We did dinner at La Casita’s evening alter ego, La Tiki Paesa - and will definitely go back! Most people sauntering in from the book store and lining up came for coffee and excellent pastries. But most tables did also order from the limited menu. We ordered almost all items off the menu and shared, and every single bite was delicious and special. Asian spiced beef tartare, leompia, shrimp scotch “egg”, elote, karage chicken. And finished with yummy pastries. Excellent.

We tried the pancakes, eggs Benedict and breakfast plate. All were delicious. The pancakes were huge so sharing them could be a good idea. We were seated at a high table, which was a little challenging with a wiggly 5 yr old. It would’ve been helpful if I had known that was a potential configuration, but live and learn. All told, I’d go back.

OMG!! Straight UP 6 Stars epicurean delight!! When i heard La Casita Bakeshop had opened a Tiki Bar, I knew I had to go even though it is a haul from my house and oh was it worth it!! First, you should make a reservation on OpenTable. It is a small coffee shop venue in the Half Price Books so just coming without a reservation would not be advised unless you want to wait a long time or might not be able to be accommodated for a seating. We started with the Tiki Drinks of course. I love a sweet drink so i chose the Banana Alexandra. It is cacao rum and cream and banana. It also comes with a frozen chocolate covered banana. The Six Word Story was suggested as it is less sweet than the hurricane but the Hurricane is very popular. The Six Word was very citrus tasting but not super sweet but very tasty. Next we got the Lumpia. It was very crispy with a fantastic chili sauce. It was so good. Then we got the Bread and Butter because it is a bakery and need their bread. The Honey Butter was awesome and so was the bread. We went with the whole Branzino fish tacos and house made corn tortillas. What a visual treat. You have never seen such a presentation. The tacos were amazing. The crispy fish and sauce and cabbage was amazing. For dessert, we went OFF menu and got the Pistachio Tres Leche Cake with pistachio cream and strawberries. It was so amazing!! Always go off menu is my advice. We then selected some pastries to go and you MUST try the Vietnamese Coffee Brownie!! It didn't last long when i got home. You MUST come eat here it is amazing!

While La Casita cannot control outside noise, Half Price Books seems to be doing some construction and there was some hammering going one. Other than that, the food was good and good service. Server didn't let me know that there was going to be an extra charge for the oat milk; would have not ordered coffee with oat milk if I'd known of the charge. I do not need oat milk for health reasons. Host was very kind and helpful.

Most of the food that I have tasted is delicious! Took a friend there and it was her first time. She enjoyed everything, the food also. We shared a Berry Cobbler Muffin, and it lacked a little flavor. We both commented that a little more berry flavor would have made it delicious. Our server was wonderful and very helpful. We will go back!
