La Cucina Ristorante Italiano
2 hours to make a dinner is a bit long...
I get it was home made but some prep would have been nice to make things move a bit faster would have been nice.
Food was very good
Not 2 hour good tho.
This is my absolute FAVORITE restaurant. We love the food and the service. The food is amazing and always fresh! Its great to be able to take your time dining and talking with friends.
my favorite restaurant...period...nothing better than spending a couple hours of good conversation over some delicious dishes with family and friends.
We love this place. It would be a 5-star if the service was not so slow, but we understand it's a one-chef kitchen and appreciate the care he takes preparing each dish. Food is excellent. Best Italian restaurant on island.
Service, food always exceptional.
It is an exquisite experience dining here where things are literally made fresh to order. The burrata and crostini are necessary each time we visit, and they never disappoint us. Set aside the rest of your evening as this is an experience that warrants a few hours of enjoying eachothers’ company and enjoying their wines. Montepulciano goes well with fish or any meat, order by the bottle. Mahalo Dara Don and staff!
Every meal at La Cuchina is always perfect. Hands down the best Italian food in Hawaii.
Made a reservation for two but guess there was a glitch in the reservation system and was still able to make the reservations. Arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation, even though restaurant was almost empty told that since we only had a party of two would have a long wait and put on a waiting list. After a moderate wait we were seated. Site said it was byob with a rather expensive corking fee but they had wine and beer for sale. Ordered the house white wine then told they were out of it after ordering. I ordered a clam pasta dish and they brought my meal with the wrong pasta and asked it I would accept it, which I didn’t. My date ordered their popular dungeon crab pasta. It came with one crab claw, sticking out from the middle of the pasta like a tomb stone. Unless you stirred the pasta in the oily sauce there wasn’t much flavor. There wasn’t much crab flavor. I’m glad I didn’t ask for more bread as they will charge you for more. As dinner progressed and the establishment filled up and it got too noisy and a normal conversation was difficult. Don’t think there was any music and you wouldn’t have been able to hear it anyway. Don’t come hungry as the portions are moderate, but if you order appetizers, salad and desert you’ll be satisfied. I have to say the pasta itself was very tasty and really liked the texture. I had informed them it was our anniversary and no mention was made and definitely no additional service. Not sure why my friend recommended this place, but next time I will make sure I go to a tried and true restaurant worthy of celebrating a special occasion. This place would even hold up to an Olive Garden.
Best Italian restaurant in Honolulu with the friendliest staff. The food is always consistent and delicious!
Understood our meal were made to order and had the opening seating at 5:30. Our table of four didn’t receive our entrees until an hour and 45 minutes after our seating at about 7:15. We shared an appetizer for the table and it was a good we brought in a special bottle of wine for dinner. It helped pass the time. The entrees were good but not so spectacular that it was worth the wait. Our service person should have given us status updates instead of us having to ask.
One of our favorites. Best Italian cuisine in Honolulu.
We keep coming back to dine at this remarkable restaurant. The quality of the food comes close to the restaurants we visited in Italy. Small family run restaurant so expect to relax, drink wine, have great conversations with great food!
Everything was fresh and delicious! It was best to do family style as the dishes comes out one at a time, so everyone can eat tapas style.
This is a small restaurant that makes Honolulu's best Italian food. It is best enjoyed eating family style, as the food comes out a little slow, which allows everyone to try a little of everything.
Fresh made from scratch Italian food. The customer service is awesome. I recommend reservations always for this place it's small and most people come to eat and have whine at slow pace
Always a great meal at La Cucina Ristorante... Thank you Dora and Team for a wonderful dining experience.
I’ve been coming here for a few years now and the biggest thing that stands out to me each time is the consistency of the delicious food and consistency of great service. Thanks La Cucina
Greeted by friendly waitstaff
Our reservation was for 5:30 which is when the restaurant opens. However, the restaurant didn't even open until 5:50 and we had to wait 20 minutes just to get in. Can't your staff come in earlier so that you don't have to have your customers already wasting 20 minutes just to get seated? Customers are there on time, that the staff and owners should open on time out of respect. It took over an hour to get our food. When I got the food there were only 6 little ravioli pieces for about $20.00. The restaurant is small in an office building complex so there isn't much ambiance. Have to rethink about going back.
This food is superb. being fashioned by a Vietnamese chef who does Italian proud. It ranks with the best in major cities like NYC and San Francisco, but without the inflated price. There are so many savory choices but the Risotto Zafferano (fish, prawns, mussels, Manila clams, calamari, garlic, and capers in a white wine saffron sauce) is heavenly. For the meat lovers, the Trenette Bolognese (ground veal, pork, and beef in tomato sauce topped with Pecorino Romano served over Trenette pasta) is a solid choice. The signature Osso Buco can't be topped but has to be ordered a couple days ahead. In fact, the caveat of dining here is to order all your dishes ahead of time because it is freshly made and takes a long time to prepare.
We had heard good things about this restaurant, but I will not return. They charged $15 for corkage, even through they did not have a liquor license. The service was slow, and 2 people in our party found their food to be too salty to eat. The restaurant is small and cozy, but noisy. We brought our own wine, skipped dessert and coffee, and still spent $200 for a party of 4.
Made reservation at 8:15pm, got seated around 8:40pm. Not the restaurant’s fault as the existing customers were taking their time finishing up their food/ drinks. Quite loud in the restaurant due to a particular table. But once seated, and once the loud party left, everything was superb. Will be coming back 100%!
Great little gem in Honolulu. It was our first time and was highly recommended . I agree!
Food takes way too long. 1.5 hours for a main course is unacceptable for restaurant dining. Especially when your the 2nd or 3rd table in the restaurant.
Very small space. But easily best Italian foof in Honolulu. Nice wine list and you can bring your own wine as well.
It was a pleasant evening. Great food and service was excelled
We had a reservation at 8:30 pm but still had to wait longer than 30 minutes.
Tried 4 times before but wasn't able to get it. Food and service was awesome! The bone marrow was the best we ever had! A must try! Definitely will go back again. It was definitely worth the wait.
Good but not outstanding.
Compliments to the chef!! Food was excellent!! Service was excellent!! Will definitely dine again!! Aloha La Cucina!!
Relaxed, comfortable, and delicious. It was a bit loud, but it could have been where we were sitting and the customers who were there that evening.
