We found the Restaurant Week menu was a great way to tour the kitchen‘s range. Ambiance during Covid includes the plastic barriers which are not proven to help contagion but do help cut down on noise from neighbors.

Service was clearly a bit under stress but they managed well for the evening. This is a small place, and the team managed to pull off thoughtful service.

We found the entrees were over salted, but the regular clientele appears to skew a tad older (think: tastebuds needing help). The stars here were the finish. You can’t really go wrong with the floating island or bread pudding, all other final courses looked very appealing.

While we’d try it again, keep your standards to a Bistrot/Bistro, and you’ll leave pleased and quite full (American sized portions were unexpected, and could easily be cut back to be more authentic). Not sure this is the spot for your next business dinner, wedding proposal or something more grandiose, but it turned out to be a very solid Bistrot de cuisine traditionnelle. This fits their location nicely.

Delicious starters, fried oysters and an endive-roquefort-walnut sala, and cassoulet. With an exquisite St. Estephe!

We went for Restaurant Week. Everything was delicious! My husband had the fried oysters, I had the pate for starters. Then my husband had the rack of lamb and I had the trout! We were both thrilled with our food, I especially loved the trout. We were so full afterwards that we asked for our desserts to go, and that was “No problem”.
Later that night our chocolate mousse and floating islands were a wonderful addition to our evening.

We had dinner here for the first time during DC Restaurant Week. The food was delicious. The cocktails were delightful. The service was outstanding.
Very cozy atmosphere that was not noisy.

Cocktails and entrees (steak frites and rainbow trout) were fantastic; bread pudding was slightly underwhelming.

Food is solid, although unexciting. Place has seen better days, but remains a comfortable and warm spot for a nice, easy dinner.

Interesting and fairly priced wine list.

Always adult, always perfect for a nice dinner where you can hear your companions. Excellent service and food. It's our go-to spot when we want a quiet, restorative meal. We prefer eating in the original part of the restaurant but the food and service are the same high quality wherever you're seated.

Wait staff was slow, food was below average for a restaurant that holds itself as high calibre. It was brunch but the restaurant should still attempt to deliver a quality experience.

Always reliable for a great meal and service, it's our go to place and we are so happy they have managed to survive these tough times. It's difficult for any restaurant on ambiance these days when tables have to be so sparse, but yes I miss the fabric tablecloths, candles, but get it. Highly recommend and of course will be back!

I’ve had better meals there on other occasions. But this time, the market priced Dover sole was mediocre at best.

Two of us had the pork shoulder which was just fabulous. You could cut it with a fork. Another guest had the Seafood crêpes in a champagne cream sauce. It was also spectacular. For dessert one had bread pudding (which she orders every time), chocolate mousse (which he orders every time), and the cream caramel. All were fabulous. The food is outstanding as well as the service. This is our third time eating here and will definitely be returning.

Food has changed over the past few years with the new ownership and there are some new and interesting dishes. Chicken croquettes for one. This is one of the better French restaurants in the area. We were there on a Friday night - it was packed and I think the waiters were a touch overwhelmed because the service was slow. We still highly recommend the restaurant and will probably just go on weeknights.

Went to La Cote D'Or for lunch with the goal of determining whether our group's Christmas luncheon could be held there. The food was delicious, although the service was not as good as usual. The waiter forgot to bring my friend's coffee, and there was a bit of a wait between the appetizer and main dish. However, the chef/owner was very accommodating regarding our request to hold our Christmas luncheon there, and we decided to reserve the back room for our luncheon.

What a lunch we had!! It had been a number of years since we had the opportunity to return to this wonderful restaurant!! My son and I were in the area and came by to see the development of the new ownership. It has kept the best of the old and added a number of really wonderful new ideas: both in the ambiance of the place and in the menu seem better. Great service, lovely wine, and what food offered!!

It was our first time here. Many recommendations on local sites and best restaurant lists. We love French, so why not. It was very good. Not on par the Bistro Le Hermitage, in any way, but an enjoyable dinner nonetheless. The three course $38 dinner is a steal. The French onion soup was great. The menu could be better, if substitutions were allowed. The menu is fish-heavy. We both liked our meals a lot. This place is a safe choice.
