truffle fries were soggy. Too bad they were out of the fried artichokes
Had brunch with a group of friends. Food was delicious and the bottomless mimosas hit the spot. Highly recommend
I felt that we were seated to close to other patrons and that our conversation wasn’t private. The seafood stew was delicious.
Waitress was very pleasant and food was outstanding. Interior tables a bit close but ok and again food was awesomw!!
Food was good. Service was poor.
First visit based on 4 star+ reviews. Because of same had high expectations and perhaps was disappointed because of the less than exceptional experience.
Service: was spotty. Took about two minutes to bring appetizer. Then waited 30 minutes for dinner. Dessert (gelato) took 15 minutes to serve though our server did thank us for our patience. While we we’re waiting for dessert a gentleman who appeared to be an owner chatted with the next table, obviously friends but oblivious that our table was empty and we had to be waiting for something. Didn’t raise a look from him. When dinner was served, Server placed pasta dishes on table with his thumbs inside rim of the bowls.
Food: my wife enjoyed the Jerusalem artichoke though I thought it was ordinary. Her 4 cheese pasta with smoked duck was very good and a go to dish for a future visit. I had the bison pappardelle that was tasty though a little tart. The gelato was very good. Few slices of bread served were stale; the fava bean spread was good.
Noise: near middle of meal, noise level increased to noisy as the restaurant filled though we were able to hear each other.
Food was terrible and nobody addressed the fact that food was inedible.
We made a reservation for 7:30 and then checked in with the hostess. We were told that we would have to wait 15-20 minutes to be seated due to wait staff shortage but we would receive a text when a seat was available. We were never sent a text. I understand there is a wait staff shortage but then you should limit the amount of reservations and tables being served. We will likely not try it again in the future.
Food was Excellent. Owner was also very hospitable as well. Soon as they get to full staffing level, watch out.
Finally able to go out to a restaurant and have a good meal.
The food was delicious and the service was top notch as usual!
Not quite a fair review. Was a Mother's Day buffet, not known when reservation made. Wouldn't have gone if known. Pasta bar was very good but rest was lacking. Got impression they don't regularly do buffet? Will probably try restaurant again with regular menu.
Booked for Mother’s Day diner, upon arrival realized it was a fixed buffet style evening, thought we were going to have regular diners. My fault, I should have asked or no big deal. Meals were set up with buffet meats, pasta, appetizer and deserts sections. The food was good, service was great, they seemed very busy and a little Nader staffed. I do have to say they were great with not rushing us out of there. Was able to enjoy the evening with the family. I do want to come back and enjoy an evening and try their regular menu, I have heard nothing but good.
Simply not right to mandate a buffet dinner without disclosing that fact at the time of the reservation. Learning of this fact upon arriving at the restaurant is totally unacceptable given that there were no other options to consider given that it was Mother’s Day. Food was below average. Bartender was unfriendly. The entire experience was disappointing and we won’t return
I had a reservation for 5:15. When I got there at 5....they were overwhelmed and things seemed a mess. When I finally got assisted by the hostess after 10 min, she told me it would be $185 for a party of 3. I had NO idea it was a buffet...esp in covid I was a bit taken aback. She told me it was on their website but I only went on Yelp and looked at their menu there. Plus, when I spoke to a person on the phone, no one told me it was a buffet. So after that, they told me it would be about 20 min. Ok fine. So I went into the bar area and stood and watched. There were so many tables dirty and 3 in particular that were already set up. No one was seated in the 20 min I stood there. There must have been 30 people outside waiting to be seated. They were extremely disorganized. I finally pressured someone to seat us....considering I watched all those empty tables for over 20 min!! Plus the fact, they don't have servers, so I didn't understand the hold up.
We had a reservation for two - check in was confusing, you were required to pay when you were checked in - they were offering a Mother's Day brunch at approx. $39 per person for reservations starting at 10 until 2pm - our reservation was for 12:30 and we were charged $49 per person. We made our reservation prior to La Fava offering a brunch the only menu available was their ala carte menu when we reserved. We were not sent any message or indicator that there was a buffet. All service was self serve except for bussing - the buffet was indoor and outdoor, the staff at the outdoor table was not familiar with what they were offering- the condiments were unavailable outdoor as were a continued supply of drinks. The drinks were not marked - I ended up with a mimosa, when I though it was orange juice. This was not well organized at all and we heard a number of people like us who tried La Fava for the first time say they would never be back on their way out. Yes, there was outdoor seating, but social distancing was at a bare minimum. The person at the table behind me hit my chair when they got up. Management seemed to be the problem here not the serving staff as they were minimal - there was no organization and what appeared to be a lot of angry customers. La Fava also has a cancellation policy -4 days in advance or be charged a cancellation fee - not having checked the site after I made the reservation - I don't know when they changed the offering to the "incomplete" buffet from the ala carte menu, but they would have been better served sticking to the ala carte menu than trying to capitalize on crowds for Mother's Day. I also contacted management regarding the price that was charge for an explanation and never received a return email or call - I used their site to contact them.
We went on Mother's Day and they were short handed so I can't say our experience is representative of a normal day at La Fava. In our case, they were serving a buffet which, including tip, for 3 of us was around $200 (drinks were separate). I was ok with the price after seeing the reviews, but the wait to get in (with reservations) was around 20 minutes due to staffing, the food was only average and there were not a lot of choices.
Awful, very very overpriced. Be careful at this place. Very slimy. Mothers Day, trick for buffet only $61.95 per person. Should have ran from this place........ party of 5 waiting to be seated. Reservations were for full menu, no mention buffet. Worst money ever spent. I’m here to tell you DO NOT go to this place. I will keep posting my experience until people hear this.
