Great restaurant. Spectacular views. We are going again this week.
Parking is difficult. Menu is limited ion seafood and very over priced for what you get. The ceviche was very spicy but grilled octopus was good.
Great food and great views. Price is on the upper end, but overall excellent.
Made an early reservation for 5:15 to catch the beautiful sunset. We were seated at a very nice table with views of the ocean and beach. Our waitress was very friendly and made excellent suggestions regarding menu selection. Our appetizer plates were phenomenal as was the main entree. This restaurant always serves a wide assortment of fabulous small plate, and regular sized entrees and deserts. Highly recommended👍👍
We always like coming back to our favorite Peruvian restaurant in the Bay Area! The pisco sour was so good I ordered a second one. The heart anticucho was very tasty, the yuquita balls were great, the paella amazing, and the grilled octopus was smooth spicy, soft, perfect!
The food was not well executed; there was a lack good flavor and taste. The pork adobo was too salty & its salad was over dressed and salty. The paella was soupy and the lobster and rice were overcooked. The tuna tartare was too sweet as well. We were also disappointed because it was Valentine’s Day and the service seemed more interested in turning tables than providing good service. We actually sat with dessert without utensils, not to mention other service gaps. The lighting was also too bright and nothing special was done - no flowers on the table, etc. Finally, after a mediocre meal & service, a 20 percent gratuity was automatically added. I would never recommend this restaurant for a special occasion dinner.
Tips were included in check even we were only both of us. This is not acceptable
Sunset dinner for Valentine's day, amazing view, great food and service.
A hidden gem along Highway 1. Consistently good food with unbeatable ocean views and sunsets.
La Costanera is one of favorite Peruvian places to go! The service is always great. The ceviche is a must- Mixto is our “go-to.” Every dish is amazing and the views on a beautiful day are gorgeous.
Enjoyed the Peruvian food- had never had before. Beautiful view out the expansive windows, but at night all you see is the reflection of the inside. Would have been nice to have lights out to the ocean for better ambiance. Service was good, simple table settings and could get noisy if full.
Day before Valentines.
Nice sunset view and great tapas style starters.
Food was good, the place was packed so our server was pretty busy. There was a couple of parties going on so it was really loud but still love this place.
La Costanera servers amazingly tasty food in a very relaxed and romantic setting. The service is excellent and the ambiance combined with the fresh, high quality food is the reason why we come back over and over again.
The server was an absolute delight! She made a lot of great recommendations and was constantly checking in on us to make sure everything was good. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants a good environment and delicious food.
Our favorite restaurant on the coast, we've been here many times and it's wonderful. The pisco sours and ceviche are superb.
Our British visitors really enjoyed the food and the view. They had never been to a Peruvian restaurant before. We shared the ceviche trio of options - really fresh fish with good marinades. I enjoyed the paella, my husband enjoyed the Mac n'Cheese and our friends had swordfish. Desserts were good too - some Peruvian - followed by Peruvian coffee. Very pleasant, attentive waiter.
It's easy to walk on the beach or just sit outside by a fire pit with a drink too. I'm always surprised that this restaurant doesn't capitalize on its location and have continuous service from 11 am to 10 pm.
La Costanera is always a sure thing. We live in Montara so are happy to have this superb restaurant right in our town!
Good food, nice service, but it felt over priced for what it was (most likely because of the beautiful location ). Go before dark so you can get the most out of the view.
Celebrated graduation over sunset dinner. Always divine food and great excellent service from our favorite waiter. Still always way overpriced.
We went with 3 appetizers and an entree. The Anticuchos (beef hearts) were truly succulent...mmmm! The Tuna Tartare with Rocoto/Tamarinfo sauce with Yucca Chips were delish :)
Potato chip smothered Dungeness Crab was truly unique...mmmm mmmm good! Entree was seasonal Swordfish with mushrooms and mussels, clams and shrimp, accompanoed by coconut rice abd a side of fresh garlic smothered bread. The variety of sauces including aji amarillo and fresh pure rocoto, were authentic and pure pleasure!
We absolutely love La Costanera, and especially Ivonne and Maggie! Thank you for a wonderful evening!!
Exceptional food and service.
We love this restaurant! We had tapas and were stuffed. Our waiter Edgar was amazing. Had a great answer for every question and amazing recommendations! Only down side very loud upstairs but lots of fun
You can come here for the gorgeous views, but really, I want to come here for the great food. All six of us loved what we ordered, from the paella to the crab cakes to the fish of the day to the scallops. and oh, the mac and cheese! the sauces really make every dish. and the service is simply perfect. we will be back!
I made reservations 6 days ahead of time for a party of 7 and requested window table.
I then called 3 days before the reservation date and asked if they had my request for a window table.
I was told they see my request and will try to accommodate if there is an available table but can’t guarantee .
They open at 5
We arrived 4:30 to make sure we will be first in line to get a window table but when we walked in the hostess told us they don’t give window table for a party of six.
The table they gave us was the farthest from the window.
When I called I wish they would have told me that their policy is not to have a table for 7 by the window
On top of it it was so noisy that we could hardly hear each other.
The only good thing was that our server was pleasant lady and serviable
Instead of winter solstice go when days are longer to enjoy the ocean along with great food and cocktails.
Great food, beautiful place
Good appetizers and drinks, paella not so good. Ahi tuna pretty good and pork main dish was outstanding
We had an excellent dinner with an out of town friend of 45 years. Ceviches were the best. Ribs and shrimp were good. The Albarino and Tempranillo were very good. The waiter was highly professional, will ing to describe dishes and not intrusive.
Food was good. The service was rushed, they wanted us to get done quickly. Disappointing night
Very nice server and great food!
Normally satisfied with this restaurant. Last time out, the food was just OK.
Delicious flavor, the tapas and ceviche were better than the chefs other locations. Lamb was a tad bit overcooked and not as good as Piqueos but still a great venue and value
Really lovely dinner! Beautiful presentation! Generous portions for a tapas menu. The beef skewers were amazing. Loved all the pisco cocktails! View is hard to beat! One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time!
Absolutely amazing! Great service. Delicious food. We got engaged here a few years ago!
Amazing as always
Very cold. Meals when the restaurant is freezing are a waste of money. Won’t go back unless the restaurant is crowded
It was disappointing. Rude service when we got there and very average food.
