   Authentic Vietnamese food in NYC, and many varieties to choose from and relatively not found in most Vietnam restaurants in US. Worth to good, great to go with friends and allow to try more food.

   I ate lunch at La Dong today. I was quite impressed with everything. The wait staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. My meal was outstanding! Everything was fresh and delicious The atmosphere in La Dong is higly pleasant as well. If I lived in New York City I would eat at La Dong frequently. I highly recommend this restaurant!

   Came with group of 6 and everyone was very pleased with their lunch choices. I had vermicelli noodles with roast pork and it was excellent.

   Make reservations! The wait on a Saturday night at 6:30pm (early) was still crazy. I'm so happy I made it just the night before. We ordered the mussels, calamari and the Bún Chả Hanoi (grilled pork and noodles). All dishes used exceptional ingredients. The mussels were plump though we were disappointed in the juice. We thought it would be more intense/deep but it was quite light. The fried bread to dip was a bit heavy. We craved a good regular baguette. The calamari was our favorite. Large pieces were cooked well and coated with delicious sauce. I would come back for that! The Bún Chả Hanoi was top notch - the grilled pork came as a skewer and had an intense grilled pork flavor. My sister found it too porky but I liked to taste my meat. :) The crab & shrimp spring roll was lovely and I wished for more. The lettuce, fresh herbs and pickles balanced the pork and the dipping sauce brighten each bites. We did need some hot sauce to add a kick - a personal preference. The service was attentive and efficient. They got to move people but we didn't feel rushed. The decor, lighting and the sounds gave the whole experience a cool, fun vibe. I hope next time to sit in the middle or the booths under the fun lighting. The bar also looked fun to be at. I know it's not the most budget friendly for the food but you really are paying for more than that. Don't come to La Dong if you're expecting 'cheap' Vietnamese food. You can find good but affordable in Chinatown or Queens.
