La Cote D'Or

Dinner time we will have a caricaturist from 7.15 to 9
It was the first time I dined here but can’t wait to go back and try other dishes.
I am recommending the Egg Meurette as well as the crepe with fried egg, ham and cheese from the brunch menu ... yummy !!
Service was very good as well
As always, Cote D'Or provided the great combination of excellent food preparation, friendly and attentive service, and good value. Chef Jacque knows how to cook, insist on competent service and offer wines that are good but do not break the bank. Never disappoints.
No Open Table points at this restaurant.
The steak Fetes were excellent and the service was superb. A great value for a high quality meal.
After my father died, I had to spend several weeks in Arlington VA taking care of his affairs. By the end of each busy day, I was too tired to cook for myself and needed to unwind. This little restaurant on Lee Hwy was just what I was looking for. Authentic French cuisine, excellent service (without being pretentious or fussy), cozy ambience, and quiet. I was so pleased on the first occasion that I returned the next night -- and the next, and the next. I became a regular ("Your usual table, Monsieur?"). I'm sure the waiters thought I was very peculiar coming in every night by myself. But they were extremely pleasant and welcoming, and I always left more than a 20% tip. The food is excellent. One can choose from two different, affordable fixed price menus. I highly recommend the onion soup, beet salad, smoke salmon and devilled eggs appetizers; the duck and mussels main courses; and the chocolate mousse for desert. The house wines are also excellent. The restaurant attracts mainly an older crowd -- which means that the patrons are quiet and well-behaved. I highly recommend La Cote D'Or to anyone looking for elegant, French dining without the attitude. I will miss it.
My Food was tasteless and significantly undercooked. Drink was watered down and flavorless. Way too costly for what was served
We enjoyed a leisurely lunch, with excellent food (trout almondine and salad niçoise) and outstanding service!
The service was wonderful, they did everything to accommodate my group of 8. Food was amazing and service extraordinary!!
Because of price, I did not visit too much. But when I would it was always something special. However this time was disappointing.
Great food, good music, excellent staff! Great experience all around!
Say on patio. Enjoyed everything.
Another first-rate dining experience! A great menu to choose from, wonderful food, excellent service and a quiet elegance. La Cote d’Or is one of the few restaurants we frequent that continues to defy the impulse to offer something nouveau, instead stick with traditional favorites and doing them superbly. That’s why we keep coming back.
Good food, good service. Nice atmosphere & decor. .
Everything was delicious and the staff could not have been better from the moment we walked in the door. It was our wedding anniversary (which was noted on the reservation) and without my knowing it they brought us two complimentary glasses of champagne - very nice touch. Will definitely return.
The food and service were outstanding. Continues to be my favorite restaurant for special occasions and conversation.
Fabulous place! First time there in 10 years and will start going back frequently.
We really liked it! It was a full great experience
An intimate setting. Pleasant and efficient service. Delicious food.
Really a neat place with a vibe that makes you forget you are in the DC Metro area for a while. The wait staff was very friendly and made us feel very special and welcome there.
Four us had lunch last Wednesday for a birthday. We have gone there for birthdays for many years. We waited too long before the server took our order. Then we waited too long for our food while watching those around us getting food even though they arrived after us. We had to ask for dressing for the salad nicoise. Our birthday girl is gluten free. She ordered chocolate mousse with sable. As I knew that was a Breton cookie, I asked him about it, and he erroneously said that was the coulis. When the mousse came, there was cookie underneath it. We ate it, but the server kindly gave our friend another without the cookie to take home.
We've been going there for years. It's always excellent. Service is friendly and attentive. Has a Wednesday special on food and wine that's a bargain.
This was one of our favorite restaurants until we received very poor service this past experience. The food is good and the quality is good, but we will not return do the service we received.
The restaurant had a special menu for Mother's day with varied appetizers, entrees, and deserts. Getting the fixed price 3 course meal had one choice from each. On a whole it was a nice deal.
While the food was excellent the seating was not. We were sat at a table in basically the entrance waiting area even though I had made a reservation early. We noticed that other groups who came in right after us were seated in the main room. We also had a waiter who "overstepped" by pushing an appetizer on us that wasn't what we had originally wanted. Not that it wasn't good but we heard him later pushing the other appetizer on another table.
But the food was excellent, the sauces almost perfect, the portions nicely balanced.
I suspect that this is a restaurant that is wonderful almost anytime but gets a bit stretched when a whole day goes by at full capacity.
The service was excellent just the right mix of attentive without being annoying. Very good food, and my impression is that it's still improving. The value of the food is hard to beat. We have been for two special occasions. One with a large group and one with a small group in both cases everyone came away happy.
Brought back memories of France! Delicious Coq au Vin, fun prix fixe menu, lots of options, fresh bread. Overall, we enjoyed a night out with some delicious dishes.
The service wasn’t the best at first since we were waiting for a host to sit us for a while. But then once seated the service was better. Food was ok. Old school French food so if you’re looking for a modern look on French food this is not the place.
The best trout almandine I have ever had.
Very fond of this restaurant. Attractive dining spaces in a comfortable, Old World way. Quiet, conducive to conversation. Welcoming and attentive staff. However, the quality of the food can be inconsistent. On our last occasion, the bread felt stale, and the preparation of the cod fish was not successful. We will return, simply because the other factors are so good, and we can generally get a good meal.
Expensive for food that wasn’t great. Not sure what cut of meat the steak was but it was fatty and didn’t go well with gravy. Some people like marble in meats but most don’t like the fattiness. Fries were burnt and old.
Staff was great. Cute setting.
Excellent food and an affordable wine menu.
La Cote D'Or has been consistently excellent for decades. Kudos to the new owner for keeping the attentive and excellent staff and some of the favorite menu items.
Great dinner. Relatively quiet. Good value.
Excellent food with good service. Went there with my wife to celebrate life and had a great time all together
I always enjoy being in the beautiful, cozy, atmosphere of La Cote D'Or. BUT, I like quiche Lorraine . . . and this chef does not seem to be able to adapt to a proper recipe. The one served at this restaurant is FILLED with ham. A notable French recipe does not recommend the amount this chef uses. The amount he uses destroys the beauty and taste of a quiche!!
Please adjust your recipe.
I love this restaurant. A small, unpretentious gem with delicious French bistro cuisine and a warm, attentive staff.
Used to go there 10 years ago, the food then was OK. Then we moved away a bit further away from the area so haven't been there for quite a while. Researching for good French restaurants around DC, VA area and found the restaurant has changed ownership. The food is as authentic French as it gets in the U.S. The servers were very attentive, plus everything is reasonably priced. Weill definitely go back.
I was a bit worried after reading several negative reviews however decided to give it a shot anyway. I love really good French Restaurants and this place did not disappoint. Went to celebrate A birthday and it was fairly busy when we arrived (7:30pm Saturday evening) The staff was dealing with a busy restaurant so our wait seemed very short given the situation (maybe 5 minutes after seating we had bread and water delivered). Appetizers we tried were the Caesar salad, French Onion Soup and the Escargot. All tasted amazing, the soup was hot and very savory. The Escargot was unique for me, never had it with the bread on top but I must confess it was very good this way!
My entree was the Ribeye it was cooked to perfection, and one of the better steaks I've had in a long time. My dinning partner ordered the Seafood stew and was very happy with the flavor and outcome.
Don't listen to the haters try this place out, every place has good and bad days, I expect not so perfect days on Saturday evenings but was surprised at how well they did.
Cote D’Or is simply the best kept secret. We always enjoy our meal and experience at this lovely neighborhood French restaurant. The meals are always fresh and well priced. Best Caesar salad ever. Lovely soups and other French inspired treats.
The food was well prepared and delicious. More remarkable was our ability to dine at a leisurely pace. Never felt rushed in order to turn the table.
A little gem of a restaurant. In McLean, where I live, we no longer have a French retaurant. Cote d'Or has become my go-to for French cooking. The bouillabaisse was excellent as was the accompanying bread and spread. My friend had a New Orleans-style muffaletta sandwich that wasn't up to New Orleans standards, but wasn't bad, but proably shouldn't count in a review given that it isn't authentically French either.
