La Carnita - Leslieville
Our Queen St. east location is based in the tightly knit communities of Riverside and Leslieville amongst a mix of young professionals and families. Through this location, we’ve been able to connect with East end breweries and small business for many fun collaborations. This location includes a seasonal Sweet Jesus booth created just for the foot traffic of the lively eastside community.
Great food. Ridiculously overpriced. Remember-we are taking tacos here, folks. Hardly requiring the skill set of a Beef Wellington. The sticker price on what is essentially low rent food shouldn’t involve shock.
Good overall but felt rushed from the server from the very beginning. The guacamole was not mashed up. There was half an avocado in the dip that was still in one piece. Had the cod and chicken thigh tacos and both were very spicy.
Very loud place and dimly lit which was the only negatives really. Good over all was great. The cod taco not so much though. However the mushroom taco was phenomenal. Churros were great, however a chocolate sauce would have been nice.
Awesome tacos at a reasonable price. Left super full and had dinner for two under $75. Great service and great pace.
The whole evening was great. Amazing food, delicious cocktails (Who Shot Ya is delicious) and great service. Love this location, by far best of the Toronto locations.
No complaints except we weren’t told in advance we were on a time constraint and were rushed along at the very end by two different servers as they had another reservation for our table apparently.
La Carnita was fun. Good atmosphere, nice staff. Food was good too. Great place to have a bite and meet with friends.
This restaurant is really good. It’s based on East LA Mexican food. I’ve read some reviews where people were upset about the music (rap) saying it didn’t fit with the food, but it does. That being said, the fried chicken tacos are so good i can’t stop thinking about them and now i don’t know why ALL chicken tacos are not fried because they should be!
Service was great. Our server was very helpful and knew the menu well. We were bummed that they ran out of churros. It was only 9pm :( so, we didn’t have a happy-ending to our otherwise yummy meal.
Yummy...again...but still tooooo loud, even though it was a weekday this time, not a weekend when we first went and found it waaaay tooooo loud as well.
Food was not as good as the other locations. Guac didn’t taste very fresh and tacos all tasted the same. But the service was great.

Great evening. Portions were very large and enjoyable. Hostess was very lovely and friendly.
Serving cold tortillas on tacos is not the way forward. Although the food was tasty, it was cold and it took away from the experience. Also, having the appetizer served after the mains kinda put a dent on the meal.
Ambiance was great. Loved the music, atmosphere and service.
I was not thrilled with the food and am disappointed because I really wanted to love this place! I’ve had amazing tacos elsewhere in Toronto.
We LOVED the food but the noise level was terrible. We found out that the 'ambiance' was supposed to be like that on weekend nights but weekdays are much quieter. It was just soooo loud we couldn't hear each other talk and it was just plain annoying.
But our server was fantastic, the food was amazing and we will definitely be back....on a week night!
We went for my brothers birthday and were not disappointed. The food was really good and the drinks were amazing. The service was fast and very friendly. It’s a little pricey but overall it was worth it. We had a great time!
Thanks for making the night special for my wife and I.
The tables with the benches are uncomfortable and very cramped which takes away from the overall. There is no where to hang your coat so dress lightly. Not sure how people wearing heavy boots and coats in the winter will squeeze in.
Service was slow to greet us but then got better.
Pretty underwhelmed by the food. My daughter is a vegetarian and the options weren't great. Trio of dips was good but I felt like they didn't need to spice the chips as much as they did. Husband had tacos. We both had salads. Mango salad used unripe mangos. Not what the We Are expecting. Churros were over cooked.
On the night of our visit, the restaurant had a very unpleasant sense to say the least. We had to rush through our meal just to get out because the smell was overwhelming.
We couldn’t enjoy our meal and were disappointed.
Everything was awesome! 😄
So delicious and service was excellent.
The guac was very bland and too cold. My juice was filled with ice and when I asked for the ice to be taken out I received a half a glass of juice. The tacos were decent but overall the meal was disappointing.
Loved everything about it. The service is impeccable and the food it top notch. The wings are amazing, my fave tacos are the fish and beef and the churros are a must have ! It’s really loud in there so if you are looking for a quiet night out, not the place. But want good food, service and ambience? Don’t miss it!
Loved that they played biggie all night the food and margaritas were delicious!
Food was great, service was great, ambiance was great
Good location. Decent food and pricing. Quiet during the day.
No problems with the staff or the food but the music playing was awful and offensive. This is a Mexican restaurant not a hip-hop nightclub. So glad our daughter wasn't with us. We had an appetizer and a drink and hoped the music would change. It did not so we skipped dinner.
Amazing tacos one of the best I ever had, if you are in the Toronto area you need to stop by La Carnita. The tacos, drinks and especially the corn is so great.
The Mexican street corn is the best corn i have ever had!! The chorizo quesadillas were amazing, as well as our service.
Food tasted good. Just quite pricy for the portion size. This is Mexican food folks. After eating here... which felt like a really pricy appetizer. We went for more food elsewhere. Not returning. Service was good.
Music is always quite loud, sometimes hard to hear your guest.
Great place good food but super pricey, its Mexican food, not gourmet
Came here cause i was craving tacos and wanted to go to a bar. This is basically the best of both worlds. Little loud for intimate conversation/holding a conversation. And kind of close quarters if you dont want people to hear what youre talking about. Gave the service 3 stars cause our server seemed a little uninterested. but he warmed up to us eventually. Food was great. recommend the corn. Also the califlower taco was my favorite. The mushroom tapa or whatever its called sucked. Hated it but ended up eating the shell with the cheese sauce which was pretty good. Would come here again to try other stuff. Fun for a date especially if you dont like talking much. Hurt the next day though. My boyfriend also enjoyed. Very cosy but also live at the same time. idk what else to say. thanks guys. would deffs recommwnd to a friend.
I thought the Food was amazing! Love the flavours.
Loved every minute of being there, first date I won’t forget.
The only negative was that the air conditioner was broken, so it was hot in the restaurant. Other than that, great food and great service.
Cool place. Good tacos.
