La Cote D'Or Ratings and Reviews
La Cote D'Or is a great little neighborhood restaurant serving high-quality bistro-like meals. For example, I enjoyed a large serving of delicious mussels accompanied by a paper cone (in a special wire frame holder) filled with perfectly-prepared French fries. And, my wife had a very tasty vegan dish served in a crepe made from garbanzo beans -- quite imaginative!
We were there for rex cake for the Epiphany. Alas, we didn't find the coin but did have a terrific meal (cassoulet). La Cote D'Or is a comfortable neighborhood bistro with an authentic, but not over the top menu. It's not the place for great novelty but if you want excellent cooking in a friendly atmosphere, I recommend it
An absolutely wonderful meal and experience. I had the cassoulet, an awesome winter dish. The ingredients were delicious. My wife had the trout and loved it. The service was impeccable. The menu is expansive, incredible for such an intimate restaurant. We will return!
Excellent food for the NYE special menu - got the foie gras with duck prosciutto > venison with chestnut potatoes and mushroom tart > swan meringue with hazelnut ice cream. Service was a little slow and did not provide much info on the menu. However, the sommelier was helpful in recommending a nice Cotes du Rhône wine for dinner. Venison was cooked perfectly and possibly the most tender I’ve ever had (not easy to achieve with this games my, lean meat). Nice, quaint ambience; not too noisy. Entryway is a little cramped, which was an issue when 3 parties were waiting to be seated. Overall, staff was good, very friendly, and the chef came out to say hello and wish everyone a happy NYE.
I booked a dinner reservation for New Year's Eve with some trepidation as on that night, meals and services have been rushed at other restaurants.
The service was great and unhurried, the waiter polite and knowledgeable and the menu interesting and beautifully presented. The chef even came around to make sure we were enjoying the meal.
I will certainly return and recommend it to my friends.
Menu was misleading what was posted on line and what was presented to one of three odf us was not accurate. We came for the oysters and there were none.
They change the menu a lot and that nights selection were not exactly what I wanted.
Chicken dish I had contained potatoes which were still very hard.
Bread was great
Dessert were also not a great selction for my taste on this night
As always, a dining experience that is excellent French but not fussy or outrageously expensive. Good service despite being very busy. Food to remember and appreciate. Veal chop to swoon over and salmon with crab to savor. Parking can be an issue so allow time before your must have dinner reservation.
Lovely experience and ambiance for a Saturday brunch with family. Menu options varied and each guest enjoyed their choices. However, one guest asked for "no cheese" when placing his order and received cheese in his dish. Another requested and addition to her salad and did not receive it. The waiter indicated he had not heard the request/s and was appropriately apologetic. We will return though will be clearer with wait staff when requesting alternatives when ordering.
Classic, "ordinary" French food is a real comfort in a quiet space with excellent service. The traditional dishes are prepared just the way you want them: not with an effort to be novel, but with great care to be exactly right. The seafood crepes were stuffed with a fresh varied filling and the Boeuf Bourguignon was just right for a cold evening.
We met with some friends who were visiting from Delaware. They are partial to French food; so we settled on this restaurant for dinner. The food was wonderful and the service was perfect. There was a parking garage which helped, as the traffic at 6:45 pm was awful.
This was our first outing to LaCoteD'Or since the new owner took over. We knew the original owners and had several special occasion family events at the restaurant. We were saddened when we learned of Ramon's death and did not know what to expect with the turnover. However, we were delighted to see that high standards and delectable food continue to dominate. We definitely will make LaCoteD'Or a special occasion place in the future.
Nice to rediscover Chef Jacques of previous owner of Mediterranee Restaurant (Great Falls). We loved visiting Mediterranee and missed it, when it was closed. It was great pleasure to dine at La Côte d'Or Café and enjoy wonderful food. Everything on menu is great and you will not go wrong. The ambience and service is just like good old Mediterranee Restaurant . Friendly and welcoming staff with visits from the chef. It is like visiting a friend for dinner.
Must visit and enjoy!
La Cote D'or consistently delivers on a terrific dining experience. We shared a chacuterie platter, and it was just the right amount of appetizer food. The lamb was amazing as a main course as was the scallops and risotto. Service is terrific, the presentation is what you would expect. Thank you La Cote D'or for another great dining experience!
One of our favorite places! Waiter suggested a wine by the glass that I hadn't tried, and was kind enough to bring a taste first, which allowed me to try it, but then order something I liked better. Pea soup was wonderful - light and smooth with great taste. Scallops were delicious. Hubby liked his plentiful salad and the halibut dish. The raspberries caramel were just that -- warm raspberries, placed artistically stem-side down to fill the shallow dish, in warm caramel sauce (not creme caramel).
