The service, food, and atmosphere are always excellent. This time around we had fried oysters, duck, and gnocchi with mushrooms. Very fortunate to have this gem in the neighborhood.
This BYOB has interesting, delicious food and is good for folks who need gluten free options. The short ribs with root vegetable puree, fish special, and desserts, including flourless chocolate cake, were outstanding. I suggest making an early reservation for ease of parking and bringing your best wine to pair with what should be an excellent meal.
Impressed not only with standard menu but also specials. Everything is specially prepared and presented.
First time back since the COVID pandemic, and it was as outstanding as I remembered. Such an interesting, wonderful menu and very friendly staff.
Great little spot for brunch. The coffee is amazing, as well as their food. The menu is small, but everything is well done. Their bacon sometimes is a bit overcooked, but not terrible. I highly recommend this cute little spot!
We went there and it was closed!
Terrible. Would not recommend
Fabulous meal! Staff was kind, helpful and attentive
Surprisingly outstanding! Food was great as was service and live music as we enjoyed dinner outside. Mushroom soup was smooth and tasty, salad crisp and unique, and our entrees perfectly prepared. We didn’t expect to order a dessert but yielded to the panna cotta which completed a wonderful dinner out. Thank you La Cannelle.
Wanted to love this place - it's a tiny spot and we booked a very early breakfast for Mother's Day. When we arrived, there were several tables open (we were early even for our early reservation), and we were sat by the window.
After our waters were brought over and our menus distributed, we were told (not asked) to move to a table in the back by the kitchen. They said that they had a party of 8 coming in, needing our table. This would've been fine, but we watched them break up two tables in the back, built for a party of 8, to set up our 4-top.
A group of 8 walked in, people well into their 80s - I thought okay, I understand. Then THE SAME THING happened. They were sat by the window, waters distributed, when they TOO WERE UPROOTED to the middle of this very tiny restaurant. They looked equally confused and had a challenge getting into their seats in the tight space. For the entire breakfast, waitstaff bumped their chairs getting around them.
I said to the owner that I've never had this situation happen, much less twice. And, I've worked in many a restaurant, large and small. I cannot imagine this ever being okay, especially twice.
It was our first experience at Cannelle, and it will be our last. Seriously, save yourself the trouble, unless you order takeout.
Food and service were excellent! New local go to spot for me.
Innovative specials like the homemade tagliatelle with goat was delicious. And I was headed there mainly for the duck breast from the main menu. Accompanied by many healthy starter & salad choices makes this little know place very attractive.
Being a BYO & making reservations easily though Open Table certainly help.
Outstanding service by Susan and the owner, Lubna.
Food so impressive. So happy they're still there! No efforts at upsell, but good server recommendations. Esp good value at brunch/lunch
We tried a number of (5) appetizers and small plates. Each was creative and delicious. My favorite was the gnocchi that sat on a tasty onion sauce. The charred kale salad was delicious. Great sized portions for sharing. We did not order an entree. We were full when we left and did not have room for dessert.
We will be back.
One of the best hidden gems of the area, creative menu choices expertly prepared. A must try!
I would never have stopped there because of the location in a tiny row of shops. However a friend said it was wonderful and it really was!! The food was just delicious and the three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was outstanding. It was quiet with nice music. We could talk at a normal level. I had the crab egg rolls and the cheese appetizer. One friend had steak and another had onion gnocchi. Everything is as outstanding. They even have creme brûlée for dessert.
Limited, but exceptional menu. The food is absolutely fabulous and delicious. The staff and service are wonderful. Great little spot!
Precious little gem in Wallingford with superb food.
Food was delicious and the wait staff excellent. Excellent choices on menu.
Excellent food and service as always...this place never disappoints
Exquisite Dining with a Euro-Moroccan cuisine from two ladies who know how to make a great meal plus! Always a terrific meal, and fresh ingredients along with fabulous tasting food from other parts of the world. A Hidden Gem in Wallingford!
Dinner was as expected and is always a pleasure there. Service is admirable and dishes are full of flavor.
This little place is a great find, a hidden gem. From the appearance outside you wouldn’t expect such quality, and the picture on Open Table of a dessert is also misleading- I first thought it must be a bakery. The menu is not huge but very good. The service was delightful and friendly, and I gave 4 rather than 5 on that only because the food was a little slow in the preparation. I’ll definitely plan to be back.
Excellent preparations and ingredients cooked with care. Tasty mushroom soup and squid salad. Lamb kafta kabob and shrimp orzo were perfect. French, Mediterranean and Middle East seasoning influences are a great change of pace.
Excellent brunch. Highly recommended. Seems nondescript, but food is great
This is a BYOB with French cuisine and gluten free options. Private parking is in the rear. This is a great place for a date or a group of adults!
Excellent everytime. Delicious and Covid comfortable.
Our dinner was extraordinary; 1st time dining out in a year; food was so flavorful & well prepared, service so attentive, & fabulous atmosphere. Highly recommended.
We are so lucky to have this restaurant in our neighborhood! Every time we eat there it is amazing! We tried the Sesame Tuna steak special which was very good! Surprised of how big of a portion!
I am never disappointed with this restaurant - the food is delicious and very fairly priced - the atmosphere is cozy - they are handling the COVD restrictions very well - can say enough good things about this place!
Fantastic food! Have been back so many times. Brunch is also fantastic!
We had a charming experience at the restaurant. We both enjoyed our entrées and our special dessert. We certainly look forward to returning and will tell our friends about our good experience. This restaurant is a good secret.
Cheese plate special was outstanding. Both entrees were great. Salmon was perfect and the Shrimp Orzo fantastic. Just a bit of a bite to it. The Creme Brûlée was more than enough to share and delicious. We were the first customers after the shutdown and they were more than prepared.
Great service and food. The salmon was delicious.
We've been wanting to try La Cannelle for quite awhile, and it exceeded all of our expectations. The menu has a lot of variety (as does the kid's menu), and the food is delicious - with a lot of rich flavors. We will definitely be returning in the future.
They have figured out a way to turn the parking lot along the side of the building into three individual outdoor dining pods. For those of us who will not dine inside again until 2022, a wonderful option when the temperature goes down and the nights get longer. Didn’t have to use the heater it was such a beautiful evening. Great way to enjoy the creative dishes and special presentation.
Absolutely delicious food! Love this place! Definitely recommend it!
We sat outside, which was well blocked off into little "booths", which was nice. Roomy area. The service was pleasant, but seemed to take a longer time than usual. The food was excellent, as always, but with eggs they only gave 1/2 piece of toast and the home fried potatoes were scant, to put it mildly. The eggs en cocotte was delicious, but it would have been nice to have more toast to dip into it. I'll be back, for sure, though. Next time I'll ask for more.
