Nestled amongst riverside treetops on Southgate’s mid level, La Camera boasts two balconies with stunning views over The Yarra River and iconic Flinders Street Station. The interior is adorned with vintage black-and-white photographs depicting the history of the family that has owned and operated the restaurant since it opened in 2000. La Camera Southgate offers an array of authentic Italian dishes including unique Roman-style pizzas, authentic Pappardelle Ox Cheek from Trastevere-Rome and by far the most delectable Tiramisu in town. The emphasis is on quality ingredients, and fresh seasonal produce.

Very friendly and helpful. Also understanding when our friends plane was an hour late and consequently us ordering dinner was late. Overall great and I would go again.

The parmagana was a big serve but sadly was dry. The chips were nice. The carbonara was tasteless. PThe service was slow and the young girl was definitely new to the job. It was quite cool inside and it was very cold outside. Really wanted somewhere cosy. Definitely did not meet the 4.5 stars in the reviews.

I recently booked a table at La Camera for a pre-show dinner before the Gala. I was really looking forward to the ballet and catching up with my best friend, who I hadn’t seen in ages, so I made sure to mention that it was a special occasion and requested a table by the window to make the dinner more enjoyable. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I was seated right in the middle of the corridor, where the staff frequently walked by and held their conversations. Our table was also facing the open door to the outside. At one stage, I had to ask the waitress if we could move to a different table, and while the staff did close the door and others had to push it open each time they served the outside tables, the in-and-out cold breeze and interruptions were still quite distracting. This all made our catch-up less enjoyable than I had hoped. That said, the food was very delicious, and the service was decent, and good value, especially with the Entertainment book discount, that La Camera has been supporting for years!
