La Cascada Table and Bar - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
My sister and I had reservations for dinner. We were seated promptly and were given a table of our choice. We chose wine and ordered an appetizer. (calamari) We did not order our entrees at that time. Our wine arrived promptly. Unfortunately, we had to ask several times about the calamari. We waited to order our meal as we wanted to enjoy the appetizer without being rushed on our meal. We were assured that the calamari would be out momentarily at which point we ordered the prime rib special. Our server was very nice but didn't seem to have a clear idea what was included with the prime rib or the size of the serving. She also informed us that we could place half orders. We requested to know the size at which point she went to check and then let us know that she had been mistaken, that it was the ribs that came in half orders. We STILL had not received our appetizer but she said that she thought it was being plated and so we went ahead and placed our order. We watched 3-4 tables, seated after us, that received their food before our calamari appeared.
Finally, ta da, the calamari arrived. It was very good and we enjoyed it, however, before we finished it, our prime rib meals arrived. Just what we wanted to avoid. Not sure if it was a problem in the kitchen or in the placing of the order.
We enjoyed the live music and the setting. We would definitely come back.
Ordered the swordfish with the pineappls salsa, cooked perfectly and the sauce was very tasty. Husband ordered the lamb, it was cooked well and tasted great. The mashed potatoes were light and very buttery and creamy. Wished the bread was warm, but their black pepper compound butter tastes good. Overall good food that is priced reasonably.
There was a mix up with our reservation but the manager sorted it out and had us seated right away. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and they were delicious. I also ordered the N.Y. strip steak, it was cooked and seasoned well. My husband ordered the boneless ribeye and it was fantastic. The cheddar grits tasted great too.
We ordered the peach cobbler for dessert. It was more of a peach crisp, no cobbler pie dough, but an oatmeal topping. The topping was very bland and we did not enjoy it. Our server saw that we did not like it and offered us another dessert. We had the brownie a la mode and it was terrific.
Very disappointed in the food and atmosphere. They rave online about the upgrade to the dining room but we didn't see it unless it was pretty bad before the upgrade. We got the turf and surf buffet. It was served outdoors which is fine but the food was sitting out there uncovered. It was all cold. All the steak that was ready was rare and the chicken was very dry. We complained to our waitress who said she'd have someone look into it but nothing changed. We originally planned to eat breakfast there as well but no chance after our dinner experience. We've already told several people about our experience and we won't be returning.
While the staff had noted our request for a nice outdoor table due to our 24th wedding anniversary, having had our reception at Tapatio, and they did say happy anniversary, I was disappointed that no one acknowledged the occasion with a complimentary dessert or some sort of small treat. Also while the waitress was nice, she was extremely slow to check on our table and we went a very long time between drink refills, check-in's and bringing our check after completing our dinner. She did not even offer dessert or a dessert menu. Service did not match the quality of the location. Also the prices were too high for what you got, but we expected that being at a resort.
Great view of beautiful golf course landscape. Great personal service. Great food. Ate here during Restaurant Week. Beautiful drive here and would recommend driving through the hill country and avoiding i10. Sure to please and even see a few deer and other wildlife.
Dinner - Dining room was noisy due to a wedding reception in the room next door, and the music on the patio. Clashing styles... with not enough separation.
Apps and entre Ribs were very good, however, the ribeye was off. Was shaped and it ate more like a NY strip. In fact, I should have asked, but don't know if a strip is even on the menu. Anyway, the steak was dense and dry.
Girls Spa Weekend! Loved the Resort-was beautiful and we felt safe there, never worrying about our property or anything! The Spa was awesome! We were there almost all day and our package included lunch! Lunch was above and beyond any lunch we've ever had at any Spa! Was amazing! The staff were all great as well! We will return!
My wife and I celebrated our 30yr anniversary, Live in San Antonio, did not want to go far. This was a great choice. Close to home. Ranch feel. Plenty to do , and lots of room for relaxation. Also a full 18 hole round of Golf which was superb . This is a great getaway close by and reasonably priced. We are looking forward to many more visits. For just because weekends.
We had a fantastic time. Had the best steak I've ever had. My only complaint about the restaurant was the service was slow especially for drinks. But the staff and waiters were super nice. We will be back for sure. I want to bring my teenage boys for a round of golf and an awesome steak!
Been many times, taken many family and friends, feed back from them is they love it. We've always had a pleasurable experience and can not wait to return, when wanting to show off what Boerne has to offer to friends and family this is one of our go to spots.
We stayed at Tapatio Springs , so a spot just around the corner sounded enticing. The service was stellar ! Abigail was our waitress and she couldn't have been more accommodating. The food was either over cooked or undercooked and just wasn't great. We had some freezer fried green tomatoes , Dry chicken breast , burnt Brussels sprouts, raw squash and a tiny chicken fried steak. The bar and dining area are all open with no sound barrier , and someone in the bar was having a very good time with a lot of shouting ( and the echo amplified the shouting).I was able to get past it all because the drinks were FANTASTIC!! I had the Lonestar Slip and was blown away , and because it's a resort I even got one to take the room. Overall, had it not been close to our room and had a phenomenal view , I would have pitched a fit over the $75 bill. We won't be eating dinner here again , but I'd happily pay the bar a visit.
The staff was a little slow in noticing we had been seated, but the manager and the waitress made up for all of it by giving excellent service and a couple of glasses of complimentary wine. Making the special effort to give good customer service, especially after having a snag, always rates high in my book. You don't have to do a huge effort, but giving a damn is important. I was very impressed with the manager's and staff's care given to rectify the matter and make the dining experience extremely enjoyable.
We were under the impression reading Amy s email that the steak was $32 but turned out to be $64 ????? And the appetizer scallop dish for two....( two tiny scallops and another tiny foie gras for $16 ) we had to order two.
Also a lot of the special dinner offers ( the wednesdays member dinners ) are made with cheap ingredients and taste like fast food.
Sorry I m not trying to be negative but just sharing our opinions ( Neighboors and residents )
Early Valentine's Day dinner (on 2-13-17) with husband and daughter. Reservations were at 7:15. We had a lovely evening, fabulous food, delicious cocktails, and amazing service with Juanita. She was attentive but not intrusive, and she anticipated our needs very well.
We'll go back in the spring/summer so we can catch the view when the sun is still out, but the ambiance was just a pretty in the dark. We were very pleased with the entire experience.
I knew the dining experience would be good when the mixed-greens salad proved to be memorable all by itself: just the right amount of blue-cheese crumbles, walnut pieces, cherry tomato, lettuces, cucumber, and a vinaigrette that was sweet without being cloying. When the kitchen puts that much effort into the house salad, you know everything else will be good as well. I had the hanger steak (medium), which was as tender as could be--not the shoe leather toughness that particular cut can suffer from. My guests had various fish dishes that were finished to perfection. The cheese grits were marvelous: delicate flavor, lovely texture. Not the starchy, mushy mess one finds at many restaurants. Desserts will not disappoint. Get the cobbler, regardless of the fruit available at the time of your visit.
