La Cote D'Or
Went there for restaurant week. Loved that you could order off the menu and weren't limited to a few items. We had delicious food and great service. It was so nice to be in a restaurant where you didn't have to shout to be heard. A perfect Sunday dinner destination.
Very good choice if your'e looking for French cuisine, in American portion.
best french restaurant in the dmv
We walked in there was nobody to greet us. We waited for 10 minutes at least. While we were there another guest came out of the dining room and was very upset because the restaurant has taken his credit card 20 minutes before and he still Didn’t have it back
For me however, the worst moment was when I saw an employee coming out of the mens room as I was headed into it. After I washed my hands, I realized that there were no towels in the bathroom. So what did that guy just wipe his hands on, he even clean them?
Creme Brûlée was eggy. Might have been a restaurant week thing.
We like going to La Cote D'or, especially during restaurant week. $35 for onion soup, chicken cordon bleu and peach bread pudding. My husband had escargot, veal schnitzel and chocolate mousse. Great meal for $70. Of course, a couple drinks, a bottle of wine and cappuccino basically doubled that price. Service was attentive and informed without being intrusive. We sat in the back on the cozy back room with lots of windows, so we could watch the traffic passing. A little chilly on a cold night, but still pleasant. The restaurant offers a lot of choices for RW, something for everyone,if you like French food. Decent wine list too.
One of the most consistently delightful French restaurants in Northern Virginia.
I have been going there occasionally for close to 30 years but am not a regular. The food has declined over time. Last night when i asked for a different table away from the service station i was met by additude and a comment that he couldn't reseat everyone even though there were only 3 other tables taken. I was given a different table but when the place is empty why would you seat someone at the worst table in the place first? I understand it may get busy later but so what. The place is close which is why I have been going for the last few years but i dont see me going back.
I live in Falls Church and always wanted to go. I expected the menu to be more French (say, escargot and frogs) but didn't see that. Not a disappointment though, the food was quite good.
Food is not impressive. The desert was not good. I played safe and ordered a dark chocolate mousse cake. It was flat and I just tried and then gave up. My main course was a salmon dish, too too salty even they cooked a new one , still way too salty. I won’t go back to this restaurant again.
Charming cozy traditional French restaurant. Food was mixed - nice trout but leek soup bland & bread pudding soggy. Restaurant week was certainly good value.
We had a lovely brunch on Sunday. The food is much improved from our prior visit and I look forward to returning soon. The quiche Lorraine is delicious.
Did the restaurant just have the carpet cleaned??? I have been to La Cote d'Or many times over the last two decades, and the food is always consistently good and the service excellent. Saturday night, however, there was an overpowering odor -- my husband said it smelled like PineSol -- that was prevalent the entire time I was there. The food was just OK, but who would know? I could barely taste anything because of the overwhelming sickly sweet chemical odor. I should have left before I ordered. The smell was even on my clothes the next day. I probably won't go back.
Food is excellent. We try to get specials since it can be pricey.
Love the bouliabase! The service is always great -- even when busy. Very friendly and professional staff.
Excellent food and ambiance.
Typically I only come here when a friend of mine who loves French food wants to go out to eat. Don't get me wrong, the food has always been good, it's just that French cuisine is not one of my preferences. Took a friend from out of town here and we both had fantastic meals. I had the pork schnitzel (yes, the irony of ordering a German dish in a French restaurant was not lost on me nor on our waiter!) and my friend had the seafood crepes. Both were exquisite.
The dessert selection was top notch as well with my chocolate mousse mouth wateringly rich and his apple tart a tasty treat as well.
The only weak link was the French 75 cocktail I had. Bland and tasteless. bleck.
We always love La Cote D'Or. They make the best Dover Sole and all the other dishes are wonderful, too.
We were on the patio (closed in for winter), so it was nice and quiet, although it didn't seem to be too much louder in other rooms. Even though we were at the far end, the service was good, although a little slow - but we were in no hurry, and wanted to enjoy the evening. The food was wonderful, from the pate to the scallops. The wild boar veered onto the fruitier side, which was good but different than the more savory dishes we have had elsewhere. I wish the lighting had been a little lower, but on the bright side, we could certainly read the menu. All in all, a lovely way to spend Christmas Eve.
Excellent food with wonderful atmosphere. We really enjoyed our lunch there.
Good value and delicious sauce I’ve organic sustainabily raised food
Always a sure bet coming to Jacques’ place!
We wanted the sweetbreads and even though they were not on the lunch menu, the Chef fixed them up for us and they were so good!
Waitstaff is top notch!
Today I picked up my bûche de Noel and the place, rightly so, was packed! Good going Jacques!
Always wonderful food!
Great cozy place to meet friends. Two course lunch special great value.
Excellent experience. We are four friends who meet here for lunch once a month. We wouldn’t change a thing.
Our lunch was, in most respects, very good. Once again, the exception was the noise level. My wife and I had difficulty conversing throughout our meal. Other than this, we enjoyed our dining experience.
Christian is a superb waiter .. very attentive and efficient.
Great small local restaurant with outstanding food
Very nice. Very good onion soup, very good entrees. Family really enjoyed.
I love this place. Very good food, charming ambiance and very friendly staff. Recommend for special event as well as everyday dining with a spouse, colleague or friend. One of my favorites in Arlington!
This was my first visit and I was very pleasantly surprised. Loved the interior of the restaurant, the spotless tablecloths and the spacing of the tables. It was a little loud but not sure how to improve that issue. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. I checked my coat and the minute I stood up to leave, the waiter was by my side with my coat. I will definitely go back and I will tell my friends.
As usual, excellent food, service, and ambience! The Thanksgiving meal was a delight.
Was disappointed no vegetarian stuffing alternative dessert was good
Our waiter was very good
Food was excellent. Smaller tables were a little cramped for space with the dishes. Overall a great value. Will be back to try more options.
La Cote D'Or is reliably good - good food and good value. I have dined there periodically for years and always enjoy it. The number of entrees is limited and many are on the heavy side so if you are like me - avoiding red meat and heavier dishes - your selection is limited.
A winner on the local scene! Consistently good over the years.
Excellent and hard to find level
of service and sophistication at an affordable price.
