This charming and intimate restaurant serves a generous and creative fresh market cuisine, cheerfully prepared by chef-owners Marc De Canck and Olivier de Montigny. At La Chronique, the pleasures of the table are always front and centre. But in addition to the delights it serves up, the restaurant is also known for its extensive wine list, welcoming décor and impeccable service. Little wonder it's been considered "essential eating" in Montreal since 1995.

La Chronique Ratings and Reviews
The 7 course tasting menu was seriously good and had a nice balance of vegetables, seafood, meat/poultry and dessert. The standout course was a duck confit ravioli topped with foie gras, but every course was great. Courses change often, but based on my meal, I would guess that you can't go wrong. The chef has a great sense for how to combine ingredients and to artistically use complex sauces that bring the components together. Be prepared for a leisurely meal - European style. Highly recommended.
First let me say the food here is very good. The reason for my poor rating is because the service was lacking and the chef is not cordial. I left a note in my reservation mentioning that I will be flying in from California and wish to bring my own wine and pay corkage. I never got a response so i took a chance and brought my bottle. When I arrived I was told I cant bring my bottle. Okay...I understand. Policy is policy. This is just a case of poor communication. I asked for a wine list. After waiting 5 minutes the waitress produced a wine list and gave it to my 20 year old niece! Since I am the one that brought in a bottle...and I was the one that asked for a list, why was it given to her? I ended up buying a $220 bottle off their list. We sat at the table for nearly 30 minutes with no menu. We had water. That's it. We had to ask for a menu! One of my guests was Vegan so we had to ask for something special off the menu. I understand how this could present a challenge so I sent the chef a glass of HIS $220 wine offering a humble apology. The chef never came out to say thank you or acknowledge that he received my wine. It would have been the perfect opportunity to explain local wine laws to me or even discount my dessert. I felt the chef and management just didn't care.
High priced plates with quality ingredients but not overly flavorful. The somelier needs customer service training. A table was playing YouTube videos and singing, unacceptable in such a restaurant. When we made a comment, it was brushed off by the staff, again unacceptable. If they want to continue selling a $100 per head experience before alcohol, the service quality needs to increase, you're in Michelin star territory at that price.
Beautiful restaurant (with art by the owner), small, and manages to be both warm and stylish. Fabulous food -- among the best I've had. Amazing first courses -- veloute of peas with lobster, and a brilliant salad with courgette flowers filled with a creamy cheese along with delicious and unusual greens. Delicious Brouilly at a reasonable price; excellent duck and lamb for our mains. Overall, great!
Accueil excellent et professionnel; personnel charmant et compétent; décor épuré et, bien sûr, une expérience gastronomique digne de ce nom: mets délectables, présentés de façon soignée et recherchée, en portions bien équilibrées et accompagnés d'excellents vins.
